PKI 2009

I actually am impressed the ride is 4200'. Have you seen the price of steel? We should all be happy it's that long.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Oh c'mon. Everyone here knows a coaster that doesn't break records can't be any good.

Hey! That drawing looks awfully familiar. ;)

11/17/2007 seems so long ago, weirdly.

Those photos answers most of our questions.

It has the same staggered seating as Behemoth.

Is this the new standard for the B&M hypers?

matt.'s avatar
Probably. I haven't really heard anybody complain about them on Behemoth. I mean except for the people who had a problem with them before the ride opened.
Here is what Jeff said in the official news thread concerning the length.

Well if they think turns are loops, then perhaps they think the plan view showing the path is the same as track length, which would not account for changes in elevation. Think about that.

Not to say that is correct, but it does give something to think about.

With this now using the same trains as Behemoth, is this going to be the standard trains on all of B&M's new hypers, or just a choice that Cedar Fair wanted.

Hmmmm.

Splash pool looks cool from those drawings though.

I'm the first to admit when I saw the train design for Behemoth my first reaction was "WTF?" Especially since I had visions of Deja Vu-like confusion during the loading process.

Having experienced the trains first-hand over the weekend I'm now a believer. Each "pair" of seats has it's own queue row. That's two queue rows for each car. That meant the GP who wanted a "front row" ride are lined up in row #1 (the middle 2 seats) leaving row #2 (the outside seats) virtually empty.

How exactly are the new seats on Behemoth set up? I've heard it's a new configuration, but I can't find any pictures of just the seats.

If I remember correctly, B&M defines hypercoasters different than the GP defines a hyper. Perhaps this is why this ride will be considered a hypercoaster.

Notice the two outside seats have been moved back.

EDIT: here's the rendering:

FYI, I found both links by doing a search for "behemoth train."

This should help you out, bunky.

One of the pics from the Dayton News link also shows an overhead view of the seats.

I think B&M defines "Speed Coaster" as anything they put the clam shell restraint trains on.

Am I viewing the picture properly? Is the lift hill towards International Street?

Those pictures for DDN tell a lot. If they are indeed accurate, I think it's interesting that the track will got to the right of the train track (will probably be at the bottom of the first drop, might give a cool flyby effect) and also the second helix comes REALLY close to the WWC, not that that is a huge problem but interesting.

And the helix right over the walkway is an interesting choice as well. I'd like to see some actual renderings to get an idea of what that might look like. On a good note, it looks like it should come nowhere near the Beast.

From what I have gathered, I've come up with this little render. It's hard to tell what exactly goes on the straight sections (other than the first airtime hill). Any ideas on how to make it more accurate?

That looks pretty darn cool regardless of how accurate it is. :)
^^ Very cool
To make it more accurate you might wan to take into account the geography of the land. There is a big ravine after the second hill there.

One Love

I didn't see a third helix. I figure with the track length minus the 3 helixes that's what we're left with airtime hills. I expect only the one and then the minor ones on the return back.
