With the floorless train or the stadium seating (as on Diamondback) I think that the heartline is fairly close to the same distance form the track. The only difference that may need to be overcome is the width of the chassis. I am not sure if it is the same on a stand up as it is on a floorless or four across. Even if it is not, I would assume special trains could be made.
Cool, so Bizarro floorless coaster for SFGAm in 2011. :)
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
I remember the discussion very well, as I was the one excitedly wishing that it could happen to Mantis. My desires to see this happen were crushed somewhere in the thread when someone who seemed to know what they were talking about "won" the argument that there was absolutely no way that it could be done.
I secretly felt that they were wrong though, because I though about the heartline being about the same place on both kinds of trains. lol

Jeff...
I remember the discussion as well. Just can't remeber when/where it was. It was decided that it could not be done. Found it...

I think there was a discussion on pointbuzz as well. Right here....

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Say it's possible for Chang to undergo this conversion, and it's current trains would find themselves on Iron Wolf's course. Would this make a difference (on Iron Wolf)? It seems like the first 3 B&M standup designs are simply far more compact/feature more immediate transitions than later efforts. These three are also probably the least liked in general. I love the intensity of an Iron Wolf and have no problems with it, but the prevailing opinion is that it hurts.
Is it the layout and speed the course is taken at, or is it just the first gen trains?

Wow. Reading old threads is fun. Where did half of those screen names go to?
That dexter guy on page 5 was a real jerk. ;)

There you go Gator.Give Chang to SFGAdv and give SFGAm Scream from SFMM since it never generates a line there anyway.
No!! Scream is one of my favorite rides. I don't care if it never has a line. I love it and it is always nice to know one of my favorite rides never has a line. Whenever I am on that side of the park I know I have a 99% guaranteed walk on to an awesome ride.
My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

Given the last few horrible rides I have gotten on Mantis, and hearing complaints from many of the riders afterward, the thought of a train switch just doesn't sound that bad to me.
I know it will not happen, it's not cost effective, it doesn't matter to the public, the park would rather put money into other rides, but I would welcome it.
Same with Chang, but not with Riddler, it just seemed better with it's pacing.
I had to go ahead and quote myself from my post in that older thread, because I still feel the same way.
If SFGrAm is in fact getting this ride, and a floorless conversion CAN be done, I say go for it. Chang already has the blocking for 3 trains, and in a park like GrAm, it would surely need them. And then they can put the old Chang trains on Iron Wolf.
If this could ever happen, now's the time to do it. I don't ever see it happening to Mantis, though, for the reasons stated above.
Didn't Iron Wolf get new trains once? Or am I imagining things?
All I know is that I rode it once, and once was more than enough. I remember thinking, "Why are they taking out the Whizzer when they have this piece of junk sitting here?". Then the very next morning they announced that Whizzer was staying and Shock Wave was going away.

I think the restraint system (OTSR's and possibly the bicycle seats) were modified.
The trains themselves look to be the same.

Well, I can understand you enjoying that luxury of no lines and a good ride, but on a business standpoint, I don't see this coaster lasting much longer at SFMM. Not worth the maintenance upkeep, staffing, etc, for it.
It would benefit another SF park.

Iron wolf is a brutal ride.
I could care less if that ride went bye bye.

^^ I know. I meant that as somewhat of a "tongue in cheek" comment. Although Scream really is one of my favorite coasters. I think Scream suffers from being in an area in which the only nearby ride, Colossus, is not one of the better rides in the park and is not popular anymore. Both of them are walk ons almost every time I go there, but I would miss Scream very much if they remove it.

Well, that and Scream! was, IMO, a completely pointless addition.
I've ridden it, and I absolutely love the ride, but that was an awful lot of money spent for a ride that really wasn't necessary. I doubt that the 5 riders per train would miss it at SFMM. ;)
13 Boomerang, 9 SLC, and 8 B-TR clones
Scream was purchased by Six Flags corp for another park (IIRC it was SFNE) but when the intended park couldn't get approval from the city planning board the ride ended up at SFMM.
^^ That 5 rider comment is not that far off. Even it was a "pointless addition" from the parks perspective and was intended for another park, I still don't understand why park visitors don't like it. I cannot understand why is was a walk on during a summer vacation day like this when the park was absolutely packed. Check out the wait times on the other coasters.

Moosh, are you being serious this time about Scream's original destination being SFNE? I've never heard anything about that at all however i'm not the least bit surprised with how the city and zoning is.
And if they were looking for a park to add it too, why not the park that could break Cedar Point's record for number of coasters? I think it's a waste that such a good ride is relegated to a remote part of the park, in a parking lot, where no one will ride it. That ride could be a star attraction at many other Six Flags parks, even SF Great America.
Certain victory.

Not sure about that at all. The ride was absolutely intended for another park. Years ago I was told what park it was but of course I can't remember it now. Sucks getting old, lol.
