I was never interested in SIM Coaster or any of the other crappers like that. I wanted realism or surrealism of some sort. Everything in the other games just seemed too "polygon-sparing" and that forced the characters to look goofy and the rides to look a step up from an 80's 3D simmulation.
The reason I liked the older RCT better was because of the toy like enviornment. Everything felt solid, like it had mass and weight. I felt like I was looking at a mini-toy set, sort of like models of the rides I like. I think that's what a lot of people felt. But for some reason, they felt that just being "3D" was more important, and they lost the solid "toy" feeling. Sure, the graphics are great, but seriously, just the look of the characters alone gets on my nerves. From what I see, they took away what made them different from every other game. Does anyone else feel the same way?
As far as the gameplay goes, I think this was a blow to them. RCT3 feels more like a "simmulation" rather than building a real object.
I think the idea of the peeps being different in this game was a good idea, I just don't think it was implemented well. I think they look a little "corny."

The really pathetic part? I close the ride, and reopen - and peeps start lining up like the crash never happened! I don't even have to repaint the coaster like in rct2!
Who are we kidding though? of course RCT4(if there ever is one) will be just like 3 with insanely high system requirements that'll make RCT3's look like nothing in a few years time because as we all know PC hardware advances are constantly being made every few months now.
I try to insert my RCT2 disk in the drive & a few seconds later get an error saying "no disk inserted" & a few seconds later the CD-ROM opens up,I've also tried to run Simcity 3000 with the same results so now I'm really screwed until we get the new PC sometime around march/april if we're even lucky enough to afford it by then.
