nitro230ft: We think that it's going to be a rocket coaster ala Xcelerator that reaches either a 200-foot-ish or 400-foot-ish height maximum, that the Chaos ride at least will be moved. No announcements yet and seems that there won't be for at least another month. Red, yellow, white, and beige Intamin track by Mean Streak. Active construction in Area 51.

Red and white track, yellow and beige (or tan) supports. There was also rumors of blue track somewhere. I think it will definitely be a rocket coaster (after reading jeffs posts from here, GTTP, and ACN). Everyone, as well as me, seems to think it'll be around 400 ft or so. Therefore it'll have to be launched a over 100 mph.

The only facts are that theres obviously Intamin track and supports by meanstreak and construction has started. A structure of I-beams is being built in area 51.

I was only saying that the ride will have to lauch at a faster than 122mph in order to reach 122 mph at least 160. Launching at 122 will leave you going around 80-90 mph.

What the heck is this supposed to mean? Lose 40 mph where? Over the course of 5000+ feet of track, of course it will. We're only worried about getting it over the highest point once, after that it's all gravity. Just look at how high S:TE gets with it's launch, I'm sure they can go higher. Don't you?

Incidentalist, I completely agree with you, however, everyone should try not to compare this coaster with Superman as Superman only has those miniature cars. Now, I know Crash is wrong, I just want to make a point that probably Superman and this new coaster won't be as similar as many people tend to see it.

The deal about the multicolors through different areas would be sweet but thats alot of track. Maybe the white color could be for the area around Power Tower.

Just read something on Cedar Fairs site. In a press release, it said this:

The Partnership also said it plans to build another major new thrill ride at Cedar Point for the 2003 season. Parts of the new ride have begun to arrive at the park and construction is scheduled to begin after Labor Day. A formal announcement with further details on the ride will be made by the park at a later date.

There goes my guess that the disappointment will be that it'll open in the 2004 season. Not complaining tho, we won't have to wait longer to ride it.

How is the hydraulic equipement changed so that it can launch faster? Can Xcelerator be launched at a higher speed?

i don't know exactly how they do it, but yes Xcelerator was launched at 100 mph during testing. i think they need to be able to change it to adjust for temperature or something.

Why can't I shake the feeling it will be themed to outer space with robots and futuristic text and techno againnnnn????????
