Anyone have a website with the announcement?
Kyle, are you saying that it's only a rumor until it's announced by the park?
It's semi-confirmed by screamscape that SFGAdv is getting wood for '06, and we all know not to believe everything posted as a rumor on that site, but in this case I think it's the real thing. Proof is being posted on said site that it's just not some wild rumor made up by a fanboy. Look for yourself, if you haven't already, sir.
...I see SFGAdv turning into another SFMM too. I haven't been to GAdv in years, partly due to a bad experience my last visit, and TR's of it not improving. It's only 4 hours away.
I just don't know what SF is thinking. "Hey, we can't get all our existing rides open and running consistently, so let's build some more!" It seems so backwards.
But people are saying that they have noticed improvment (except for Superman, Batman side of Chiller, ect.), so I'm going to try again sometime this summer.
I don't think that they need a new coaster in '06, but boy would I love to ride a Plug 'n Play.
Proof enough for me. But, then, so was an announcement by Hersheypark that they'd be getting a new coaster this year, and we all know how that turned out...

[The ride is much more reliable now and runs for hours at a time without breakdowns.LOL...wow, several hours without a breakdown. That's now reliable! When it most every day without operational breakdowns and only requires regular nighttime work, then it will be reliable. (For reference, see just about every B&M ever built) *** Edited 6/3/2005 11:01:42 PM UTC by Peabody***
If GADV didnt already have 4 B&M coasters im sure they would have went with them. When B&M comes up with a new concept im sure they will be all over it. Until then we will be blessed with Intamin death traps. :)

Peabody, for an Intamin rocket, that is pretty damn reliable.
That's my point. It's sad that with as much downtime as it's had in 2 weeks that it's "reliable"
In my first 10 or 15 years of riding I never once saw a coaster have significant downtime, and never once saw a coaster down an entire day. Now I feel lucky when I go to a park and get to ride their Intamin because I have "beaten the odds" :)
Fate is the path of least resistance.

I think it is cool that they are getting a new woodie, but I do think that they really need to get their act up and have all their rides operating as it is. I mean they are still running one train on many of their coasters, that is when they are open. CP may not have the record breaker anymore, but I love going there the most because they always have all the trains running on every coaster, and with very minimal downtime on anything but TTD (which has been operating very well lately). I was there for three days and got 24 rides on MF and 10 on TTD because of the fast dispatches and smooth operation.
Really? When did you visit this year. I have been to the park several times already this year and found nearlly all coasters running at full capacity. Yes, the Batman side of Chiller is still down, they have not gotten the train back from Premier yet, Premier has been kinda busy with higher priority projects. and yes, S:UF has one train down, due to a major problem, but that train was running earlier in the season. But as for the rest of the coasters, they have been running two plus trains even on days when they aren't needed. Rolling Thunder is even running both sides, and racing, with the left side running better then it has in years thanks to a retracking.

The one and only Six Flags park they've ever remotely been in competition with is Six Flags Ohio...oh wait....they bought it!
And they can't seem to get anyone to go to that park either. That is interesting.

And by the way, cars were lined up this last weekend.
That's nice, cars have been lining up every day of the week at SFGAdv, and that is with ALL of the toll booths open.

You're telling this to the company that thought Kingda Krap was a good idea?
Seems that it was, considering they have been packing them in ever since it opened, even during the week, with school still in.

You don't understand. I'm HAPPY that SFGAd is packing them in. I happen to like the park, and KK (shocked?) I like CP too. I'm happy that they are packing people in as well.
It's the idiot fanboys that think that the crowds all left Ohio and traveled to Jersey that I was responding to (see previous page).
About the Geauga thing. SF was trying to turn it into a mega park. I'm glad that Geauga is back to the small park with modest attendence that it used to be before SF tried to turn it into something it isn't.
Is every Great Adventure thread going to turn into a "Six Flags is crap" tirade?
Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!
But, I don't quite see the "SF is crap" business that you do in this thread. Some funny jabs (the closed toll booth crack, etc), but nothing serious. (Well...their current financial standing as mentioned above IS a serious matter for them!) *** Edited 6/4/2005 5:41:32 AM UTC by Peabody***
Seriously, I don't see why this has to become some big CP vs. SF thing. I am a major CP fan, and there's no doubt in my mind that it's my favorite amusement park. However, I don't have a problem with KK being built, or the woodie GAdv is getting next year. Coaster records get broken all the time, and the real winners are the people who love to see bigger and better thrills.
The only negative I have about GAdv is the park atmosphere, at least the two times I've been there. Both times it was horrible, and I'll be lucky to convince my wife to go back there again. I know some people claim there is no atmosphere problem, but it's been bad both times I've been there, and many other people have gone and noticed it as well. So it's certainly not a figment of my imagination. It's really too bad, as I feel like GAdv's coaster collection is in many ways more impressive than CP's, at least when it comes to variety. There are still reliability issues when it comes to the rides, and of course better ride operations training is needed. But those are areas that can be worked out, and hopefully GAdv will, if they haven't started to already.
CP is an awesome park, arguably the best in the country. But GAdv is certainly the best SF park, and really has the potential to be even more. Hopefully they can deal with some of their negatives, and be a more highly thought of park, because there is certainly a lot to like about them.
David
I agree with you. CP is in my eyes the best amusement park in the country for me , but SFGADV is turning into a great SF park, as long as a few things happen. I can't wait to see some of the other SF parks next year, they look like they are going to be great.
Knoebels- 4/28
That's definitely it,I've had it with SF & their stingy cap ex habits....if they want to go on spoiling ONE park & ONE park only then keep me out of it.
SFGRADV has already recieved not one but two coasters since 03 & now they're getting yet another one....this is so unfair to those of us who've been waiting patiently for their SF park to get one new coaster & I'm just not so sure I want to continue even giving SF anymore of my money when they don't seem to care about supplying new rides to their parks.
Lookos like next year I'll be making the trip to PKD so you probably won't see me buying an SFA pass for 2006,I'm quite sure that CrazyB would definitely agree with me on that one.
