I like the commercial, but I think it was shot poorly. It really bugs me that they crop into the man dancing, but loose the logo on the bus. It really bothers me.

I love the footage of everyone on the bus and on the rides though. I think it looks great...and fun.

'Moosh is right. This is about building the brand, a brand that has become associated in many markets with substandard entertainment. In the four years we had a park here in Cleveland under the flags, the entire marketing message I got was, "Cheap season passes," and, "We passed up Cedar Point to come here." That message was matched with a lot of poor experiences.

I think that selling amusement parks on price is a universally bad idea. The parks are about a feeling, not discount laundry detergent. Selling a feeling has a more lasting impression, if you ask me, because it's easier in some respects to offer a value proposition on feeling. With price, that's a hard, concrete fact that you may or may not see value in. Good times, fun and memories are what really matter, and who can deny the value of those things?

As has been said before, now they just need to deliver what they promise.

Jeff I couldnt have said it better myself.I would rather go away feeling that it was money well spent instead of- that sucked but at least it didnt cost alot.

Cedar Point -How an amusement park should be run.

So would you pay more money to go to a new and improved Six Flags park? If so, how much more? Off the bat, I would say if my home SF park would improve customer service to that of a Disney or Cedar Point I would pay $5.00 more per general admission ticket and perhaps $10 more per season pass. My home SF park is SFA by the way.

haiderodes, very rarely will you see a 60-second commercial unless the company has the money to pay for that much air time and is willing to do so. Something tells me you won't be seeing the full 60-second spot all that often.

I think this commercial absolutely succeeds to get its point across, by anchoring itself to the concept of "time for play".
It's like that old saying: First it's time for work, then it's time for fun/play.
So, the next time it's "time for play" for you, you're going to think - SIX FLAGS!

The music is somewhat old, but still a classic, and the voice reminds me too much of George W. to lift my mood, but in general I think it will work fine for Six Flags -

even though I'm divided between wishing Six Flags would be doing better so they can keep parks like SFMM in a better shape on the one hand, and on the other hand have no waiting times at the coasters -> empty parks!

I must say that these statements read a little cynical given the fact that people will actually spend most of their time at the park queueing up to get on the rides.
E.G. last summer in Six Flags Holland: I stood in the line for 8 hours that day!
That's not really what I would call "playtime".

Maybe the whole playtime thing would be better suited to Walt Disneys parks. IMHO

There's a lot of line waiting at Disney parks, too. Waiting in line is an accepted part of spending a day at a park.

Did anyone read the letters column in the TV guide?

Apparently the SF commercial has been such a hit that someone actually wrote to TV guide asking if they knew just who the old man really is.

Dude, you guys gotta chill. Its a gosh darn TV commercial! Enough with the "it doesn't do its job" "that songs annoying" "First its time for work" bullcrap. Enjoy the commercial and let it be, theres no point in doing this. And even if you did know who the old man was, what the hell would you do if you found out? Take a trip and meet the guy? I just don't understand some of you....

The point im trying to make is: The commercial's funny, enjoy it, then drop it.

'nuff said.

That's exactly my point.

the commercial has got people talking & they really like the way it was put together but the bigger question is has it actually been good enough to bring people flocking to the gates of the local SF park faster than a swarm of mating cicada's?

I just couldn't resist using the cicada punchline in there what with all the "buzz" over the cicada invasion that's been going on lately. :)

The Six Flags bus from this commerical is on tour, we now have t-shirts (some nice looking ones and some really ugly looking ones) and while at SFA on Saturday, SFA had a big balloon (you know, one of those that use a fan to keep it standing up in the air and it flops back and forth, I usually see them in Super Bowl half time shows) of the old dancing man. What's next, An old man balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
