And even though Cedar Fair only manages the park, Gilroy Gardens has outstanding landscaping. It's tops on my list.

Wow! CF being praised for landscaping? A new day has dawned.

I take it you have never been to Worlds of Fun.

Ever since Bender was the park pres and now as the regional mgr, the parks under his care have really gone into overdrive making sure that the parks' landscaping is superb. That was not the case before he came to the helm.

No, I have not been to WOF. It just seems for a long time that I have heard people call CP a concrete jungle and how they (CF) have ruined this and that park by removing its'....wait for it....CHARM! I was taking that to mean landscaping. *** Edited 7/3/2008 7:42:49 PM UTC by Bster*** *** Edited 7/3/2008 7:43:19 PM UTC by Bster***

Well, part of that is true. It broke my heart to walk into Knotts and see the concrete slab that supports Silver Bullet. Coasters are pretty, lakes are pretty, concrete is not. I understand the new Dorney is that way too, in spots.

But we also have to say that the landscaping performed in the Cedar Fair parks is outstanding. Flower beds are well planned, executed and tended. Trees that are planted are interesting, if not unusual. Even fenced areas seem to be planned with some thought, not like the Six Flags chain link mess you find at a park like, say, Darien.

Cedar Point always looks gorgeous, KI is looking a lot better these days, too. I've heard the same for WOF and MA. So I say thumbs up to CF landscaping!

I don't think anything is more breathtaking than looking out from the top of a ride or coaster at Cedar Point, and seeing the gulls flying over sailboat-dotted Lake Erie. It almost brought a tear to my eye the first time I saw that, it's so beautiful. I live in a farm community about 3 hours south of CP, so that amazing view of Lake Erie was a far cry from anything I'd ever seen.

A variety of signs have popped up on the fence around swan lake:

"Ride Sally Ride" and "Slippery When Wet" make me wonder if it's going to have a rock-n-roll theme.

I think from those signs my guess for the ride name is Mustang. Only because when I think "Ride Sally Ride" I think of Mustang Sally, Slippery when wet I think just has to do with the splashdown, and do not disturb makes reference to a Mustang being a wild animal and you dont want to scare it. Could be wrong but figure its a good guess.

Mustang would be a good name for a hypercoaster.

Ok - now let's figure out what WOF's is going to be called now ;) All we have to go off of now is that there is a box with a wildcat growling inside it... reminds me of the promotion for SOB at PKI

Tiger? Lion? Chetah? Gwazi? Roar? Kumba? Mufassa?

It's gotta be PUMA :)

The part of the sign that makes me wonder is the bottom. "The park strikes back in 2009". What do you suppose that means?

Hmm...the article says it will only be 4200 feet long. That would make it the shortest B&M mega coaster next to Goliath at La Ronde and Hollywood Dream. And three loops?

A 4200' track length would make for one mighty short hyper, especially if we're looking at a 200'+ height and relatively high speeds. Then again the article also says 3 loops. Weird.

These "loops" may simply be inclined loops and or helices, like those found on other B&M hypers. I guess that the 4200' length, if indeed true, may be the most surprising figure to us at this point.

Goliath at SFoG is 4480, according to rcdb. That's not far off.

I wonder about the length. If the article is correct, the ride maybe be longer.

"The plans describe a coaster 4,200 feet long, based on scale drawings." I wonder if the length of the ride foot print is 4200 feet where the hills may add on to the ride itself. Also, 3 loops may mean helices like someone said. B&M hypers should not have any inversions.

Goliath at SF La Ronde is 4038' and doesn't look bad but with KI's use of the woods, ravine, and splashdown I think it has potential.

And this B&M mega coaster is 3937 feet. With a 144ft lift hill but still posesses the same elements as a 200ft lifthill/5000ft plus layout B&M speed coaster (hyper).

http://www.rcdb.com/id3621.htm

4200 ft of track will do just fine.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

While I agree that the ride in your link looks like fun and anything would be appreciated at KI, that's Not a Hypercoaster, Chitown.
