Six Flags Mexico Superman - finally a go?

Check out the pics at www.clubmontanarusa.com click on the Superman link. There was only a handful of supports -- no track -- when I visited the park in Aug 2002, so the park must have finally gotten the go-ahead on this coaster.

Who knows. Maybe they did. Maybe they didnt. Maybe Morgan made Six Flags take the parts for it finally. But seeing more parts there does make one go hmmm......

Morgan Hyper.

I was just under the impression that all parts of the track were going there as planned reguardless of if they have the permits in place or not. I'm just hoping that this does get installed there so I have another reason to drag my girlfriend up to D.F., away from her hometown.

Well, wasn't the speculation always that this ride may be destined for Worlds of Adventure in place of Mexico?

If that were true and Worlds of Adventure is no longer an option...well, y'know. Stuff happens.

The parts have always been there, just out of the way in a protected and covered area. The park had planned to build the ride back in 2002, but because they started to do work on the ride before they had the permits, the construction was halted and the park was fined for building without a permit. Apparently they spent all of 2003 trying to get things straightened out and we're under the assumption that they finally got approval. However, it seems a little late in the season to start construction on such a major coaster...

I'm pretty sure that Six Flags Mexico is open all year like SFMM, so IF the ride is built there it could open any time.

IF it turns out to be a Morgan hyper in the mold of say....PRevenge, then :)

If it's more like Steel Forceless or the *pretty good* Mamba, then I'm less excited. Does SFM have the kind of *terrain* to handle a Phantom's Revenge....and potentially even MORE germane to the topic, can Morgan start this one out with Arrow trains?.....;) *** Edited 5/8/2004 8:41:24 PM UTC by rollergator***

I have a feeling that although it may feature some of the same elements as the Phantom's Revenge, the trains will the classic boring morgan trains. I like the trains on the Phantom's Revenge better.

From what I remember, Six Flags Mexico doesnt have too much terrain. I dont know where they are going to put this beast. I would assume somewhere around Batman where it is pretty flat. However, there is a lot of wooded area around SFM.

I am absolutely fascinated by this ride. It looks so good and the POV is just insane. How does it rank to other comparable woodies?

Ok, here's my take on the situation. The track that we're seeing pictures of supposedly has been at the park for the past two years hidden from public view. There has NOT been any new track arrivals at the park, but track is being organized together in a parking lot. It sounds to me that the track is on its way out. Additionally if the project were a go, why hasn't additional track been shipped to SFM (from Morgan's plant) in this very long period of time? Articles I've read stated that the environmental secretariat completely closed down the construction area, completely banning any future construction in addition to the fines. Doesn't sound good for them in my opinion. However, I've heard very convincing (and realistic) rumors pointing that this ride may be sent to another Six Flags park and possibly [finally] built in 2005. I'm not going to say where, or who, but rule out Six Flags parks with superman rides, hypers, and little land, and I think you'll only find a few left.

triktrak: Word from Moosh and others is that it sucks horribly. REALLY rough. :(

SFM's Medusa? Well...at least it looks pretty. Is that enough of a review for you, or would you like me to be more specific?

SFNO or SFStL if it goes to another park. They are both very deserving of a hyper.

It could easily be placed in a park with a Superman coaster- all they'd have to do is rename the ride. Nothing says it has to be called Superman. SFMW, SFAW, SFFT, SFOG, SFStL, SFNO and La Ronde all seem like potential homes to me.

Moosh and Peabody: Thanks for the depressing info on SFMs Medusa. At least I don´t have to fly to Mexico now ;)
I think Medusa looks better than the Boss (which is another beauty with a bad rep).
