Yet Sandusky supports dozens of profitable hotels (many of which are closed in the winter) because many people do that exact thing.

I just love that this guy is calling us coaster nerds because we're arguing that a place needs more than just coasters.
This is definitely one of the reasons I let my interest in this hobby slip to the bottom of my list in recent years.
One of the most attended parks in the country could benefit from a nearby hotel. Not everyone who desires to travel further than an hour or so to get to a park is a coaster enthusiast. Families and even groups of younger collage-aged friends would benefit from having a close place to stay near the park. I still don't know how you can't believe that, and I am even more amazed at how passionate you are against the idea.
Now we're back down to "an hour or so" LOL. Really? Book a (likely expensive) room when you're an hour or so away from your house

No one ever said "need". The question of the day (month, year, decade) is "would it be profitable"? That's the source of the debate...NOT need. Why did I allow myself to get dragged back into this?
And profitable ideas dont get squashed by jerkwater little town governments. They get squashed by lack of funding, because the idea is inherently not profitable.
Yeah, because governing bodies always do the most fiscally responsible things. Always.

I previously stated that I was partial to "Boardwalk Flyer" over "Wild Woodie"..although the "woodie" is starting to grow on me...
Yeah, I know, "That's what she said."
But since the ride will span the beach between the piers, how about "SandBlaster?"

Apparently his opinion matters more than you than you're letting on.

Nope. Not really. It's not him, specifically, but the general way this form of recreation has gone.
Hey, Josh, is it? Totally off topic:
Always wanted to ask you what the picture is on your posts. I can't really make it out, but it looks like a concert setting of some sort. Just curious..it looks cool.

I feel bad for Bill's kids.
Why? LOL. I take them to Knoebels and Morey's Piers every year.
Mike-pretty sure that's a Dave Matthews concert. Could be wrong but I doubt it ;-)

What are you trying to goad me into here? My family enjoys the ocean. Amusement parks are typically day trips here and there.

I'm going to guess you would be one of the countless guests asking me "Hey, what ocean is that?" or "Is that the Atlantic/Pacific Ocean?" and truly mean it if I still worked there. I mean, its not like everyone else thinks Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay are oceans, you could probably convince them that the brownish-green water is a local feature that results in saltless water. ;)

Sure is. Clint's right, it's Dave Matthews Band - 11/20/2010, Charlottesville, VA. I took that on my phone.
I do not know if this is relevant, because I have not taken the time to read some of the longer rants, but Santa's Lodge is not seasonal (although very empty during winter time)... And apparently it is profitable.
