Your park's trim brakes

It sure sounds like brakes to me. Chhhh chhh chhh chhh chhh

Da Poodle

Coming in 2003-The Spawn Of Magnum!

OK SFGAm.....(not counting blocks)

Whizzer: 0 (I dont believe those things on the 2nd hill are trims...if they are they arent used, ive also seen some wheels but again not use to slow)

Demon: 0 (Mid Course never hits..it may accidentally scrape a fin brake but not actually be in use)

Raging Bull: 2 (and then the Mid course is used too)

Viper: 0 (damn straight!)

Deja Vu: 0 (has rollback brakes but arent used to trim..unless theyd LIKE to valley it) :)

American Eagle: 2 (top and bottom of helix....i hate when the one at the bottom of the helix is used! (not too often) the last set of brakes before the final helix is the block, and, of course, it is used)

Iron Wolf: 0

Batman: 0

V2: 0..lol unless you count the holding brake!

Shockwave: 0...well it has none anymore! Only a block that was used as a trim, and i dunno about anyone else but i liked when this almost stopped the train as you got great hangtime threw the ending)

Spacelys: 1..i guess....there is a brake before the turn into the station...probably so you dont get kiddie whiplash :)

Unannounced Red and Blue coaster with an "S": :) id assume what SFoGs has but doesnt use.

Six Flags Marine World:

V2- Coming back off the front spike both times you are slightly slowed down then accelerated to the correct speed for the new rear tower.

That's it. We will have a few more next year with Zonga; trims all over the place!

SFGAmViper: Actually, Whizzer has block brakes on three of its hills, and they always slow me down.

Perhaps I'm just unlucky, 'casue what I'm about to write isn't pretty:

Demon's mid-course always slows me down some. It's also very noticeable from the midway.

Raging bull has three, as far as I'm concerned. Both trims always hit (in my experience), and that mid-course is horrible.

The Eagle has three (per side). As far as I know (and I could be wrong), the brake before the final helix is not actually a block brake. Just because it's capable of stopping the train (grrrr...) doesn't mean it can be used as a block. Anyone know more?

Shock Wave actually had trims right after the first loop. They were quite violent in its later years. And, of course, the mid-course invariably slowed the train down. But since Shock Wave's gone, it doesn't count any more.

According to General Public, Superman has/will have two trims.

All I have to say is, Thank God for Viper and Batman!

Actually the Thunderhawk has two. One at the top of the second hill (before the turn) and the one you mentioned befor the bunny hops.

Darn it, I used to like ThunderHawk....now it has FOUR sets of trims....;) No one informed me if I was limited to ONLY the *standard* 25% increase in tomfoolery....
Valleyfair:

High Roller: 2 sets of very strong trims.

Wild Thing: One very long stretch of very heavily used trims

Mad Mouse: Hard to say. Maybe 8-10 sections of trims usually only one being used. Hardly affects the ride at all.

Excalibur: One set of 4 brakes on first drop. Another which the ride isn't greatly affected. First drop still have airtime in the back seat although the brakes may have weaken it somewhat the drop still works and that's what counts!

Actually, doesn't PKI's Racer have a trim either side at the start of the turnaround? So add that to PKI's list of trims.

Ok....im going on working at the park and seeing/running/hearing these coasters everyday and talking to other employees about them.

---I dunno about them being blocks.....but they have never slowed me down on any ride in 1998-2002..except the one right before you go around the lift.

Perhaps I'm just unlucky, 'casue what I'm about to write isn't pretty:

----Again, never been on in 50+ trips and all the days i ahve worked...and makes no noise at all (are you SURE you arent thinking PGA?) I walk under this ride everyday going into SWT..never a sound from the block (which is after the tunnel)

Raging bull has three, as far as I'm concerned. Both trims always hit (in my experience), and that mid-course is horrible.

--hmmph! i try not to respond to people complaining so much about the brakes on my main ride. But that is a block used as a trim...it isnt "just a trim" and it hits based on the rides speed most of the time. So if you ride on slower days it hits even less..but sometimes it barely hits on hot days....do you just pick the worst days??

---It is a block, remember Eagle used to run 3 trains on each side. I know it is a block.

Shock Wave actually had trims right after the first loop. They were quite violent in its later years. And, of course, the mid-course invariably slowed the train down. But since Shock Wave's gone, it doesn't count any more.

---LOL Shockwave never had brakes after the 1st loop (except in 1999 i believe, they put some up there and tested them but then took them down right away) GASM at SFGAd and Viper at SFMM, however, do have them there.

I'm not sure how your SUF will be configured due to changes in the trains. It may only need one. Or three. Or none. Your mileage may vary.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I've stood in the exit of Face/Off during many hundreds of ride cycles and I can assure you that the station brakes do not trim the train at all during normal operation.

If the computer is satisfied with everything, the brakes aren't used on a moving train at all.

HS, you worked WTRA last year...Cool stuff! Absolutely getting the MOST out of what could really be quite a lame flume ride if not done well....the elephant spraying us wuth water at the end was awesome...for the kiddie section of the park, that ride "just plain rocked"...:)

Yep, I was there the second half of the season. The elephant is definately mentioned by 99% of people who are getting off of the ride. :)

Bill, I'm surprised you didn't ask me about the trims on DMT. Few people know about 'em.

Like I said before, I really don't notice them (trims) unless they notice me first...;)....on DMT, they've never really *grabbed* the train when I was riding, a slight tug at best.....besides, knowing how I am about mine rides, it's unlikely I'll ever say anything negative about one....(well, except the ones at KG and HW that are just slow in arriving)...;)

Oh, and I've *never* had a Q-bot in my pocket....ROFL. Why is it that gay humor is just FUNNIER than straight humor...oh well, I'll leave *that* one to the philosophers...

The only way the station brakes on Face/Off would ever activate on a moving train is if for some reason it releases the train to soon or something like that, same way for the looping brakes on the other side.

Nah, Gator,I just mention it because no one really knows about em. I don't care about trims too much either. On GCyclone, the ride is nuts with out them in the mornings, I'll say that... but it's still great with 'em! Can't beat that!

I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't Lightning Racer have a trim in the tunnel?
