Raptor was the first back when i was 13 in 1999. Very scared.

Mine would have to be Phoenix at Knoebels, I was so scared I cried the whole way up the lift hill. Since then, I've nailed 164 different ones and counting. I guess I'm still biased a bit, as the Phoenix is my #1 woodie.

If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.

My 1st coaster was Demon at SFGam. I was 6 years old, and my mom thought I was going to fall out, so she was trying to hold me in the whole ride. Needless to say, it was her last coaster and just the beginning for me...
First coaster: a small kiddie or Junior coaster (I forget which) at Williamsgrove. This was in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I don't believe it is the current steel kiddie coaster that is there. Something sticks in my mind that it was actually wooden with red trains... though I was very young then and I really don't know for sure.

First Non Kiddie Coaster: Glissade (jumbo jet) at Busch Gardens The Old Country (as it was called then).

First permanent coaster (non portable model): Run Away Train at Great Adventure in the mid to late 1970's... not even sure if they were branded Six Flags yet at that time.

First Wooden coaster: Hersheypark's Comet in the mid to late 1970's. Still my sentimental favorite.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

I am another one who can say shockwave got them hooked. And it was my first coaster.

TRoy
Steel and Looping: Great American Scream Machine @ Six Flags Great Adventure back in '98. That thing scared the heck outta me, and was scared of most coasters up until early 7th grade (late '01)

First Wooden: Rolling Thunder back in '98 at Great Adventure (same trip as Scream Machine) This ride wasn't that bad.

Thunderbolt at Kennywood was my first wooden coaster when I was about 4 or 5 (87 or 88...cant remember). Although I loved coasters from the beginning, I didn't get to ride my first steel until I visited PKD in 97 and got to ride Outer Limits: Flight of Fear.

And Trogdor smote the Kerrek, and all was laid to Burnination.

I rode Big Thunder Mountain my first coaster when I was 3. I rode Montezuma's Revenge my first looping coaster when I was 6, however I was only 47 " and I was so upset I couldn't ride it that we stuffed my shoes with an inch of napkins which was the same way I rode Boomerang. I got hooked on coasters when I was 4 after riding Space Mountain. Stiil we kept going to Disney so I didn't ride my first wooden untill I was 10 on Megazeph.

First coaster I remember - Blue Streak at CP. No seatbelts, just the bar. I was out of my seat most of the time, hanging onto the bar with white knuckles.

My first coaster was SkyLiner at Roseland in upstate NY. I just found out they moved it to a park in Pennsylvaina and its now my goal to reride it. First looper was Viper at Darien Lake, I was terrified of it for years and then I got dragged on it kicking and screaming. And I loved it.

Yes. It is now at Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA. While there you can take a ride on the oldest coaster too, Leap The Dips.

My first coaster was the Jackrabbit at Cleminton Park. That was back in '82. I haven't been over there in at least ten years, got to get over there this summer.

My first looper was the Laser at Dorney park. It scared the heck out of me then ;)

Cedar Point's Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Scared me away from coasters for a while since I rode with my Dad. You see, his waist was just *slightly* ;) larger than mine (46" waist vs. maybe 15"?), and the cars had single lap bars, no seatbelts at the time. Spent my first ride scared stiff, sliding back and forth on the bench, hoping like crazy I wouldn't bounce out. Swore off roller coasters for the next 3 years until I finally had a chance to ride single.
My first was the Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland. It made me cry. I hated that 'huge' drop.

The original Corkscrew at KBF - the first modern coaster to go upsidedown.

When was the last time you drove 251 km/h (156 mph)?

Wabash Cannonball at the former Opryland USA. That made it my first coaster, first steel coaster, and first upside down experience.

My first woodie was at Idora Park in the late 70s (I'll probably never remember exactly when I rode it or what it was called, though). It was the kiddie coaster back by the tilt-a-whirl, and the "parachute" ride. My cousins and I ran circles around the coaster getting on, off, and right back on. My family always knew where to find us!

I kick myself over missing the Wildcat too, it burned down shortly before I got brave enough to ride it. It figures.

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!
