Which coaster lived up to its hype?

Some coasters that definetly lived up to their hype was Ghostrider, Deja Vu, X-Flight, and S: UE. All had tons of hype and all delivered.

MF, Legend(should have had more hype in my opinion!), Magnum, The Beast.

Phantom's Revenge, Ghostrider, and Shivering Timbers make my list for 2001.

Coasters the made my hype list are Millenium Force, Superman Ride of Steel, Nitro, Apollo's Chariot, Son of Beast, Volcano (the Blast Coaster), and Shivering Timbers.
Millennium Force IMO lived up to the hype and then some.  And seeing as how SoB was said to be extremely rough, I was quite pleasantly surprised when I rode it, and got a great ride!  So it surpasses the "hype" of being a rough and boring woodie.:)

Ghostrider kicked the hype's @*$! I couldn't comprehend how well that coaster would ride and the insane amount of airtime produces by that thing! All the way, the Ghost with the Most!

I don't remembet Cornball Express of Indiana Beach having much hype, but it lived up to and far surpassed any hype it got. It suprised everyone that I've talked to so far.

The one coaster that really lived up to all the hype that I had heard about it was *strangely enough* one of the green B&Ms (neither launched nor inverted, just standard sitdown). KUMBA!!! That coaster really is all that and a bag of chips. The zero-G-roll on KUMBA was so fierce that I actually yelped out of fear! It's not my favorite ride, but it is a really good one and worthy of praise.

Millennium Force. X-Flight was also pretty good.

Millennium Force....it has its ups and downs.
AC, Hulk, PR, Hyper, MF, Raptor, SOB, RB, and Kumba all lived up all the hype i had heard about them
But Montu, Kraken, DD, Volcano, FOF w/lap bars, and the Beast all lived up to there and hype and whole lot more.

I loved MF after my first ride, but as I got more and more rides I realized that the ride had no exciting elements besides the first drop. So it didnt really live up to the hype.

Anyways...

Phantoms Revenge, MegaZeph (there was no hype), and FOF all lived up to the hype.

The talk about "slow" curves on MF, IMO, are justified.  We're not saying there isn't speed, obviously the ride has PLENTY of speed, but the G-Forces on the turns are relatively low - the turns are S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D out.  Compare to Goliath, where the helix is so tight the G-force actually makes your peripheral vision go grey...the turns are taken at a lower speed, but with MUCH greater intensity.  Also, I'll add S:UE to my original list, it was UNDER-hyped, but that's understandable given the other great rides installed at the same time.  And to those who say Mean Streak and Beast didn't live up to the hype, all I can tell you is that once they EXCEEDED the hype...and by a considerable margin!

THAT'S IT!!! That's *exactly* how I feel! When i rode Millie last year, i thought it was the best coaster in the park. But this year, I duuno, it didnt do as much for me (save the front seat ride which as awesome beyond words). It's still fun to ride...but sometimes I'd actually rather be on Raptor :)

After more than 60 laps on Millennium Force, I still get the grayed vision on every trip as it pulls through the first turn. I think the only reason I've made a conscious note of that is because since the season started I've wanted to take a good look at the modified support that ineffectively is supposed to make it less in your reach. The problem is, it's hard to get sharp focus.

Overall, I love the ride, and it totally met my expectations. Of course, my expectation would be that it would carry the fastest average speed of any coaster I've ever been on, and in that respect it has delivered. No other coaster maintains that much speed throughout the ride.

The question for me is if that's what can make it my favorite coaster. I have coasters of different types, but it's hard for me to pick a favorite among those. Millennium Force, Apollo's Chariot, Legend and Talon are my favorites in the genres they represent, but I could never pick one over the other.

For that reason, Millennium Force lived up to the hype for me.

Ditto for pretty much every other hyped coaster, including Talon, Bull, Apollo, Big Bad Wolf, Nitro, Medusa (the original), etc. The only questionable one would be Hypersonic. The launch was beyond the hype, the pain and short course after the launch were not good.

CoasterDude316: You have nothing to worry about. I was kind of doubting a bigger boomerang could be that good, and then i rode it, and proved myself wrong. I've said this before, and i'll say it again, but that 2nd spike is one of my favorite moments on a coaster.
