Your park's trim brakes

Coasterdude318 -

Nitro's has two trims, correct, but one is in the valley before the third hill and one is in the valley after the third hill (right before the hammerhead). Like you said, they are rarely on, and if they are, the are very unnoticeable, one of the reasons it's my #1!

If there are brakes in valleys, they are (most likely) not trims but brakes to stop the coaster if the ride was to valley in that area.

Churro: I would assume that if the MCBR on Goliath, for instance, is called a trim brake, you'd have to say that Riddler's Revenge has a trim brake as well. About 9 times out of 10 I feel the MCBR on Riddler's kick in before you drop into the first corkscrew.

Also, Colossus has *way* more than one trim brake at the MCBR, I feel the train get slowed down repeatedly before drops on that ride, at least 4 different times, in my recollection.

Tom - Not sure what you're feeling when you ride Colossus but there are brakes in the following places: station, mid-course, final brake run, and in the transfer track. But between the top of the lift and the final brake run there is only one set: mid-course.

Conneaut has 2:

Toboggan going from the top to the bottom of the spiral has a gear which governs the speed, the Blue Streak has a trim before the turnaround.

PKI
Beast and Adventure Express are the only I can think of. Anyone know for sure?

The Beast at night-Two peas in a pod?

Joe: I wasn't aware Nitro had an additional trim after the third hill; thanks for pointing that out. While that wasn't trimming any speed off when I was there, the midcourse definitely was. So Nitro has three, no?

redman22: Trims occur in vallies all the time. Since I see your from the Chicago area, aren't you familiar with Raging Bull's third trim (right before the figure-8)? That's definitely not for catching the train if it rolls back.

Mamoosh: Both me and my friend noticed it when we went last time, it felt like there were brakes before a number of the bigger drops. We kept getting ready for a nice little drop only to feel ourselves lurch forward a bit right before the fall. It was very frustrating.

Honestly, it's been a few months since I rode it, but I can remember more than 1 instance on that ride where that happened, and both me and my friend being *very* disappointed out how slow it seemed to be going.

'Course, like I said, this is all from memory.

coasterdude318,

I know of the brakes located there but in all my rides on RB, I have NEVER felt those brakes hit...

PKI

AE has two, Beast has 4, Sonny has 2, FOF has one but they arent used as trims anymore, FaceOff is trimmed through the station, Vortex comes near a complete stop at the midcourse. Beastie is trimmed as is Ghoster Coaster.

I think I got them all.

Wow, redman, you just must be incredibly lucky! I don't think I rode RB *once* last year without those brakes grabbing (sometimes *hard*). And believe me, I rode it a lot.

Tom S - there's no question the ride, in its current state, sucks. There is very little wood track bed left. Most of it has been replaced by steel I-beams. I suspect it to reduce wear and tear, however I'm not sure how much damage those lightweight Morgans cause.

I'd love to see the park bring in GCI to completely retrack the ride and purchase some new PTCs or even Gerstlauers since the laterals are non-existant. But I doubt that will ever happen.

Yeah, if you're counting the block brake as one, then yes (that does hit all the time, except for empty morning test runs), it has three.

Oh that's it! You've crossed the line now! :)

Actually, Face/Off is not trimmed through the station.

Everytime I rode face/off last year, had to be about 5 times, it was trimmed through the station on the first pass.

At PKI, Beast has a few, FOF has one but not used anymore for trimming purposes, SOB has 2, AE has a couple, Beastie, Ghoster coaster has 2 i think, Top Cats Taxi Jam is trimmed going through the stationn on the second pass, Vortex's Trim/blockbrake.

And I'm 98% sure Face/Off isn't trimmed going through the station on the first pass.

So you believe that you are studying us, then kindly explain why you are the ones trapped in your seats.

There aren't any station brakes on any of the invertigo's at all, sure there's a parking brake just before the entrance to the cobra roll but we all know it's not used while the train is actually running the course.
Dorney has its fair of trims.
1.) Hercules: 2 trims(1st drop, 2nd drop)
2.) Thunderhawk: 1 trim (peak of 3rd bunny hill)
3.) Steel Force: MCBR (depending on what your wearing and what the weather is like, the midcourse on Steel Force can hold tightly or barely hold.)
