Over the last two weeks, the anonymous owner of Geauga Lake's Big Dipper tried selling the coaster on eBay. Through that process, we've learned a little more about the man, the anger directed at him, and his history with The Big Dipper. A representative says the ride will be demolished September 15 without a buyer.
Read more from WKYC/Cleveland.
Ok, I'll rephrase. These pages are being filled with a discussion about whether the owner knew what he was doing, not about everyone's concern over the coaster.
I can't say why anyone cares about this owner or that he made a bad decision. I do know that the internet tends to bring about debate about just about anything and this would be no exception. (Oops, I meant discussion, not debate.)
These topics have been created because of the news articles associated with them, not because someone created them out of interest. The media reports on what is going on in the local area. This is going on. I don't think they have an agenda toward saving the coaster.
EDIT: To be clear, I'm not saying no one cares. I'm saying the things you indicated are not proof that anyone cares.

I think most people here are of the mindset that it would be nifty if by some miracle it was saved, but ultimately not worth the hassle, as has been proven by the dude trying to sell it. And no one is interested enough to buy it. It's been mentioned that Cedar Fair tried to donate the damn thing to certain organizations that actually had the means to move it. No one is interested.
I seriously doubt this guy would get any takers at this point if he tried to give it away.
Taer it down, already.
Or if necessary, tear it down, but keep (or reconstruct) the blueprints, the trains, and as much of the operating equipment as is feasibly useful in the future. That way, at least, something like a 'Dipper 2' might possibly happen. Which, let's face it, even if Prince Charming swooped down and bought, disassembled, transported and reassembled BD, that's about what it would amount to anyway.

First of all, the purchase of the ride was a business move for a private plan. Again, the original plans fell through.
Perhaps the plan should not have been to sell it at a profit. Or something out of an RCT pretend world. Or Maverick.
It's not that no one cares, it's that no one who has the slightest clue about what to do cares enough to bother. :)

If I were to have a broken leg, would the media cover it? No, because nobody would care( except a few people here laughing at me). lol .News is about what is going on that people care about.
Oh yeah, I forgot. I am also Prince Charming and I swooped in and stole the heart of my wife. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Jeff, How do you know what any plans for it were?
Because if they existed, we'd all know about it by now. Face it dude, you're trying to defend a position that by non-disclosure simply doesn't exist.

Carrie I was not refering to you specifically. I believe I said "all of you" If I don't understand the joke I have 3-4 people jump down on me because you may not like me. I make a joke and all of a sudden I'm being offensive. I understand that you all have your little click here, and that is fine. I just have a different point of view from most of you.

I don't get it. If you say "you" when you are talking to me, then I assume you mean me, too. This is why I get so frustrated when generalities are used. It would be better if you just called out the people you want to call out specifically so they understand what you are saying.
I have no problems with you. And I don't belong to anybody's clique. I have my own. Team Carrie. And as I've said, I'm accepting applications.
