New Six Flags Commercial

Markieb said:The music is up to date...

That's the funniest thing I've read in awhile! That song is about 4 years old, and wasn't good when it came out. They used to play it as a preshow song at Sea World and at all those lame Disney DJ party things they set up for special events.

Other than the song, I think the commercial is pretty bad. For all the money spent on an advertising agency, they should have gotten something way better. Although, I'm partial to the old SFMM, people wearing sunglasses on the coasters commercials. I remember when Freefall and Shockwave first opened, those commercials were the coolest!

If only SF emplyee's acted like that...

Been around for awhile...

Hey, some employees do. (The only ones I know of are the employees of Forest Frontiers at GAdv, they're crazy! :))

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
I saw it tonight on fox while watching american idol, was funny to watch. getting me excited for my trip to sfgrm in may.

Yes I know that! I used to dance to it at the club.

Guess could have been more clear. Up to date meaning, Hip dance music, modern sounding. I was not referring to the actual age, but rather the style.

Matt - Thanks for contributing such important data!

Not to mention that song is older than four years, Matt...maybe when *you* started listening to it. :-P

Joe, has liked the Vengaboys since late 1998 and still would listen to them today...but I like good music, unlike Matt!

Good god! 4 years old!? What will all the teenaged kids think? They might not come to the park because the catchy music in our commercial is 4 years old! And all our coasters are 4 years old too! Those aren't up to date or appealing anymore either!

It played at almost every commercial break last night during American Idol, but it was a 30-second version that dropped the beginning. It also featured more footage of SFMM.

I live in Western Maryland and saw the ad on the other night.Didn't notice which park they're advertising in the area.Live 1.5 hours from SFA,most likely them.I thought it was amusing, but I

have a twisted sense of humor.

Joe: It's funny that you listened to this song in 1998, seeing as it was released in March of 1999. I guess we'll call it even since we were both a year off.

Markieb: You're welcome! I love contributing important data, especially when others appreciate it so much.

ApolloAndy: Shame on you! As a DJ (assumed from your profile pic) you should definately be up on your music. Try anything off of Moving Shadow or West End Records, or stuff by DJs like Dimitri from Paris or Rob Playford. You can get some schooling at Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music.

I do DJ and I do try to keep up to date on my own music, but I still love classics which I do consider "We Like to Party" although I would never play it at a gig.

I mostly stick to Positiva and Vandit/Mute (whatever PvD decides to produce on), but I just get whatever my local record store has in stock, regardless of label.

Legendary said he had been listen to the Vengaboys since 1998 not the song. *** Edited 3/18/2004 12:38:16 AM UTC by Jacob Green***

I saw it in Chicago ( the short version) 5:45pm
just filling in for jacob on the update.
RCT MASTER great signature.

Cedar Point -How an amusement park should be run.

Andy: I guess I'm more into the deep house scene, which is all about just having a good time. I like listening to trance when reading or driving, but don't see it as very danceable. Ishkur's site is very entertaining, but not everybody agres with his opinions. I happen to like many genres that he considers stupid, but the site is very entertaining nonetheless. The first time I went there I was drawn in for hours. Yeah, I was into this scene failrly early (1993), but many came before me. Agree to disagree?

Jacob: I was orignally searching for the release date for the Vengaboys first CD. After a more thorough investigation, I found that this song was, in fact, released in December of 1998. Kudos to Joe! In my own defense, my original post said "about 4 years", so I was not claiming to be the Vengaboys expert.

Either way, I still think the commercial is definitely under par for a respected advertising agency. It's what I should have expected from Six Flags. I was expecting to be blown away by this new campaign. I guess a low budget only goes so far.

Apparently, I'm in the minority here, so good job Six Flags (and boo to all you sitting back not wanting to get flamed).

Yeah. I just finished reading it (having started about the time of my last post). Very interesting though I don't agree with many of his opinions. I find house in general more approachable and more dancable, but I am actually really moved by a lot of trance anthems, which is what really inspires me as DJ. I like having a good time and all, but It's not what I'm about as a DJ.

I'll agree with you, I don't like the commercial at all - but I was withholding my opinion because these obviously won't be the only commercials made for this season. Anyone here old enough to remember the commercial when Shockwave opened at SFGAm? Now THAT was an awesome commercial!

-Keith "Badnitrus" McVeen

Well then it's settled. People who like the commercial = cool. People who don't = lame. Now it all makes sense!

BOOM.

Joe, not lame.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
If by 'lame', you meant 'has good taste', then you're right! Joe, what would we do without your words of wisdom.

-Matt D.
Well for one thing, you certainly wouldn't know when "We Like To Party" came out!

[end transmission]

JTC, the T stands for Thomas

OMG I have a new sig!!!
We all know when you did though - ZING!

I feel the commercial was lacking the innovative nature of other commericals on TV. IT's about 5 years too late. (Staying on topic) *** Edited 3/18/2004 3:18:54 AM UTC by Matt D***
