X...I still can't believe it wasn't a dream
1) No Chris Sawyer involvement
2) Few screenshots and the ones we had were only scenery
3) Short "development" time. If this had been an expansion full of new rides, it would have taken more time to program, not to mention draw the new artwork. Chris always said that animating the different angles of rides was time consuming.
I laugh at these people that with each release, time after time, think that there will be dozens of "surprise" rides and features that include everything they have ever wanted. Companies announce and brag about the features of their new software, not hide them! It's called marketing! Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see most of the stuff people have been asking for a long time too. But you have to set your expectations realistically, especially if the signs are already there.
The rides are all modeled in 3D first, then rendered as frames of animation, right? Well, they needed to go through that process with all of the 'rethemed' rides, so why didn't they just use that time to animate some *new* rides?
Of course, computer game development is about as far down on my list of skills as you can get.

You're stealing. Next time, simply walk into your favorite software store and shoplift it. There's no difference.

Pinball and Coasters...Any Questions?
I think back to the scenario in the first game where the park had a coaster that had half fallen down, weeds and dirt everywhere, all the rides colored brown, black and gray. I loved that scenario and took great care "restoring" the park, and it looked great when it was done, with carefully placed rides and grass to replace all of the dirt.
Good scenario design is what I dig, not having 70 coaster types (since I pretty much use the same ones most of the time anyway). If you want coaster simulation, I agree with what was said, get NoLimits (if you're smart enough). If you want theme park management, play RCT.

The advertsie "all new rides" and "50 new ride types" on their website, implying that there will be some totally new rides. False advertising, misleading the consumer or whatever, if a person is not happy with the package, they should be able to return it based on this. Unfortunately, most stores do not allow you to return software based on dissastisfaction.
At least in the days of the internet, people can be forewarned quickly and save themselves some money.
It all comes down to this, produce what the customer wants, or lose sales.
1. It's been understood the the "new" rides were just rethemes around here since March 1st. Chech out this thread. Read through it a bit. For a real killer, find my post (about 15 down) - I nailed it with astounding accuracy. Heck even before I posted that, people were mentioning that the screenshots looked like rethemes. It was kind of obvious and accepted long ago that all this was going to be was a theme add-on.
2. It's not false advertising. It's smart marketing. There's nothing false about those statements - you interpreted them wrong and now feel cheated due to your own expectations. Did we have a Fabrege Egg ride before? A firecracker themed enterprise? No, these are new rides to the game.

It says ALL new rides. Rethemes of present rides are not ALL new. ALL would be interpreted by the average person as "everything will be new about it". It should have been advertised as 50 new themes on exisiting rides.......
I can understand why so many people are disappointed at it. I have not purchases it because of how poor the screenshots appeared and do not intend to pay $30 for a panda rollercoaster and butterfly cars. But i understand why people would want to take this product back to the store, and they should be able to if they are not satisfied with the product, no matter what type of product it is.
However, if you want easy, internationaly type theming, it is does fulfill that. So those who are wanting the theme parks in that respect will be happy. The ones who were wanting new rides are not.

People who do that also download cracks for shareware, frequent the "warez" sites, and take money out of developers pockets.
Sorry about the rant...I just take piracy of software very seriously.

Pinball and Coasters...Any Questions?
As much as everyone thinks they'll change the world by complaining, not buying the game and urging others to do so, you won't. The complainers seem like a majority, but the message boards on the net don't represent the buying public even remotely. They represent at best the most hardcore of fans and with a game like RCT, enthusiasts (who tend to complain about everything).
The disappointment comes from misinterpreting the marketing lines used to promote the game. Deceptive? Perhaps. False? Not even close. Marketing by nature is somewhat deceptive. The idea is to make a product seem as attractive as possible. It happens all the time in all industries. This is no different.
A couple hundred disappointed buyers will not even dent the profits of a game that has sold (and will continue to sell) millions of copies with each release.
I urge everyone who didn't expect everything *they* wanted to be included and who went in with realistic expectations - basically those who are ok with the add-on to go buy multiple copies and use them as gifts, back-ups, etc. Support a great game and you'll get even more in the future. :)

Dorney Park Visits in 2003: 2
I admit, in the first game I started building my own parks using cheat programs, but after a while that got boring (no real challenge). I like the game as a game again, and if I really want to build my ultimate park, just to change things up a bit, I just create a scenario where I can do it. Funny, I never miss the real life coasters that don't exist in the game (like an Intamin Rocket Coaster), because it's JUST A GAME. IT'S NOT REAL LIFE! Sure it would be nice to build your ultimate park, but that will NEVER happen with the game in it's current form, because you can't build angled paths, or do certain types of track configurations.
I'm not trying to put anyone down for griping, just try to keep the whole thing in the right perspective. If you feel ripped off, write the company. They MAY send you something to compensate you (probably not, but they might, and it won't hurt you to try).
