We are going to be at the Universal Studios Complex in Orlando on New Years Eve and Day. Do they have a big celebration and stuff like Disney? Any recommendations on what to do for them and stuff?

New Year's Eve will be our last night there so we were hoping to eat dinner at a nice restaurant and watch fireworks and stuff. But, we don't know if we need to make reservations, etc. So any help on the topic is appreciated.:)

I envy you. They show video of the New Year thing at City Walk in the hotels. Looks like a blast to me.

If you plan to eat at a City Walk restaurant, you might be hosed. I don't think any of them, except for perhaps Emeril's in City Walk or Emeril's Tchoup Chop, take reservations. You can also look into the Luau at the Royal Pacific Hotel.

If you're staying on-property, you can get "priority seating" at the City Walk restaurants, but the only one that ever came through for us was Hard Rock, and it was still busy.

If it gets crowded on a Friday in November, I can't imagine what it'll be like that night.

What group was David Lee Roth in? The name sounds familiar.

Never mind I figured it out.

A better link telling you about the event is here if anyone else was interested.

This sounds like a perfect way to end a great vacation. *** Edited 12/21/2004 2:44:54 AM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

No, you're not old, because I feel the same way. Kyle is just Stoopid;).

clint-who thinks I'd enjoy New Year's Eve @ USF and IoA *infinitly* more than some 14 year old who isn't legal-b.

Now there is something i am not sure i'd want to see if i was in bad shape. I remember VH and DLR was not the person you'd want to be doing any kind of Emergency Medical Treatment on you if he is int the normal state he was in during his VH days

Watch the tram car please....

Who is David Lee Roth?

Oh man, I am going to the corner to cry for a while.

I spent one New Year's Eve years ago at the WDW Magic Kingdom. Oh...my...God. I heard cast members say there were nearly 90,000 in the park that night...though I have a hard time believing it was that high.

I've never seen the place more crowded and I never will again b/c I guarantee you I won't do that again. Now, if I could get a Grand Floridian room I'd be happy to watch the fireworks on my balcony on New Year's Eve but that is as close as I will ever get again.

Well to be honest, the only place I know the name is from the Hannukah song.

DLR was one of the greatest rock fromtmen on the 70s-mid 80's. You might have heard of the band that he was in because they're still around on their 3rd or 4th lead singer. They are known as Van Halen and haven't come even close to their past greatness without DLR.

I need to go crank up Diver Down.

Oh, BTW my New Years Eve will be a mammouth undertaking as Carrie, I and a few friends are going to start the extended version of Fellowship of the Ring as soon as Bond goes to bed and not stop until we've watched the whole Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (extended version).

Have Fun

You're too young to do the stuff in City Walk (where I will be for New Year's and the subsequent week :))... maybe you should head over to Disney. IOA did have a killer fireworks show nightly when I was there last, so I can only imagine what the new years blow out would be like...

They did say that it was dual firework shows from both parks. Plus, both parks are open till 1 am that night. So I probably won't be hanging around City Walk, unless I watch the DLR show. I have heard of Van Halen, just not well enough to know he was apart of them. I just heard they were 1 of the greatest rock bands of all time.

I'm sorry if I'm making you sound all old and stuff, but I seldom listen to R'n'R I mostly listen to hip hop. You know, the music that would give all of you over 40 a headache. ;)

Hey with a ton of drunken idiots out on the road I'd rather have a good time at home. Plus it's kind of hard to go out partying with a four year old.

Don't feel bad, Kyle. When people get REALLY old they listen to their hip pop

(ok, that was reeeeeeeally bad, but in my defense, it is getting late.. err.. early.. err.. someone's had too much caffeine!)

14 years old... listens to rap... likes Starbucks... man it seems like an odd combination to me. Staying in the park would be cool too by the way :)
