So, it looks like there're spikes in case rates all over the country. And if you've been following this thread for 20+ pages, the stock market also pooped itself in response.

I used to get my haircut at that Great Clips 20 years ago when we lived in Springfield. Wife’s office was a few doors down.

The Fed Chairman also had some less than optimistic words to say about the “recovery” late Thursday.

Isn't Great Clips the place that tries to cut men's hair without using clippers? My barber says he makes good money fixing their handiwork, and he works cheap!

(Unfortunately for me, at the moment he doesn't work at all, as he's had some unexpected health issues, but he expects to be back soon)

I have only been to 2 or 3 Great Clips and each used clippers. Been going to one now for about 15 years. Never had to go to a barber to have them fix mistakes. But my hair is simple. And as I have always said, it will grow back. And if it doesn't, I won't come back.

I waited longer than anyone in my family/friend cohort to get a haircut. About 4 months total. Took less than 10 minutes at Great Clips. One other person was there getting a hair cut. A week ago so I have another week to clear incubation period. Knock on wood.

I think only barbers can use a straight edge razor.

They always asked me what I wanted which was clippers on the sides and scissors on top. Fortunately my wife invested in a set of clippers and scissors 5 years ago and we have saved a ton with me and two kids. I do not cut her hair however. :)

I have not paid for a haircut in almost 20 years. I just put the clippers I bought on 2 and do everything that way. Then again, my hair resists pretty much any kind of styling because of the weird configuration of the multiple cowlicks.

That might be the first time in history someone has put that combination of words together in a sentence.

Same, but probably closer to 25. Clippers, multiple guards (gotta get that fade), 3-way mirror. Occasional scissors.

Interesting idea about modeling: If you have a lot of assumptions, model based on the whole range of assumptions. The results are that at most combinations of effectiveness and community spread, masks do have a positive mitigation impact.

We are starting to see how ignoring the reality is affecting some states with community spread occurring in "but mah freedom" states. The University of Washington's models — which takes social distancing and masks into account — are predicting another 60k deaths by October. There's talk of a second wave but the first hasn't stopped breaking and if people aren't going to follow the CDC guidelines there's little hope in curbing it.

It's a pretty low-cost way to mitigate the problem with significant, if not perfect, impact.

Yeah, it's going to depend on how seriously people take the mitigation effort, which right now seems inconsistent at best.

It's crazy to me that if everyone wore masks for a while, used a little more Purell than usual, and stayed home when feeling sick we could literally solve this while still being almost fully open. And yet people won't do that because they claim it's their constitutional right to not give a damn.
