Cameras ON the trains???? Now that's nuts even for CF!

Man, it sounds like I need a tirp out to ohio this year. I've driven past KI many times on my way trough Cincinatti while hauling freight, but neven been there. Plus, with maverick at CP, I need to go.

Yesterday at ACE's Winter SOAR at Kings Island, we got to go on a brief construction tour of Firehawk. I got some pictures if anyones interested.

The two Top Gun B&M inverts have cameras on the trains. They use it for a DVD that's half stock footage of the ride and half your responses.

Well, I know that firehawk will not be ready for opening weekend, but what about sob?

They have no date set for the re-opening of SOB. They did however more-or-less confirn that they will be G-Trains. Not that it's a big suprise to anyone. What was somewhat of a suprise is that rather than retracking the entire ride, they are trying to see how they might be able to retrofit the trains. Maureen also tried to describe the fill in for the loop. She did a quick hand motion with a Shoosh Shoosh noise. Tony Clark asked if that was the technical term. Anyway based on that it seems it will be some sort of banked S-bend. She said there wouldn't be a tunnel and that the footers have been started for the Swoosh Swoosh (S-bend).

I heard from a reliable source that Firehawk is getting converted to the same system that BORG uses, they are removing the motors from the trains and mounting the BORG system in the station.

I know I shouldn't say this because I'm married, but Maureen is just the cutest thing.

Something I forgot to mention was the Firehawk Queue line will go behind the FOF queue line.

Well the birds were right on the G trains. Lets see if their right about the midcourse being removed and a double down in place of it.

I was under the *impression* (which might be mistaken) that these "G2" trains were brand-new from Gerstlauer and that there were CONSIDERABLE differences from their original wooden-coaster trains (i.e., more than simple modifications).

SheiKra is getting retrofits to the originals, but AFAIK, Sonny's are "factory-fresh" from Gerstlauer....and hopefully a VAST improvement over the Gerstlauers I've already ridden.

Those SOB trains are definitely NOT new.

I've been out of the loop... what colors is Firehawk going to be painted?
