What should Magic Mountain do with its woodies?

Kirby, since i know you have never ridden the ride or been to the Mountain you dont understand the trims ruin the ride.  Also the trims were there cuase on women out a million flewe out.  Maybe she didnt have her lap bar down.

The Trims werent put in directly as a result of the woman dying.  The woman dying led to the first reprofiling....And sadly, the trims ARE neccessary.  Colossus will tear itself apart without them.  And finally, for the last time colossus had PTC trains!!!!
We know Colossus ran with PTC trains before. What does that have to do with anything? The coaster needs new trains, period. The Morgan trains suck big time.

I'm not familiar with MM... can someone tell me what the "double dip" was and when it was removed?  It sounds interesting...
The reason I keep telling everyone that Colossus had PTC trains because everyone keeps saying how colossus needs PTC trains....

Mister X....check this out http://www.joyrides.com/sfmm/full/colossus5.htm  That pretty much says it all.  A woman died on the coaster about 15 years ago, and since then, along with concerns that the ride was tearing itself apart, SF decided it best to re-configure the ride, and add a ton of trims.  Since it's inception, Collossus has de-evolved into a slow, boring crawl.  A true shame.  It may not be HUGE anymore, but it could still rock...it just doesn't.  :(

The double down was still there after the reprofiling due to the womans death.  The double dip was taken away to allow three train operation with the new morgan trains....
I can imagine Sfmm doing something to Collosus like What morgan did to the phantom! They could leave the lift hill and put it a bit higher, CCI Could handle everything else! Or better yet, Sfmm could show them the original blue prints of the ride and they could re-build it with the magic CCI puts on their rides..

"Roar" You'll never hear the end of it!
Unfortunately, restoring Colossus to its opening day form can never happen.  It would be an insurance nightmare....
SFMM's wooden coasters are what they are, just live with it, and hope that one day they build a new one of higher quality, and actually hire someone to maintain it who cares about wooden coasters.
Psyclone beat me up a bit but I still thought it was great. I found the problem to definetly be the trains. I think some new PTC's would fix it. As for Colossus it looks amazing but  to my suprise it was boring. I think next year above the need for flat rides, a big refurbishment to Colossus is in order to return it to its original glory. It's really a shame the state it's in now. SFMM do not give up on Colossus!

I have ridden Psyclone four or five times.  That's all the times I could bring myself to ride it.  The last time I rode the ride I strained a muscle (don't ask why.) Psyclone is a rough ride which has NO speed. Of course if it had more speed it would be even worse.  The trains are uncomfortable and it is an overall poor ride.  Colossus on the other hand is not painful, but is practically a family coaster.  I heard that when it opened it was one of or even the most terrifying coaster of its time. What should SFMM do with these two coasters?

Goliath, the Giant among Giants! Ride it today.

Leave em alone!

YA DID!!!

I don't mind Psyclone at all.
Its not exactly smooth, but it isn't THAT bad. Maybe its SFMM's two B&M's that spoil every enthusiast at the park and cause them to complain about the woodies. :)
Colossus really has potential, but at the speed it takes around those turns, it is just not right. Removal of brakes would be nice however unlikely.

I find that Colossus was a great coaster, huge drops one after another, I love the ride. I dont know why everyone dislikes it. On the other hand, Psyclone sucks!
PSYCLONE DOES NOT SUCK, IT HAS MASSIVE AIR.

I guess you hadnt heard the news about Holiday World buying new PTC trains for The Legend huh? The coaster was already one of the best in the world and they made this change to further please their guests (e.g. enthusiasts). But really, I understand your point.

They should leave Collosus alone.  As for Psyclone, well, maybe they could bust out some gasoline and have a huge bonfire at some kind of big event.......

"The same exact scenario applies to VIPER at S.F.Great America....I rode it the first year and it was KILLER! Fast as heck and TONS of air time. 2 years later the snake was dead. It had been slowed down in a couple of places and it was so dull I couldn't believe it. I won't waste cue time on it anymore."

Just a question, but, how could Viper @ SFGAm be slowed down in places seeing as though there are NO TRIM BRAKES throughout the entire course? *IF* you had a slower ride, it must have been due to thick grease, half empty train, planet mis-alignment or something else. Viper hasn't changed any that I'm aware of.
