As for a tolerance to others' opinions, I'm definitely not one to jump down people's throats for not liking a certain ride. Above, I was just pleading my case...

But, we already know how dumb and pointless your opinions are, RobCoasting. The "running of the bulls" comes to mind. It's just amazing how you aren't satisfied with 4 of the best coasters ever created, isn't it? Number 1, 3, 8, and 12, and you hated them...
CPgenius, that "dumb and pointless opinions" comment you made? The feeling is mutual. Yes, four of the best coasters as ranked by Amusement Today. Even they acknowledge the fact that their poll is merely a popularity poll. If you want a *real* poll, check out Mitch Hawker's Wooden and Steel Tracked Rollercoaster Poll.
I hated Magnum, disliked Mantis alot, but Raptor and Millennium Force were only disapointing. MF wasn't very disaspointing becuase I knew from the layout it was not my type of ride. Too spread out, too many overbanked turns, not enough hills for a hyper (giga - whathaveyou).
You think they are four of the best....NOW. Go out and ride a few more coasters, for example, your *SECOND* B&M Invert or Stand up,and THEN get back to me, when you have some experience under your belt. Until then, get off my case...!

Hmm, I wouldn't expect any defensiveness regarding Cedar Point from someone with the screen name "CPgenius"... I have to agree with Rob about Magnum, definitely way too rough, and Raptor, which was blah in the g-force department.
Agreed, Raven Rider!

Robcoasting- I know everyone has their own opinions but you don't have to be so harsh about it. Say I was going to Cedar Point for the first time and I was just part of the GP. If I read what you said about those rides, I could probably think that all the track is, is a little circle. From what I have heard, their are worst rides.
I was not being harsh, just truthful. That's simply how I feel about said rides. There are definitely worse rides out there I agree. But if a member of the GP went in with these comments in mind, perhaps they'd be overwhelmed by the rides, or they'd at least meet realistic expectations. Just my $0.02...

Titan, I was hoping for a taller, faster SROS at SFNE, Me and my friend were pissed when we rode. It lacked airtime and it lacked a good layout. Goliath must be 10 times worse since its shorter.
Sorry, I'm usually not one to criticize, but...First of all I have never ridden Goliath or Titan. But just from looking at them, 255' hyper coasters, I think you have the wrong attitude at an amusement park. You were pissed when you rode? There must have been something you liked about the ride. The drop into the tunnel was no good? You didn't like going 85 mph? What about that high G helix? You didn't like it either? I think you'd have more fun if you just didn't analyze rides so much. Just ride, have fun and relax.

I envy you, and I don't. I envy you that you have ridden over 200 coasters, but from your posts, it sounds like you think that nothing is good enough, and I can only imagine this was brought on by riding too many coasters.
I'm just content with my little track record, and I'll pace myself. But my relatively smaller track record doesn't make my opinions any less valid. When posting, it seems as if your words give a certain "better than you" attitude that doesn't sit well with many people. This may be on purpose, or just the readers way of interpreting it. I usually choose my words carefully, as to not send the wrong message, unless it's a heating discussion, like the comment I made about you. I just thought you were trying to start something like you did in a previous thread. And I wasn't that only person who thought that you were.
Track records aren't all that matter...

I'm the only one who knows which coasters are good and which ones are not. And I'm not telling! :)

So many coasters - so little time.
And what's this about Magnum being too rough? There's no such thing as too rough.

RobCoasting, are you seriously only 17? And you have that many coasters? How have you ridden all of those?
Yes, I've been fortunate enough to ride more than 250 coasters since I was 14; I'm now 18. How? Driving to the parks and riding the rides, of course! :)
CPGenius: I envy you, and I don't. I envy you that you have ridden over 200 coasters, but from your posts, it sounds like you think that nothing is good enough, and I can only imagine this was brought on by riding too many coasters.
Well, you are misinterpreting my posts then, CPGenius. There is plenty that I find good in, especially the Legend. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, it's taken me four years, but I've found perfection in the Legend. Now that my "search" is over and done with, I'm alot more laid back in my coastering, and, truth be told, I'd be happy with a couple trips a year to Holiday World to ride the Legend and that's it. Now, everything else is just "filler" I'd suppose.
Although, I must say, I get an equal thrill out of the Intamin SRoS' and Rampage as well. I've certainly changed as an "enthusiast" over the past four years I suppose. For example:
- I went from thinking that everything I rode was great to believing that only about a third of the coasters I've ridden are even good.
- I went from liking steel better to liking wood better.
And overall, I'm alot more laid back in my coastering than I was, say, two years ago. Now that I'm not so damn obsessive, and I'm not on a "mission" anymore, I spend much less time on the 'net and rarely talk to enthusiasts online, other than those I can hold a "non-coastering" conversation with (Legendary, AirtimeSRoS, Jeff Tobe...). I'm not really worried about raising my coaster count that much, or missing out on a ride that happens to be closed. I no longer *have* to be at a park at opening and stay til closing. I no longer feel the pressure to do those crazy "35 parks in 9 days" type of trips like I used to, and I don't even really get all that excited over new rides much unless it's something non gimmicky, and manufactured by CCI or Intamin.
Some may not even consider me a coaster enthusiast, and that's fine. I consider myself a Legend fanatic and park enthusiast more than anything else anyway. Some may call me jaded, and that's fine too, I suppose I am. But I'll remain content visiting SFGAd, Kennywood, Knoebels, and Holiday World, riding Legend, the SRoS', and Rampage - and I'll leave it at that.
I'm just content with my little track record, and I'll pace myself. But my relatively smaller track record doesn't make my opinions any less valid. When you make a statement such as "Raptor is the best B&M ever!", and it's the only one you've ridden, than yes, it does make your opinion less valid. I'm sorry if my posts give off an elitist attitude, it's NOT done purposely. I never try to "start" anything, no matter what anyone says. It's just that some people need to lighten up a little bit and realize that perhaps what they consider to the "best" is not held in the same high accord by everyone else...
Respectfully, Rob Vaccaro
I do agree that The Legend is just incredible...it took 12 hours of driving in one day (round trip) and it was so worth it. That thing is just awesome.
As for this..."I no longer feel the pressure to do those crazy '35 parks in 9 days'"...that just sickens me! j/k :) That's cool, and I can only hope that my friends and I go on a coaster venture like that.

That was a gross exaggeration! I've *never* done a trip THAT intensive, LOL! I've done fourteen parks in ten days, but that's about as crazy as it gets (for me anyway). I do know of some fanatical ACErs who have taken trips like I mentioned above....(!)
