Looks like I'm going to be there helping out for the CP version. Please don't be late, as I'd like to at least get one or two spins on Magnum, please. :)

Aside from the lack of details from some parks, I'm hopeful that fund raising will pick up after people get home from ACE's convention this week. David Lipnicky, ACE's Public Relations Director is down there and I'm sure he's doing his best to motivate the ACE crowd. David has been involved with GKTW for a long time now.

That's a little frustrating, as we're about a month out.
I was just about to post the same thing. I just got a $50 check, and realized the event is one month from yesterday. i hope the Dorney Details are up soon.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

A response to a post I made on the KD facebook page indicated they are very close to posting details.

I just sent an email to Kara to see how I can change from Virtual Rider to participant, because I think I'm going to be able to make it this year. At the very least, I'm going to try! :)
If anyone knows how to do that, before I hear back from here, please let me know.
I told you on your Facebook, but I will say it here to inform everyone else.
Here is an e-mail reply that Kara sent me after I asked her the question...
Hi Travis,
While there is no way to “officially” switch a Virtual Rider account to a Participant account, I can absolutely see to it that you can attend the event if you are able to pay the registration fee down the line.
I would suggest signing up as a virtual rider and drumming up support. If later on you can attend, just let me know. You can essentially donate $40 to your own page and that’ll cover it, I’d just have to take that into account when prizes are awarded as no one else’s registration fees count toward the total. It’ll be an easy switch on the back end. I send all the reports to all the parks, so I can list you as a rider and they’ll never know the difference. The only possible snafu is if we reach the 75 max before you could switch. However, I’m certain we could make an exception if you’d be willing to fill in a seat as soon as someone in the 75 vacates it.
Unfortunately there’s no way to transfer over the existing donations made to a virtual rider account to a rider account. If you do go from virtual rider to participant, I would just recommend changing the paragraph on your FirstGiving page to state you are now able to make the event.
Hope that helps! Thanks again for your dedication.

Through some technical difficulties with my previous account, work and finances, I might have to bow out of the festivities. :( And if I get some extra cash, I'll be sure to spread it to some of you and your pages.

Does anyone know about collecting Checks offline. I have some people wanting to write checks for my Fundraiser but I don't know if they need to make em out to me, First Giving, or Give Kids The World Village. Who do I need to have them make the Check out to?
Chris Knight
Last year I wrote my check out to Give Kids the World, but you can check that out with Kara to be sure. Most of my donations were in cash so I wrote one check to cover all the cash donations I had collected.

I don't think the FirstGiving stuff accounts for company matching, by the way. Last year I was able to do those as "write-in," but I don't think you can this year.
I e-mailed Kara about this, since I got a sizable donation from a friend who marked that his employer would match it. She said, for the purposes of making it count toward my total, to enter it as an offline donation with my friend as the first & last name (required fields) and the company as the address. She also said to let the registration folks know that the check was sent directly to GKTW if they ask on the day of the event. I'm going to add it once he gets the confirmation email from his work, just to be safe.
We're up to 103 participants who've raised $13,305

Last year, I handed all of my check donations in prior to being walked to the Racer roller coaster in the morning for ERT. I also wrote a check for all of the cash donations that were given to me.
I'd e-mail Kara just to make sure though, because it could have changed this year.
A small complaint of mine is that on my Firstgiving page from last year's event, they don't mention the check donations anywhere, and they have subtracted it from the total that I raised on the web page, so it looks like I didn't raise as much as I am claiming. I like to brag about how much I raised in job interviews, so it is a small hassle to have to explain all of that.
