I don't think the fundraising goals are that insurmountable. I'm doing the Relay for Life thing tomorrow, and I raised 250 bucks without trying that hard.

Well, looks like I'm set. I'm registered, have already exceeded what I hoped for in donations, and I'm just waiting for Dorney to post their specs. Seven of the parks have, but not Dorney,KD, Great America, and ValleyFair.

I am definitely going to do this, I'm just waiting for my mom to decide if she's going to, as that could change which park I (we) register for. Personally I would lean towards KI, but she doesn't want to do Racer for that long.

On the fundraising side, I will be interested to see reactions at work once I put up a flyer on my cube wall, since I work at a non-profit as well.

EDIT: Is there a link to some standalone hi-res (or at least larger sizes than on the main CFK site) images that I could use for flyers, custom pages, etc (mainly looking for the CFK logo)?

You don't have to ride Racer all that time. I rode for a few hours, then went on to the rest of the park for a while, then came back to Racers for a few hours, then went to do some other rides for a while and so on. I am positive that I wouldn't have been able to handle Racer for more than a few hours at a time.

I made business cards for fundraising purposes last year, but I can't remember how I got the logo that I used. Maybe I got it from the Firstgiving site.

I know riding the ride for any length of time is optional, but my mom doesn't seem to be a fan of Racer at all. Now if they gave me a seat on Delirium/maXair...I would only be leaving for food/drink and the restroom. Just give me small pillow and I would be asleep after a few cycles. :)

I've been clicking around, but I can't seem to find anything that I wouldn't use begrudgingly (I know I'm being picky, but that's how I am with images).

I'm sure Kara could help you. You should e-mail her.

Keep in mind that GKTW isn't picking the rides. I doubt Kara can help you with that.

I think LK meant with the images, and obviously the maXair/Delirium comment was in jest.

Jeff, you wouldn't happen to have any of the images in decent sizes that I could use, would you?

Yep. I meant that Kara could probably tell him where to find high resolution images that he could use in his flyers.

I raised over $500 last year, and won a VIP admission for two to Kings Island.

Travis, just curious....was that VIP tour/admission you won for use that day during/after the event, or was it valid later in the season?

I had to come back another day. It needed to be scheduled and cleared. It was an entire eight hours of VIP, with a tour guide, not including an hour for us to get our included dinner at the buffet and for our guide to be able to go on his lunch break. So it was a nine hour total experience.

We did run into a few issues throughout the experience, but it was awesome, nonetheless! :)

I don't plan on winning this it year, if I can even participate at all. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can make it this year, after all. :-| I have a prior commitment on the 23rd that is going to keep me up pretty late. I might just do the virtual rider.

All signed up and ready to fund raise my little heart out! In the end, it's not about the coasters, it's not about the t-shirts, it's not about the prizes... it's about the kids. Let's make this a record-breaking year in raising funds for this awesome cause!!

Oh, and do I even need to mention where the fun will be that day? Dorney is still where it's at, folks! ;)

I was just about to PM you after seeing a "Carrie" on the Dorney page to ask if that was you....

Yep, that's me. Justin created a team page last year for us. I'm hoping he'll do it again this year. CoasterBuzz needs to represent! ;)

As a member of a wish family (1987 and 1992), I'd like to also chime in to add that - to fund raise for Make A Wish just to walk at a zoo - it's a minimum $200 to participate.

Keep in mind the children your donations help instead of the special ride time at your park. As the sister of a child with cancer who was impacted greatly by the wonder of GKTW, that's where the prize is for us all.

Oh, there will be a team for the Dorney contingent, all right. I think we should be the Fun and Only team.

It's not looking likely that I'll be able to show up in person, but I signed up anyway. Found out today that my employer can donate a ton of software in lieu of cash, so I'm checking to see what they need. That might work out better than cash for them!
