What happened to Turbulence?

Has an announced coaster ever gone sour enough to eventually not be built?

Jazzland announced an SLC twice and it was never built. I'm pretty sure that had more to do with the park's finances, though.

Not trying to pick on you because we all make typo's every now and then...but this made me laugh :-)

I know, I saw it too but I figured it was funny to me, so others would find some humore in it too, glad that at least someone noticed :)

^^Yeah but look at what Jazzland(SFNO) got instead.....a B:TR,I'd take that over an SLC any day.

Actually TR:TR will be a huge draw seeing as none of the 3 parks in the region has a topspin yet(out of the local parks HP competes with)& SFA's waterpark expansion is not going to be anywhere near as big as most assume(just a couple of slides) so aside from Hydra,TR & KK not much is going on in the area this coming season.

HP can still market SR for another year while they come up with a solution to the Turbulance problem....they've recieved two coasters in two years which is more than some parks in the region have gotten in the same time span & besides they're a family oriented park so their attendance won't be hampered too severly,if at all by the cancellation of the ride & they can just look forward to something else in 06.

And we have another winner! Not only whas BFSFA managed to turn this thread into a whiny "SFA is deprived" thread, it only took three pages, and was even about a major occurance at another park! Now that takes committment, talent and skill.

I must also give an honorable mention to dismissing a heavily themed top spin, unique floorless and record-setting rocket coaster as "not much", and of course considering everything from mid-Virginia to northeast PA one travel "region".

A masterful work BFSFA, you surely deserve your official membership to the piss and moan club with this post!

You beat me to it. "Aside from TR, KK, and Hydra, not much". You don't need anything aside from those, as those are huge additions to these parks.

Down is the new up.

It *was* eventually built, LOL, just at Magic Springs...;)

Best solutions to "Turbulance" problems:

- Having all passengers stay in their seats and fasten their seat belts.

- Stablizers on the wings.

- Adjust altitude or flight path to avoid the problem compeltely.

They even had a story about this in my little local paper today. So now I know it MUST be true. Of course, I never noticed that Balloon Flite and Starship America had been removed in the first place, because I seldom went through that area of the park. I guess now I won't be able to miss them.
There was a press release and everything, but you won't find it on the Hersheypark page (of course).
I must say I'm suprised that the conspiracy was indeed true. But I still contest that the biggest overreaction was to the Gonch thread last week;).

Nice going guys! Paint me suprised.

I have that effect on people. ;)

Oh wait, I had nothing to do with that thread blowing up, in fact it was one of the more fun threads with us all poking fun at ourselves.

Some people suck.

Here is another story from the local Harrisburg paper The Patriot News.

I assume Balloon Flite is a Balloon Race, but what kind of ride is Starship America?

-Nate

Balloon Flite is a children's Balloon Race ride that used to be near the Sidewinder, while Starship America, I believe, is a roto-jet (?) that sat near the Pirate Ship and the old Music Box Theater before the theater was torn down and a larger one was built to replace it. It is similar to what Cedar Point used to have near the Blue Streak years ago and to the one currently at Knoebels, though that one may be a different manufacturer. Basically, it is a spinning rocket ride. *** Edited 12/11/2004 4:54:01 PM UTC by Brother Dave***
You are correct, Starship America (formerly the AeroJets) is a Klaus RotoJet ride, similar to Knoebel's. It was originally installed at Ponchartrain Beach Park in New Orleans in 1955 and moved to Hershey in 1962, where it ran until the end of the 2002 season. With any luck, it will be restored to the original design. It actually belongs out in Midway America, but I'll be happy just to see it go back in....
Thanks for the info, Comet Rider! I'm glad to see it coming back, too!
Is there any truth to the rumor that Hersheypark will replace the existing statue of Milton Hershey with one where is he flipping the bird with one hand and holding a sign in the other telling Interactive Rides to eat something and die?
Hmm.. I hadn't heard that rumor, and given the fact that Hersheypark is family friendly, I doubt it.

Although I wouldn't put it past someone with too much time on their hands to take a picture and do a photoshop edit ;)
