I have ridden Psyclone four or five times. That's all the times I could bring myself to ride it. The last time I rode the ride I strained a muscle (don't ask why.) Psyclone is a rough ride which has NO speed. Of course if it had more speed it would be even worse. The trains are uncomfortable and it is an overall poor ride. Colossus on the other hand is not painful, but is practically a family coaster. I heard that when it opened it was one of or even the most terrifying coaster of its time. What should SFMM do with these two coasters?

Goliath, the Giant among Giants! Ride it today.
I had a great time on Colossus last month. Leave it alone! Grease it up a bit, remove the trims and speed up the chain. Psyclone? No brainer, Sell it to a park in South America and get a new CCI.

Yeeee Haaawwww!
Strip off the track down to the supports. Not just retrack, but strip down to the bare supports beyond the track. Maybe that would do something. They could just rebuild Psyclone (don't know if they would want to retrack a racer).

G.Bush:We will find those who did it, smoke them out of their holes, get them running, and bring them to justice.
I pray that I will never see a Six Flags Conneaut Lake
I also had a great front seat ride on Colossus a few weeks ago. Get some PTCs for it, race it and leave it alone.

Colossus had PTC trains...and NAD/IAD trains before that too...Racing Colossus will rip the ride apart if done on a continous basis...And yes It was the most terrifying ride of its time, and if left in its original opening day form, even rides like Shivering Timbers would hail in comparison to the airtime that colossus had (negative TWO G's)...All thats needed to fix it it really is a paintjob, grease up the ride, and speed up the chain(when the chainlift runs at its fastest, colossus still gives a hell of a ride). If SFMM wanted to go all out, they could bring back the double dip too =)
Psyclone is also a great ride, just its not so noticable unless you have your lapbar a few inches up =)...to improve psyclone SFMM needs to dump the heavy B&M trains (although very comfy, they are just too heavy!) in favor of some PTC's, run the ride w/o any trims, and finishing retracking it with I-beam track (the first drop was retracked using I-beams, and it sure does show)
I have no issue of Psyclone at all, in fact I love the ride. However, I remember riding Colossus in 1985 and it had this great thing, one of the trains went backwards..I'm some of the old school SFMM riders will remember the difference in lines for Colossus forwards and backwards. The wait for the regular ride was always 2-3 times longer than backwards, it was that damn scary. .why not do it again?

I've sorta noticed that Psyclone is reverse banked. What I mean is that instead of the banking goin towards you, it goes out. This makes it pretty painful. Anyone else notice this?

Drive to theme parks for the food, stay for the coasters!! Knott's Fried Chicken
Haven't been since last fall (don't they run one train backwards for Halloween season, they did last October). I thought Colossus was great, they WERE running both trains simultaneously. IMO, Grease and run, repeat as necessary. As far as Psyclone, new trains are a given, but a major retracking job seems to be in order. I hate to see people suggesting removal, wooden coasters should be cared for and loved, not thrown away like yesterday's newspaper...

They do run colossus backwards...during fright fest...
but why not run it backwards all year long?
They don't run Colossus backwards all year because they pull trains from Psyclone to run backwards on Colossus leaving only one train operation on Psyclone. Not good during the busier times of the year.

Yes, thats correct. They pull two of Psyclone's trains to run Colossus backwards. That is due to the need for headrests, which Colossus' and its Morgan 'california' trains do not have.
Re profiling Colossus with re tracking and new trains is a super cheap and super awesome thing for SFMM to do! In 2003 the ride turns 25. They could really market this ride and maybe race it for that year.

SFMM line cutters are the braviest in the world.
First of all, I think Psyclone should stay because if it is sold or something, Sfmm won't have the most coasters in a themepark. I haven't ridden Psyclone and from what everyone says about it I think I won't. I think Collosus needs retracking. I think what would make collosus a really good ride is removing breaks, Retracking it, Adding New Ptc Trains to it, Backwards all year, Add the double dip.

"Roar" You'll never hear the end of it!
I would love to see the double dip back on Colossus, but highly doubt we will, whatwith the death on that spot and all.... I love Psyclone. I just want to see it faster. Keep the lapbars loose, and hold on!

I am shocked at how many people dont HATE Psyclone. I hate the damn thing. Tried it again this year and it was as crappy as ever. I agree with janfredrick. Ship it to South America and replace it with a top-notch CCI. Colossus is fine, but is in serious need of a paintjob. Yes, I would consider it one of the tamer rides, but it is a dipper and not a speedy twister. I also remember that it used to be lit with different colored lights at night. I would like to see the colored lighting return.

My other car is a Giovanola!
SFMM does not have the most coaster, it is tied right now. Can't seem to get X going. CP will pass them up in 2002!!!! Maybe in a few years they will be able to call themselfs the "Xtreme Park". From what I seen there this year, they have a long long way to go.
Oh great, yet another person hung up on coaster records and false park pride. Did anyone ask for opinions on CP in this thread? Once again, give it a rest....Please!

LoadedG...not only do I like Psyclone, but it made my wife cry! She was terrified....to me, the ride did its job.;) I agree it certainly isn't anywhere near a great ride, but no ride, unless truly dangerous, should be torn down. Just give the thing some love, you know? I also agree that CCI is the BEST, but we are riding trends here, and who is to say that a CCI would be treated with any more respect by SF than Psyclone or Colossus already. I think it is much more the park chains' fault than the design, flawed or not. What do you think?
