Work being done on Timberwolf

More like the other way around. Arrow went into bankruptcy and couldn't finish the project.

Prowler. Opens May,2 2009.

^WRONG! The ride was relocated for the World's Fair in Canada to SFStL. This was a LONG TIME before Arrow filed for bankruptcy.
I meant the first time, in 1984 when it was Arrow Huss.

Prowler. Opens May,2 2009.

^WOF Guy definitely has it right. Arrow went into bankruptcy before the ride could be finished for the World's Fair, so Vekoma finished it.

Predator still has those PTC trailers. I wonder if that's what's causing the roughness. I've never been on a worse coaster in my life.

^ I don't know how much those trailered trains are causing the roughness on Predator, but they certainly do a good job of AMPLIFYING it. LOL, the ride is progressively worse the further back in the train you go....
Oh, he meant when they filed for protection and not complete bankruptcy. There is a big difference.

Interesting....I always thought it was a pure Vekoma (if there is such a thing).

Either way it's one of the most useless coasters out there. The GP hates it.

rollergator said:Timberwolf was in my lower-third of wooden coasters, I found Mamba overbraked, "Morgan-ish" (bad trains, little floats), and pretty meh. Orient Express is thankfully gone. Coaster-wise, for me, it was NOT the best of parks. (That looks MUCH better now, BTW).

Don't forget that Zambizi Zinger was a great coaster before it was removed.

I had a season pass to WoF all throughout grade school. I would spend days just riding Orient Express almost all day. The first drop on OE was the best thing WoF had to offer for a very long time. And yeah, TimberWolf was always good for some good airtime, although after 95 they added more saftey to actually keep you in your seat.

I always got to go to random VIP Worlds of fun things because I was friends with Dan Keller's kid. I think I remember going in really early and riding some of the rides before guests were allowed in the park or something, but the memories are vague.

Anyways, sorry for the random trip down memory lane, but I haven't been back to the park in probably 10 years, and I miss it.

Looking forward to a possible return trip this year as I'll be focusing heavily on Cedar Fair parks on my annual Halloween trips where I hit a different park each weekend from late September - October.

Oh you are in for a treat if you are coming during WOF's Halloweekends. The haunted mazes and scare zones at this festival are insane. The Asylum Island is the newest of the bunch and from what I have heard from the park they are pulling out all the stops. It is actually going to be over in OOF and you will have to cross the Monsoon bridge to get to it.

And if you are going to be in Kansas City around Halloween, you should probably check out all the Haunted Houses near Kemper Arena. If I remember right, almost all of them end with huge slides where you sit on wax paper. Kansas City is a cool town. I miss that place.

Down is the new up.
^The downtown haunts are not as good as they used to be. I still really enjoy the BEAST and the EDGE of HELL, but the ones at WOF are almost better anymore.

Hmmm, thought I'd posted, musta gotten lost in the mail. Anyhow, I would have LOVED to have ridden Zinger, and its cousin Big Bend....esp. given how I feel about Whizzer. I'd give you two B&M coasters for an Anton most any day, for the use of the terrain, the *feeling* of speed, PERFECT mix of forces, etc. Musta watched the Youtube Whizzer ride 3-4x yesterday... :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

You are right. Wizzer is really fun. I don't know which one was better, because it was like 8 years after I moved away from KC when I rode Wizzer, and I'm sure I remember Zinger being a whole lot bigger than it actually was.

Did WoF have the mazes at Halloween 10 years ago? I remember the decorations, and stuff, but I don't remember them having any of the mazes. Sucks about the downtown haunted houses. I always thought they were really cool when I lived there. There was always that creepy guy outside that would put the rats in his mouth...

Finally, someone agrees with me!

IMO, Zinger was certainly better than Whizzer, but both are/were quite fun rides.

Word - back then (before CF:LP came into the picture) WOF had Boo Blast! and it was basically a scare-free halloween event.

Zinger was byfar superior to the Whizzer. The tunnel at the end was "t3h coolest". Night rides on this beast were amazing.

Everything after the "midcourse" turn around the spiral lift was awesome on Zinger, especially the huge spiral drop into the ravine. The tunnel was always my favorite finale to a coaster. You really pulled some G's on those turns. Whizzer starts off great with the long Beast-like hills into the two ground-hugging turns, but after that it really loses steam.

It seemed to me that ZZ's spiral lift hill was a lot longer than Whizzer's too. Man I cannot stand the fact that ZZ is gone. :(
Acoustic Viscosity's avatar
I'm pretty sure it was, and add to that the much longer approach from the station to the spiral section, as compared to Whizzer. Zinger made much better use of the terrain. I loved the visuals as you spiraled down into the ravine on the first loop of the giant double helix. I so wish WoF would rebuild it. I'd trade any/all of WoF's steel coasters for Zinger.
