Crazy talk about PKI... Major ride removal??

Who said anything about a coaster leaving?;)

If they take out the Racer, I'll eat a plate of poop in front of everyone here, seriously. That's right up there with removing the Eiffel Tower. Let's go ahead and take out The Beast while we are at it. If this *rumor* is true, who is to say it isn't a coaster to leave. The Beast, Racer, and Eiffel Tower are safe, I assure you that.

Next ride on The Beast is my 1,000th by the way!!! :)

If you look at what PKI has done recently with rides removal, they aren't afraid to take out some of their most popular attractions:

Kings Mills Log Ride - TR:TR
King Cobra - Delirium
Antique Cars/Flyers - IJ:TR

Honestly though, is PKI going to continue this trend or is it some one just picking at us enthusiasts to cause a stir? It's obviously believable...

What'll be truly crazy is if they remove them and send them to Carowinds. They can be the first park with two Top Gun themed rides. Hey, if SFGrAdv can do it with Batman, why not PCar? ;)

My first thought was Vortex when I heard about this yesterday. I don't think it would be the flume. They just rethemed it a couple of years ago and it's a great ride for families. However, if you want to look at a ride in that area of the park, what about Whitewater Canyon? I don't know what kind of ridership it has because we never ride it, but it would be a nice area for a car ride.

I would hate to see Top Gun go because, even though it's short, it's one of the best suspended coasters out there. However, it would be a nice spot for a B&M in an area where a people eater is needed.

Ding, ding, ding, Pat I think we have a winner here.

I personally would be kinda sad to see Vortex go, it's when you have to ride Anaconda that you realize how good Vortex is. Also, while the parcel of land there is nice, it's still landlocked with the Action FX theater to the right, rides and midway to the left and top, and Tomb Raider to the bottom.

I can't believe that some think that the Racers, an ACE classic that has been credited with the renewal of interest in coasters, is going to be removed. The only thing you can place there is another out and back coaster. There's just not enough space to do much. I'm with Tekno on this one. The rumor is that a major attraction could be removed. This does not mean it has to be a coaster. I don't see a B&M at PKI either. They've had ample opportunity to install one, but nada. Why is that? Don't most of the other Paramount Parks have B&M's? Why not PKI?

I'd hardly say most.

Carowinds has the most with 2, an invert and standup.

PGA has an invert.

PCW has a standup.

PKI and PKD don't have any.

Nobody has said it yet, so I will. I hope it's the motion simulator. I haven't been in a while and I have no idea how the ridership is, therefore I'm not basing this guess on anything, it's just purely a guess. Couldn't the land they would access from removing flight of fear also be accessed by removing Spongebob? Would love to see an airtime filled hyper taking off into the woods from there.

Although a B&M invert would kick major butt in Vortex's spot. But as others have said, Vortex is definately one of the better Arrow coasters out there. If it is the Vortex, I hope it finds a home.

Well theres the Replace the Giant Top Spin with a reg model rumor. Thats a major move.

And whoever said there isn't much land behind racer, Is sadly mistaken. the areas bigger than the used section of the park.

While we're just randomly throwing out attractions than can be removed, why not Whitewater Canyon? It takes up a pretty sizeable piece of land, and a ride could be placed there that actually had its entrance in NC near the Thornberry's...

From a business standpoint, unless they're moving the removed attraction to another park, I'd imagine they'd remove something that has been fully depreciated... I have no idea what the depreciation schedule is like for theme park attractions, but imagine it varies by type. For example, I'd bet something like SOB is on a 15-20 year depreciation schedule.

Why does it seem like PKI removes more rides than any other park in the industry? They have more than enough room for every single attraction that has ever been at the park.

There's not one season where enthusiasts go without some removal rumor. Do other parks not remove rides as much as PKI, or is it just such a popular park among enthusiasts that we watch its every move?

Kings Island started for the most part with many used attractions left over from Coney Island. Im not sure about kids rides but since the flyers are gone, The only original ride in original condition is THE CAROUSEL. KMLF/Rethemed as Thornberries and almost totally rebuilt.

Heres another ride that isn't ridden much except on hot days that I could see removed. Congo Falls
