2006 PKD.. Italian Job Stunt Track.

The Italian Job coaster is a good little coaster with alot of theme. You know if Paramount can keep the theme up over the years this could be a good ride. The Italian Job coaster at Kings Island is starting to look bad with the speakers in the cars no longer working and all the effects on the coaster don't work also. *** Edited 8/14/2005 12:37:21 AM UTC by Vortex***
Actually, Rebel Yell has been surprisingly good this year, if you don't ride in the back of the front-forward train. The backwards facing train was really good also, again riding in the front (back?) of the train.

Actually, SFA has two non-cloned coasters if we are going to get our history right. Just remember, SFA built Roar first, so the SFMW version would be the clone and also has the Millennium Flyer trains as opposed to the PTC's that SFA has. I don't think there are many people who are griping that there's an almost exact copy (I hear the ending is not the same), several timezones away anyway. It seems like a ridiculous thing to complain about.

Maybe the effects aren't all working on the PKI version of the Italian Job, but, Volcano the Blast Coaster still puts out flames on a regular basis all these years later, so there's hope.

^^I don't know why that surprises you when a lot of the effects for TR:TR do not work anymore either.

As for PKD's IJ:ST, I think it will fit in pretty well with the other park's coasters. I mean what's one more launched coaster? Afterall they already have THREE! I question the area that they are putting it in though. What does IJ:ST have to do with the Congo? But then again, FoF is there and it probably has just as much to do with the congo as it does with Coney Island at PKI. I wish Paramount Parks would decide if they want to be the "poor man's Universal Studios" and if they do then go with that and theme everything in the park accordingly. The 1/2 @$$ theming that they are currently doing as well as placement of rides into noncorresponding theme zones is annoying.

^Well the problem is they're all tapped out as far as available land is concerned in the grove area of the park so that's why they're putting it where the older part of waterworks once was.
I still don't understand why people in that area would choose PGA over SFMW unless it's just a tradition with families to go to Great America. SFMW seems to have the better coasters plus the wildlife. PGA has a small waterpark and a decent kiddie collection. Locals?

And if Paramount is doing a "half-assed" job on theming, maybe they're still overdoing it for parks that get 1/7 to less than 1/2 of the attendance as the Disney and Universal parks. "Poor man's Universal", eh? Point out the waterpark (included in admission), dozen coasters, good number of flats, huge kiddie area, etc. at Universal. I can't find them and the comparison. Paramount Park's are trying to be a little bit of everything and it's hard to argue that they're not being very successful at it compared to other seasonal parks (Cedar Fair, Six Flags). They have the best variety in the business IMO.

huh? We're talking about Kings Dominon and your talking about Paramount's Great America and Marine World.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Maybe we should be talking about capitalizing the beginning of sentences and spelling the topic at hand correctly instead.

Thats ok, PKI is getting PKD's flyers :)
Thats not much to talk about lol lol. I rode the flyers at PKD and they were meehh compared to the new flyers that was handed ever so graciously to carowinds! I hope the people at PKD enjoy IJ:ST! Its nice to be the launched capital of the world...

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

+Danny,

Thanks for editing your post and explaining yourself. Really, that's all you had to do.

Noted subdiscussion about PGA/SFMW and that spurred my question. I'm OT all the time. =p

Except that they are not clones. Yes, they have very similar layouts but SFMW got the more intense, less family-friendly version. Think of it as a second generation, not a clone.

Did you ever think I might have been rushed and didn't have a chance to read what I was typing. Your expecting something that is virtually impossible to give and that's perfection. Your telling me I'm acting like a moderator, yet, your the one pointing out my grammatical errors. All I did was ask a question. Take your pet peeves out on someone else not me.

Yeah but Scott, nowadays Tomb Raider is a weak franchise as well (at least among gamers..). And just beacuse a sequel is being made doesnt mean anyone really wants to see it e.g. Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Revenge of the Nerds III, Iron Eagle 2 & 3, blah blah blah.... :)

No, Moosh, I would never talk to you like that. To much respect for you. I'm talking to Danny. *** Edited 8/17/2005 8:31:23 PM UTC by coasterguts***

Something about pet peeves was here.

Yep and I'm going to keep doing the your/your're thing. You know why? Because I know it bothers you.

If your really want to help, a better way to do it is via private message instead of pointing out other people's mistakes in a public forum.

FWIW, grammar is not a strong subject of mine and I appreciate your help.

That's fine and it's even if we both got a little moddy. Sorry there, cg. =p

What I meant by "poor man's Universal" was how they (Paramount Parks) are on a movement to make their parks in "ride the movies" much like what Universal has done since day one. IMHO their (Paramount) way of carrying out such plans is not to the level of Universal and that's what I have a problem with. They could have stuck with what they had been doing successfully for years, but now (as you mentioned) they think they need to dabble in several different ventures. While (like you mentioned) it creates a (your words) "best variety in the business" there is very little rhyme or reason, let alone segue between lands and/or ideas. I'm just saying that if you want to "ride the movies" go all out with the themeing and don't "half ass" (again your words) and the park(s) will be SO MUCH BETTER. All or none!
