Crazy talk about PKI... Major ride removal??

Brian....PGA also has a Beemer stand-up, but it's JUST as forgettable as the one in Carowinds. The name's the same, the ride's as lame. B&M sure did an *infinitely* better job with SFoG's...

Hmmm, would a Scorcher clone fit in Vortex's bowl of land? ;)

Thanks Bill. Hey at least you still love me, eh? ;)

I never stopped...:)

Check your PMs! ;)

Back to PKI, whatever happens, Jeff Siebert will undoubtedly make the MOST of it...even if it turns out to be a ride removal.

I'd hardly say most.

Carowinds has the most with 2, an invert and standup.

PGA has an invert.

PCW has a standup.

PKI and PKD don't have any.

Just a small correction here - PCW doesn't have a B&M.

Putting the 'odd' in Todd since 1976...
Exactly, Bill...I'm sure PKI will make a right decision. I have a feeling it will either be a "no biggie" like the little water thing going bye-bye, or an "OMG" like when Kennywood announced Phantom was going bye-bye. *** Edited 5/24/2005 4:26:28 PM UTC by Peabody***

ok so lets think about this....

remember a few years ago when all the rumors started about water works being removied? and everybody said won't happen.... can't happen... and then they announced it was gone, only to come back a few weeks later to say it would be re-themed....?

well, what if we are looking at the same thing here.... i'm thinkin if the rumor is true and an attraction will be "removed" it will be FOF.... except it won't be removed, it will simply be rethemed to the MTV Shockwave coaster in the surveys.... with many improvements of course, much like Waterworks wasn't removed, but rethemed to Boomerang Bay..... How do ya like dem apples???

Hmmmm... excellent point!
Is there room for an MF or SROS type Intamin in the locations where Vortex or Top Gun are located? I think that would be more popular in the mind of the GP.

No, there is not enough room for those rides. I would like the ride like MF or Magnum but I do not think GP would care that much for that. Coaster freaks will like that but I doubt that about GP. (Then again, coaster freaks are part of GP.) Remember that PKI is already the most visited seasonal park. Whether they put a Intamin or BM, they are getting plenty of people.

Good point SpecialK - there's a big difference between "last days of" and the "last days as" for a ride. PKI already did something like this in 2005 with the transformation Tucker's to Happy Days. If the MTV theory comes true for FOF, can we all say "Take me to TV Land" if we want to go to Coney Mall??

Edit: This is in response to Stuey's post:

If you really want to get your imagination going, you could invision an intamin hyper in the Top Gun area diving down into the ravine towards SOB, curving to the right and up and out of the ravine, and then having an out and back portion running the length of the parking lot towards the front gate and back, with the finale diving back into the ravine and up in the station.

If you really want to get your imagination going, you could invision an intamin hyper in the Vortex area starting in Vortex's station, but curving to the left, pointing the lift out into the area between the Racer's turnaround and the Beast's mid course brake shed. It could be an L shaped out and back, with half of the ride pointing towards and away from FoF, roughly parallel to Racer, and then heading for a SFNE RoS style finale in the area currently taken up by Vortex's second half.

Is there room? Yeah, probably. Will it happen? I'm guessing no, but with some creative engineering you could concievably put an Intamin hyper coaster on top of a building in downtown Tokyo. Oh wait... *** Edited 5/24/2005 6:02:49 PM UTC by matt.***

You're probably right, Woodyman...my Intamin bias is fairly obvious :)
Just let Intamin of B&M give SOB the Gemini treatment. Give it steel track and new trains. Might be ridable that way :)

Yeah, Matt. You can fit one anywhere..Thunder Dolphin proves that :)

I say incorporate the tower into the design by running it through it's structure somehow. They were innovative when they built the Beast so, I say go for it.

What about Timberwolf, there isn't a whole lot going on there. Sure, they have concerts and competitions every now and then there, but hey, it's just something else to throw out there.

Get rid of Timberwolf, and Congo Falls, and you have a sizable chunk of land there, plus you could replace Congo Falls with a new water ride which is something PKI hasn't done in a while, and would work well with families. Sounds logical to me, but again, just pure speculation.
Fish Hook on the Tower....... :)

Now we can imagine a coaster starting from the top of Eifel tower.......
OddTodd,
That's CaroWinds, not Canada's Wonderland.

Read the post he quoted again. ThemeDesigner. Carowinds was already mentioned before PCW.

I've always known PCW to stand for Canada's Wonderland. I'm not sure Carowinds has a universally accepted abbreviation on enthusiast forums. Most people seem to type it out like Homey G did. At the very least, it's the same method I use.
