What style Hypercoaster do you prefer...

Until you've ridden a S:RoS, please don't judge the Intamins on MF alone.....once you've ridden one, look this thread back up and tell us if your opinions didn't change....;).

The rest were fun, and after Nitro and S:UF, I can even say there are intense Beemers available.....but the Ride of Steel....just makes me smile to remember it....:)

Having ridden an Arrow (Maggie), a B&M (Bull), a Giovanola (Goliath) and an Intamin (M.Force), I would have to say my favorite is the B&M.

Why? Simply put, the B&M "football-shaped" seat restraints are THE most comfortable I've ever encountered. I'd love to see 'em on a looper.

That said, I still love the character of Maggie, the speed of MF, and the sheer force of big G's helix.

I have been fortunate to ride a dozen or so Hypers (plus 2 gigas), including a Togo!

Height and speed mean nothing. Neither SD2K nor MF is my favorite. My favorites have a consistant feeling of speed, good flow, good air, and are fun to re-ride.

I've yet to ride the perfect hyper (and kind of hope I never do!) MF, SD2K, Fujiyama, Phantom, Mamba, etc. all lack something that one of the others has, and have something that the others don't.

Several have come close (S:ROS), and some have perfected certain aspects of a good hyper, but coasters are like works of art, music, literature, etc. in that something could always be improved.

Actually, I have no complaints about the "1812 Overture" by Tch (I aint even gonna try and spell his name ;))

Anyway, I have to say that of the hypers I've ridden, the B&M seem to have the best *style* (ducks Florida Oranges). Yes, they are a bit of cream puff rides, but they have style, grace, originality and suprisingly, no dead spots. Even thoughthe 3 US ones all have MCBRs, they hardly seem to interrupt the flow of the rides. And most importantly, they are for the whole lot of guests. If I had a park, I'd call them for my hyper. Ever see someone earl on NITRO, Raging Bull or AC? (though I'm sure someone has)

What the poo is earl??...is that some new coaster lingo?. Anyway, I do like the intensity of intamins. B&M's I love for sentimental purposes.

Anything Intamin (Giga)

Basically MF, because it's the only intimin giga. I think. right.

Roller Coasters or sports? I guess there are questions nobody can answer!

I have only been on B&M and Giovanola (AC & Titan) and I much prefer the B&M. The floating air time and the open nature of the trains makes AC my favorite rollercoaster by a longshot, nothing else compares for me. I hope to add Morgan to my list this summer, but for now it is B&M.

Tchaikovsky....and you'd *BETTER* duck! No jeremy, no oranges, and your assessment of the wide appeal of the Beemers is precisely the reason they're SO popular.

(begin rant) But hey, I'm an "enthusiast" and I like the feeling of power and intensity I can't get out of your average Lazy-Boy...er, B&M. Nitro had some, and the pretzel loop had a lot, but basically, they almost "too comfy". I guess if you lived with them as your sole-source steel coaster provider, you'd see my point better. But that's right, you have VARIETY, and that makes everything a bit *spicier*....;). My opinion, the only one I have, tells me Intamin, then Gio, then B&M provide the kind of ride I prefer.....I know they only build what the parks asks for, but if you put a Beemer train on S:RoS or the Big G, I think the rides would be a lot more comfy and a lot less intense....they might even draw more riders....but I'd ride 'em less often.....(end rant).

I have been fortunate enough to ride:

Magnum, Steel Phantom (although I would not consider it a hyper), Nitro, Raging Bull, Apollo's Chariot, Steel Force, Phantom's Revenge, Millennium Force, Superman at SFDL, Superman at SFA and Superman at SFNE.

The best by far, is easily Superman at New England. It ranks as my favorite steelie. For a year or so, Apollo's Chariot was my favorite steelie, but it got bumped to #2 when I rode NE's S:ROS.

I have been thrilled by Intamin's hypers much more than any other manufacturer, so I give them the edge.

When I rate the hypers I have ridden according to my favorites they spell out like so:

1. Superman @SFNE

2. Apollo's Chariot

3. Nitro

4. Superman @ SFDL

5. Superman @ SFA

6. Millennium Force

7. Steel Force

8. Phantom's Revenge

9. Raging Bull

10. Magnum

Now, I have not had the pleasure of riding a Giovanola yet, but hope to by the end of the summer. That may shake things up.

Really, I think the most over-rated steel hyper coaster in existance is Magnum. I found it enjoyable the first few times I rode, but have never fallen in love with the coaster as others have. It is an "eh" coaster to me.

I don't like overly smooth rides as much as rides the are a bit rough and tumble, I think a good coaster should let you feel some bumps, punch you in the kidneys a little and bang you around a bit. For that reason, and also the very abrupt and intense airtime, my favorite hyper is Magnum. It's a simulation of a wood coaster done in steel, and I think it's one great ride.

Duh! I completely forgot about Steel Force. That would be 6th after MF. I always judge coasters by the last ride I had on them. You wouldn't believe how many times Magnum has gone up and down my list. It was really far down in 2000, but it went way back up in 2001. I think it had a lot to do with the wind, weather, seat, and group I was with. It changes every time I ride. :)

Apollo is a really close #4 to Magnum though. Bull is pretty far from SROS, but maybe since it was one of my first hypers in '99, I'm a lot more impressed by it. It's a twister too which gains more points with me and the view is excellent. I'm really excited to ride Nitro though.

does anybody have anything to say about Morgan hypers? since i havent yet to ride one, are they comparable to Intamin and BM hypers?
I have ridden hypers by 3 of said companies:

Intamin: MF and S:ROS (SFDL)
B&M: Nitro
Arrow: Magnum

With those credentials, I'd say Intamin. Since I liked both Intamin coasters better than Nitro and Magnum. Just the quality of the air is incredible on the Intamin hypers.

That said, I still absolutely love both Nitro and Magnum...they are outstanding coasters.

X is a hyper...

http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail750.htm

So I'll have to go with Arrow for now. (Only other hyper- Big 'G', but soon, oh so soon, oh so very soon, oh so very deliciously soon, I'll have two Intamin hypers under my belt- S:RoS SFNE and Xcelerator!!!)

G's and helices. G's and helices. That's what I love!

The Hyper Twister. Out of every hyper I've been on, B&M and their Raging Bull proved to be my favorite. Combines the twists of a woodie with heavenly floater air and a mean first drop -the best I've ever experianced. Gotta love it.

I hope B&M is contracted to make more of these gems.

X is not a hyper.
i like arrows, they are good. They invented the hypercoaster, and therefore, they should get their applause for that. many people complain about arrow hypers, but, hey- every one has a diffrent taste. Im sure id like a Bolliger and Mabillard hyper coaster if id been on one though.
