The factory I work at just released the latest newsletter and they included info on the fundraiser. Hoping to get more people interested They employ close to 1,000 people at that location.

Well I found out that the checks are to be made out to Give Kids The World Village.
Also my home event at Worlds of Fun has Modified their Schedule. Instead of Riding Mamba from 10AM-5PM We now ride 3 different coasters during the Coasterthon. Prowler from 10AM-12PM, Mamba from 12PM-3PM, and Patriot from 3PM-5PM. This will be one crazy event here in Kansas City.
Info about the WoF event can be seen here: http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/planning/events.cfm?mode=story&chip=373
So far I have raised $100 besides the $40 I donated to get involved for a total of $140.

We were strongly considering going to WOF for this, but the change in schedule just put it over the top.

I'm glad to see Dorney posted their details while I was away. But the event is three weeks from today and KD has yet to post details..even though there are at least eight participants enrolled. What's up with that?

Lord only knows why KD is dragging their feet. They said over a week ago that they were finalizing their details. Fortunately, it hasn't kept people from signing up. They have 10 so far. I hope you guys don't mind that I've been bumping this thread with status updates. I can't participate this year and thought this was the least I could to to keep the awareness up. I did my second mass posting on Facebook this weekend. I posted on all the ACE pages, and park pages. Plus I went to all the fan websites and have been posting there as well. Unfortunately now that we're approaching crunch time, I will be leaving for the ECC Germany trip and won't be back until the evening of the 24th. I'll have at least one more update before I go. But, I'm not sure I'll have anymore after that. I'll probably only have access to Free WiFi every couple days or so. So, maybe you guys could take over for me. :-)
We're up to 122 participants and $15,167

My new coaster geek friend, Beth, is suggesting that we both do this - at KI. I have never done it and have no clue how it works. I guess I better get reading and planning. Does KI or anyone help with a hotel night or anything?

My first time, too. I sent an e-mail to my cousin in Easton/Bethlehem asking if I could stay with her Saturday night and avoid an early morning 90 minute ride to make Dorney's 8:30 registration...she lives 15 minutes from the park.
I forget the name of the town, but there's a dependable, clean Motel 6 five minutes from KI. I'm not sure the organizers or the park will provide help to that end. I hope you and Beth are able to do it!

Kings Island doesn't help with hotels, Billy. There is a decent Motel 6 that Mike just mentioned above (Beside Skyline Chili), and what looks to be a pretty nice Best Western (that used to be a Ramada Limited), one exit away from KI (Exit 19) that you can get for between $50 and $60 a night.
I always stay at the Motel 6. Their is a Thai food restaurant in the same building that has a smell that can be a little hard to get used to, but it is clean and affordable, with extremely friendly employees, and I have never had any problems there.
One time, I went to pay for my room the next morning, and they told me that the price dropped during my stay, and they charged me the lower price. It was already low enough. I think I paid $34 that night.
I've been looking at that Best Western though. It looks a little bit nicer, for about the same price.
If you have any questions about CFK, Billy, I'd love to help you and Beth with some answers. Thanks for the offer to stay with you guys if I get to go. :)

The last holdout..Kings Dominion..has finally posted some (vague) details. Looks like they'll feature 10-11 coasters (TBD) in rotation for the event. LATE meal..7:15 after the event ends at 7.

Some anonymous buzzer is a gentleman and a scholar. Be certain I know who you are, and I (and the kids, and Jesus) are VERY thankful for your donation.
I'm officially jealous of anyone doing Coasting For Kids in Virginia..Tek, is that you I see on there?
KD will rotate their coasters for the event, with time spent on I-305, Volcano, Hurler, Grizzly, Anaconda, Shockwave, and Dominator.
Even the Drop Zone will be included.
Well, Steel Force is still a decent ride, so I'll FORCE myself. Maybe this is the day I hit the century mark.

I'd opt for marathoning Steel Force over rotating between all those KD coasters. No way I could last that long with the intensity of some of those rides.
Oy, agreed there... I could do without Hurler and Grizzly (both aptly named). Interesting that so many of the parks are doing multiple rides this year. I wonder if just marathoning one coaster draws more attention, though. At CP last year they had a canopy outside Gemini for people to get more information and make donations; I wonder if KD will just have it near the front gate and tell people to go there, or move the booth from ride to ride.
Count me in the group who will gladly take Steel Force for this event. I think SF is ideal for marathon riding.
