You looked foward to, but was let down when.......

Hmmm...most coasters I expect to hate I do. The only two coasters I absolutely hate, actually, are Batman the Escape and Shockwave at PKD. I guess the one that let me down the most would be Loch Ness Monster. An okay ride, but by far the least exciting at BGW.
The only hyped, but disappointing, coasters I've been on were Kumba, Montu and Steel Force. Kumba & Montu were not bad rides at all, but Steel Force (surprisingly) didn't offer much of anything except an extremely SLOW lifthill.

Hmm... funny. I found that Batwing was underhyped! I always heard "Vekoma-clone-capacity-lack of flying sensation-blah-blah". I thought it was an excellent ride and it did exceed my expectations.

You, see that is the thing with this... it is all up to individual opinion.

For instance, like I said, I thought BatWing was a dissapointment, while (in disagreement with Ben Nelson) I loved Montu and Steel Force... though I will admit that Kumba left me kind of cold. As a matter of fact, I put Steel Force right up there in the "Best" category along with Talon and Kraken.

Again, it is just all opinion.

Well, The S:ros@SFDL I was looking forward to.. and it wasn't a let down at all, until I heard SFNE would be getting a bigger, better, more intenese and crazy version...

... don't get me wrong, SFDL's S:ROS delivers, but it was a dissapointment to hear SFNE getting a "better" one the next year... and now I am dissapointed I live so far away from SFNE :P

My friend raved about Wild One for YEARS and I was totally let down because by the time I got out there to ride it (2000), SF had totally butchered the ride, including removing the diving turnaround/double-down.

I was let down by my overexpectations of The Beast.  Just didn't do it for me.  Long, and straight......... ugh.  The helixes were tight, but it was much too little, much too late for me.  Sorry KI:(

Titan, I was hoping for a taller, faster SROS at SFNE, Me and my friend were pissed when we rode. It lacked airtime and it lacked a good layout. Goliath must be 10 times worse since its shorter.

... I rode X-Flight. Possibly my own fault, though. After seeing tons of Stealth stuff and knowing I wasn't hitting the west coast anytime soon, then finding out SFWOA was getting a flying coaster I was very happy.

June 2001 rolled around and I finally got to sample the Flying Dutchman after 2 years of thinking "that has to be the coolest thing ever"

I ended up riding it only once, I was that unimpressed.

I wanted Talon to be soo great.  It was good don't get me wrong, but Steel Force blew me away.

MONTU hands down!  This is the worst inverted I've been on.  I'd put a Vekoma SLC before it!  There's just no forces to this ride, it's just one oversized element after another and then the brake run!
Millennium Force, I was so pumped to ride it that morning that I was getting stomach aches while I waited at the gate.  My friend and I ran full speed towards MF when the gates opened.  I got on in the last row.  I got off and it was a rush but it wasnt half as good as I thought it was gonna be.  I guess it must be certain seats or something but I was very disappointed with the back.  Hope I get a front seat ride next year and my views on the ride may change.

Top 5
1.) Beast 2.) Phantom's Revenge 2.) SROS (SFNE) 4.) SROS (SFDL) 5.) MF

No coasters have really dissapointed me, so I'll just say having plans ruined. This week is a very good example. I went to SFGAm monday, and looked forward to going Saturday the 13th all week. Turns out I can't go.

I rode Talon. It was a good ride don't get me wrong, but not as good as I thought it would be. I thought it would be at the top of my faves for inverts. It is one of my son's favorites.

Me too. It was ok but it wasnt worth the 2 1/2 hour wait that i tolerated

I'm very suprised some people said Millennium Force!  I love that ride.  Of course everyone has their opinions.

Ummm, why didn't anyone put this?  It's one little letter:

Never gonna open because it was an idea that is impossible done by Arrow.  Fax or E-Mail B&M...they told me that the reason they haven't approached it is because there would be way too much strees on the center structure and track.  It was just a stupid idea that will never happen.

If you see me running, try and keep up!

ANYTIME you LET yourself get hyped over a ride, you are prematurely putting that ride to the TOP of your list. You can only be dissapointed.

I went to KBF and rode GhostRider. I dont really like wooden coaster and expected very little from the ride. I WAS WRONG and LOVED it! My expectations were low to moderate and it far exceeded.

At CP I rode Magnum after many family members boasting and all the TOP COASTER shows ranking it #1, also AFTER riding MF, and found it EXTREMELY dissappointing.

It's the nature of the beast to get excited about a new concept that looks and sounds cool, but usually CAN'T live up to your OWN HYPE.

In reallity, I went to SFWoA (across the country) expecting to ride X-Flight, but it was delayed by two weeks. That was a REAL disappointment!
