However... I would say Pheonix.
Again though, this is all subjective and only a matter of opinion... what some people call "living up to hype" others will not. for instance, IOA-Rules stated that Hulk and Dueling Dragons lived up to hype. Hulk may have, but Dragons certainly did not... in MY opinion.
There is no right or wrong answer here.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
However, it is not whether it lived up to it's hype that is important or matters, it is whether it lived up to YOUR expectations that matters most. You may have expectations that are high up because of the hype or in spite of the hype.
I rode S:ROS at SFNE with no hype or expectations and I was blown away. I rode Talon not hearing any hype, just opinions from here, and had moderate expectations and again, I was very impressed.
I had high expectations of V2, partially because of hype, and while my experience was not up there with the hype, I enjoyed it.
I have also ridden rides that where hyped badly, but I had good expectations and enjoyed the ride, example is Hercules.
Enough rambling.

Any resemblance to living or
dead people is purely coincidental.

this is not a favorite thread . i think it is a very valid topic.
But anyway, for me it is goliath. i mean the thought of a coaster with no inversion sounded so dull to me. boy was i wrong what goliath lacked in inversions it made up in speed and intensity. so i would say goliath lived up to its hype
Isn't this thread in essence adding to the hype of a coaster if someone that reads it HASN'T ridden it? I'm not quite sure if that falls under irony, but...

LOL! I would like to think that this isn't a 'favorite' thread, because I was going to agree with Cmeisen and say Steel Dragon 2000. It isn't my favorite coaster, nor is it close, but after all the hype about the worlds largest, fastest, etc.... I was more than blown away by the ride, elements, and deceptive speed. It looks sooooo slow, but yet it races along, and gives you quite a buzz!

There is more...!

Yes, by adding to this thread we are adding to the hype. If the coaster STILL exceeds YOUR expectations, then It lived up to its hype(in your own eyes).
Millenium Force lived up the the hype, everything I expected.
Ghostrider, S:UE, and DejaVu Exceeded the hype. Even more than what I expected out of them. Especially GHOSTRIDER!

Ah... which S:RoS? (Remember, we are talking about Six Flags here... those masters of originality when it comes to naming coasters.)

Millenium Force didn't stand up to it's hype after my first ride but after I logged a few on that baby I started liking it more and more.
