Intamin Hyper vs. B&M Hyper

Umm.. you can't get a great view from ANY seat. What if you are in the 5 row from the back. You can't get a "great" view from that row. All I would see would be someone's head in the way. If "you" are taller, you would be able to see but not me.

Now you are saying that "you" can't get a "great" view from a B&M not in the front row. Well no duh! If you want a "great" view, "you" sit in the front, not in the middle. And if "you" want speed and airtime, sit in the back.

Although I've only been on Millennium Force, I prefer the Intamin rides, much for the same reasons Natalie said.

That and I've never almost fallen asleep on an Intamin :o) If it weren't for the sound of the trims on Raging Bull I might have!

I just wanted to point out that mf is loved because of it's speed, height, and steepness. anyone can make a coaster taller, faster, and steeper, but B&M can design good coaster without those things. Examples are all three of the B&M hypers which dont even topped 250 ft. Im not saying Intamin can't design a hyper w/o height, speed, and steepness, because they can [S:ROS (SFNE)] im just saying that B&M creates true masterpieces w/o the qualities of mf, but when B&M do top 300 ft. i have a feeling it will be a lot better than mf giving more than just one or two moments of airtime.

I liked the ride best on S:ROS, then Goliath better than either AC or MF. Don't get me wrong, I love B&Ms but AC didn't "get" me the way S:ROS did. From what I've heard, Nitro may change my view of BIG B&Ms - Florida's tallest isn't that tall, and the other tall B&Ms I've ridden are RR and Alpie, not really comparable. MF was fantastically tall, steep and fast, but I thought I wanted more moments of airtime.

As far as capacity, I've made the point here many times that I really appreciate CP's policies towards keeping the lines moving, especially on their latest thrill machines. Natalie has a GREAT point about the stadium seating, kinda makes all seats a little more like the front in terms of view. Two across I think helps the view from the back of the train too.

StealthmF5m3, again, I was being sarcastic. I don't know what school you go to, but there's no need to put quotes on the words great, you, or anything else.

Nevermind.

I have been on AC at BGW and SROS at SFA. I must say that SROS produced an INSANE amount of airtime. However, I am not completely about airtime, and since AC did provide decent airtime, I give the nod to it for these reasons:
1. MUCH more comfortable.
2. More dips, less helices(Especially the black out kind. I just hate greying out :()
3. No ridiculous Max Height limit.
4. TWISTING drops, which SROS had none of.

Therefore, while I think both rides were bordering upon epic, I must give the nod to B&M.

I don't know where some of you heard that Cedar Point went to B&M first to build MF, because they really didn't. Cedar Point knew what it wanted in the ride, stats-wise, so they asked for an estimate, or bid, from each major company to get a picture of how much it would cost. Intamin won with the lowest bid. Using the 3 styles of track based on the forces and stresses in that part of the ride really made Intamin a top choice for Cedar Point...economically and arcitecturally.

Personally, I don't know how anyone can say there is any vibration on MF. The only thing that may be perceived as vibrations could be the air whipping past your ears. :)

I personally like Intamin better than B&M for smoothness and ride experience, and seating arrangements.

Funny how people towards the beginning of this thread thought that it would be closed because is was a "vs" thread. It just goes to show that if you really put some thought into a question, and if the thread is not meant to be replied to with just one word, that even "vs" threads can grow to be big. This is a good thread so far, I like seeing people opinions on what makes a better hyper. (ie, speed, smoothness, airtime, height, capacity, seating).

The irony in this thread is the fact that both of these companies used to be the same one. Just look at how different they turned out...

I've been on superman: ride of steel @ sfdl (considered by many to be the "least exciting intamin hyper") and i've been on mf.
I've been on Nitro (what many consider to be the best b+m hyper made to date)

Once again, my vote goes to intamin. I find s:ros at sfdl a lot more exciting then nitro. The only thing i liked about nitro's layout was the first and second hill- they were the only two parts of the ride where i really felt any force at all. (and i was in the back seat, futhest to the right on the outside)

On superman: ride of steel you've got a great first drop (where in the back seat i can see the track ahead, and by the way i too am not the tallest of people) The second hill gives good air time on the way down, the first helix gives you a little boost of speed and some insane positive g's which i found to be stronger then on nitro's helix. After that half of insanity, you get a small breather on a straight away where you get to enjoy your speed. Next is the air time loaded third hill (best airtime out there, imo.) Next is the second intense helix followed by completely out of your seat bunny hops. Through out the entire ride you keep a high consistant speed, which on nitro, you don't (higher up wards helix reduceds speed and block brakes also do the same.)

As for dispatch crews on nitro- they suck! I was there in the morning and i saw at least six trains that where only half full when the que line was prorbably out near batman.

As you can see, the reason why i like intamin isn't because millennium force has a steep, intense, high speed drop. I like them because they have awesome ride layouts. (i can't imagine what expiditon ge force and s:ros at sfne are like!)

S:RoS at SFDL: The helixes look lame because you drop, turn, up the second hill. When you get to the helix, is look tame. There is maximum height limit, and that ain't cool if your tall, then you can't go on the ride.

The track looks like Wild Mouse coasters on the helix. Not appealing to me.

Believe you me, Nitro was a great ride, I loved it, it had lots of airtime, speed, and and incredible first drop. Apollo is fast and has incredible air too. Raging Bull combines both airtime and twists, the layout is the best I've seen on a steel coaster, That means that i like B&M hypers for all 3, not just Nitro. And now MF: I love it for the first drop and the speed. other than that i'd say the design was uninspired. Goliath:I agree with you. I'm sure once B&M top 300 feet, they will give an incredible ride, with air, and speed combined, however, being fair to MF and Intamin, they where the first to top 300 ft, so in a way its a prototype, im sure if they top 300 again, then the layout will be a little more creative. S:ROS is another thing. I haven't ridden any of them, but from what I hear, SFNE's version is perhaps the best coaster...and i've heard nothing but good things about the other 2. But B&M has really done it with their 3 standing hypers, and im sure they will do it again with the upcoming Silver Star hyper.

In talking about pph, on Raging Bull when I went they weren't close to their theoretical capacity. The ride ops weren't filling the seats. If there was two groups of two in two seperate rows they wouldn't put them together in one row allowing 4 more people on they just dispatched the train.

Cooooommmme onnnnnnnnn. Is look tame? I'm assuming that you mean it looks tame. The truth is, the first helix makes a lot of people grey out, including me. If thats not intense, what is? Drop, turn, up the second hill...what about it? Would you rather not have the turn or something? Jeez. Also, I'm 6 foot 4, and I can ride.

Raging Bull looks like a horrible ride. I mean, it looks like a yawn inducer with all those twists and everything. And the ugly color of that track, it has SO much to do with the ride itself. I don't know how anyone could like that ride, even though I've never been on it.

One thing i don't get is how so many people dislke B&M hyper trains. They are by far the most comfortable seats on a rollercoaster. What it is bascically, is a La-Z-boy recliner on wheels, also, the view from the middle isn't that bad, but that shouldnt really matter, because from just watching the ride as it goes by, you know that its gonna be awesome.

I like B&M trains. They are comfy and sure I could fall asleep in them cause of that, if the ride was not moving. I like Intamin's raised seating and the layout of S:ROS at SFNE. I have ridden Bull and that one, so far they are the only hypers I have ridden, besides Magnum. As far as layout, both are good, and my current fav is the one I rode last and will change next time I ride.
