What style Hypercoaster do you prefer...

I love Raging Bull, but it is very tame compared to other Hypers, I don't see what the fascination is with it having so much airtime, beacuse it really doesn't. Not once have I gone out of my seat that was extremely noticeable, and I've been on it nearly 20 times. It's just my opinion, but I hate how the cars drag on top of all the big hills in the ride, I prefer Millennium Force or Magnum's speed style, as they never stop going fast even with a lot of big drops.

I've only been on 1 Morgan hyper, 1 Arrow hyper, and 1 Intamin giga but out of the 3 I like Intamin because the seats are extremely comfy and the ride is as smooth as glass.

I don't know if one is better then in the other. Morgan give you the most extreme air time though with Phantom's Revenge. Arrow, Magnum XL-200, enough said. Intamin, has those really steep drops that are just awsome. And B&Ms are just smooth as butter. I like them all to tell you the truth.

Raging Bull, Don't Fight It, Ride It

I'd stick with Arrow on this one,but Morgan does come in a close second for me.At least untill I ride SD2K.

I've been on almost all the manufacturer's hypers and here are my favorites

Millenium Force

Superman:ROS (SFNE)

Magnum XL200

Superman:ROS (SFDL)

Apollo's Chariots

Titan

Phantom's Revenge

Raging Bull

Mr. Freeze (SF:SL)

Son of Beast

I would have to say that Intamin's Hypers/Gigas are the best. What makes them so good is the steep drops and the open feeling in the cars.

If it is over 200 feet tall or has a drop of 200 feet or more then it's a hyper in my book. If it had to be over 200 feet tall, then Phantom's Revenge and Bandit wouldn't be hypers and if it had to have a 200 foot drop then Magnum and Titan wouldn't be hypers. That's why I would just give it to both.

Rank of my hyper and giga coasters:

9.Moonsault Scrambler(Fujikiya)

8.Magnum XL-200

7.Titan(Japan)

6.Manhattan Express

5.Goliath

4.Millenium Force

3.Fujiyama

1.Superman:Ride of Steel + Steel Dragon 2000

just for my own persoonal distinction, I call the airtime-filled O-n-B styles "speed coasters"...OK, it's not MY term, but it helps me distinguish between the broader class of "hypers" and the others....

but please feel free to class them any way that makes sense to you....;)

Ohhhh Ohhhhh my pet nag popped up. To whoever said WT is a hyper im sorry but if WT is a hyper then Magnum isent the first hyper lol. Im waiting for CP to officialy dsay WT is a hyper coaster before i have my fun lol

Poor old me has never ridden a Hyper coaster so i can't judge this atall lol. although i say a hyper coaster is any coaster with a drop or structural height of 60m+ (Intamin and B&M state mega coasters have to be 60m+ (we dun use ft anymore remember lol))

Doesn't make a difference really becuase if Phantom's Revenge is a hyper then Magnun XL 200 wasn't the first hyper and Bandit would be.

roomraider, as senseless as it may sound, the rest of the world would probably convert to ft/in before us lazy Americans would switch to a more sensible approach to weights/measures.....

I remember in the early 70's they tried to convert us in schools, and the "older people" just were NOT going to let it happen......with our math skills here, it was just too difficult to multiply and divide by 10....;)

Man tough ne as I try not to rank coasters but I have to say Magnum and Arrow get it just because of how fun Maggie is and the view is breathtaking. Then We have Millie with its huge floater air and breakneck speeds. A distant third woudl be the likes of Raging Bull. Cal me crazy, but I found the bull to be pretty tame.

WT is not a Hyper because the entie train never reaches a point over 200 feet, or drops 200 feet. I guess that it my classification. I call Sonny a hyper but I wouldnt call X or Jubilee Odysy a Hyper weird huh?

I've been on hypers by everyone except Giovanola, heres the rankings:

1) Milennium Force(Intamin)

2) S:ROS @ SFNE(Intamin)

3) Magnum XL-200(Arrow)

4) Raging Bull(B&M)

5) Wild Thing(Morgan)

Of course, these are all great coasters but Intamins are just incredible

What about Togo hypers? Also, isn't Millenium Force a giga?

The term giga or Terra or whatever is all irelevent, it is still a hyper just a really big one. And some people already mentioned Fujiyama.

I was talking to CPrulezohio. Yes I mentioned Fujiyama, but Togo has made more hyper coasters than Fujiyama. The term isn't irelavent. Hyper coasters isn't just a term used my enthusiasts, it's the label of the coaster by manufactuers.

For my money, this is how my list goes - from what I've ridden so far (starting with my most favorite):

1. Superman:ROS (SFNE), baby - haven't ridden the ones at SFDL /SFA yet, but I'm always blown away by the one at SFNE.

2. Apollo's Chariot

3. Goliath

4. Raging Bull

5. Millenium Force (a giga)

6. Magnum XL-200

Have yet to ride Titan, although I imagine it's very much like Goliath, and still haven't ridden Nitro...... so many coasters, so little time!!!!

Between my experiences with 3 of the companies I would have to say Morgan. I have ridden PR, Magnum, and Millennium Force.

I like Arrow the least, Intamin 2nd. and Morgan is #1. I just didn't think M-Force was that great after the drop, it had too much flat track, and the hills didn't give me the ejector air that PR did. Although I am willing to consider Intamin after SFWoA's new hyper...since I hear every other Intamin hyper has ejector air except M-Force...why not I wonder.

I hear ya. Raging Bull really is a great ride, and is one of my favorite coasters, but for a HYPER COASTER, it is tame. The first drop is awesome, but after that, ths speed down the hills is great, but on the way up there, the pacing is a little too slow, and that lasts throuought the entire ride. Either way, it is a great Coaster, and I'm glad to have it an hour away from me. I prefer Magnum and Millie though.
