SFNO removing rides

And?

Valleyfair replaced this rare classic with the same thing.

Only without the shade or snack machines. Or any new ride that season at all.

I'm not saying SF sucks at all really... They have done more GREAT things in the community and in the park than the bad things... I understand parks/people get 'burned' all the time.. and I agree fussing over it accomplishes nothing.. Just pointing out the reasoning behind the frustration..

I think the 'new attraction coming in 2005!' sign, and then nothing coming bothers people the most... Like dangling a carrot in front of the patrons face and snatching it away..

I have since found out what the attraction that was to be 'coming soon for 2005'... If I told you, it wouldn't surprise ANYONE..

If it happens to be installed during the year, thats great.. If not, I won't be THAT upset... I can ride a similar attractions not too far from here.

Would it be an upcharge attraction?

Not necessarily. There were other buyers interested in taking over the operation but New Orleans City Council had a hard on for Six Flags. We'll never know how Ripley's or some of the others might have handled the property better or worse, but the park would have likely remained open.

I probably should have worded it "where would this park be if it was still Jazzland".

I am still not getting it. It's just an amusement park for god's sake.

If people are frustrated with SFNO so much, either move closer to a better operated park or discontinue the hobby.

You can see how often CF parks get two coasters in one year. Or one coaster in one year. Or coasters removed and replaced with clones of smaller coasters.

Then come back and complain!

I know hear that SF has branded a waterpark in California and added new attractions to it..Was this park included in the conference call last year or is this a surprise addition??

come on CrazyB... Six Flags has always owned waterworld their just renaming the park Six Flags Waterworld and adding a Proslide Tornado and a Surf Slide. At the rate they are installing the Proslide Tornado's at SF parks this year, they got a great deal on them. You might want to take a good look at Waterworld and ask yourself when was the last time they added a new attraction? Adding the SF brand to Waterworld is marketing and nothing more. They could have renamed the park Six Flags Hurriance Harbor and still did the same thing. I'm going to assume the Waterworld name has a strong identity in California and they didn't want to tamper with that identity by changing the name to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

SF spent $25+mil in one year on SFNO. I believe they had up to 5 years to spend $25 mil on that park in the agreement they reached. There were an awful lot of parks that didn't get any new attractions that year because SF invested so much of their cap ex in that park. I'm sure old plans had to be scrapped and new plans are being drawn up on just how they are going to use the land. It's time to just wait and see what happens.

On the rides they are removing, who knows why they are removing them, it could be because they aren't safe, maintenance nightmares etc... or maybe they are justing removing them to tick you off.

I didn't know those answers ......I am not ticked off about not getting anything just dissapointed, just hope you remember that if next year we get a 25 mill waterpark and you don't get anything ..I wish all parks would get something ..Lest we not forget How much the Chicago waterpark cost or the Kingda Ka cost..Would you then complain if we got that and your cap ex got slashed along with park hours being cut and rides removed and an increase in daily park tickets Would you be satisfied and not somewhat dissappointed.. We got what we deserved..and hopefully you believe what you got is deserving for the performance at your homepark...Do I think we are the redheaded stepchild...yes,,who do I blame , Not you or SFI ..It lays solidly on our park management for not fighting hard enough to get a slice of the pie..Maybe this is an eye opener on how they need to tighten up and work harder..By cutting hours, rides and increasing prices will not turn the turnstyles..Hopefully our park will turn the problems that have plagued us in the past, with the deficit they have dealt the season pass holders this year and show a profit..time will tell!!! Again and please take this to heart,,,,Not Mad or ticked off just dissapointed.....

You're right....SF hates New Orleans.....SFNO management hates the season passholders...and we're startin' to like you a lot too....so much charisma and all,,,but I like malformed ellipses made of commas even better,,,,,,,,,,,betcha can't make just one......,,,,;;;;;!!!!!
