Who thinks CP will get a 4D?

If you come to Chicago and talk about CP, the majority of the people will look at you like you're insane because SFGA is the only park in the world to them.

I couldn't disagree more.  People in my area (40mins north of Chicago, near SFGAm) know what Cedar Point is, and in fact, most have *been there*.  Since discovering CP in 1996, you wouldn't believe how many people I know who have gone there and loved it and say it puts SFGAm to shame.  Hell, you wouldn't believe how many people from *SFGAm* go there, love it, and can't wait to go back.
It's not just coaster nuts who know about it.  Many of my friends from high school had been there before me.  I was pretty jealous. :)
Not to mention my mom's friends at work who know of the place and take annual vacations there.
CP was even ADVERTISING on a billboard off the interstate this year in the outskirts of Chicago!  That was shocking to me, we're like 300mi away.
I think CP has somewhat of a nationwide recognition going on.  They're damn good at marketing.

Yeah, Legendary is right. Most of the times when I would be talking to my Chi area friends and they found out that me and my parents went across the country riding coasters, one of them would always ask about "Some park in Ohio, C-something that has like a bazillion rollercoasters...:)).

Heck some even know about Kings Island (and I've had that park called to me by name with no prodding).

but you're talking to your friends.  traditionally, you pick friends with the same tastes as you so they would be more likely to know about similar things as you.  plus, you're looking at an extreme example.  I'm not saying that the GP across the nation have neve heard of CP, I'm saying that most haven't or if they have they don't care 'cause they aren't going to waste their money to go out to Ohio when they have a park in their back yard.  most people at the park won't know about CP.  I have encountered one person talking about CP while at SFGA and one guy was babbling on about the differences between the GAm parks.  I assume that the second guy was an enthusiast trying to impress his friends, and the first guy was definatly an enthusiast 'cause he came to Chi specifically for GA.  aside from that the roller coaster talk that I hear from patrons would be considered baby talk among enthusiasts.  I have three friends who know about CP and that because they're pretty much enthusiasts themselves.
even if people have heard of CP, the point still stands that they don't give a rat's arse about what CP is getting.  the people who use CP as their home park and enthusiasts will care about what CP gets.  to everyone else its just another park that would be nice to visit if you're in the area.

My question is, is "When will the Ohio-based Amusement park executives take a trip out to the Mountain.... and come back smiling?"
Didn't anyone notice that Jeff said they wouldn't get a 4D in two identical posts? Hint Hint.

It's kind of all academic at this point...
