What happened to Turbulence?

Tekno, I realize your post was more of a joke than anything else, but if that were true, wouldn't Hershey be liable for libel against Interactive? (sorry, I couldn't resist the alliteration)

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
A) Not if IR is in on it with Hersheypark ;)

B) It wouldn't be Libel or Slander, but breach of contract. Actually, it wouldn't even be that.:) *** Edited 12/19/2004 7:45:07 AM UTC by TeknoScorpion***

You know, you're right Tekno.. if IR is in on it, they wouldn't care b/c it'd be publicity for them as well.

But IF this is true, and IF they're in on it, I think they have some pretty dumb people in their PR department. You know - the ones that say "no, this wouldn't be a good idea because it'll leave a bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouths even after we say this is all a joke and a publicity stunt".

Or perhaps they have smart people, and they were just out sick that day :)

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
hehe, right. But it was definitly not ment as something serious. Unless, like the origional post, it turns out to be true, then I'll be a god among mortals;).
Among mortals? Doubtful.. maybe Herculean-type demi-god among enthusiasts... ;)

...prophet of Coasterbuzz at least? ;)

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
I'll take it;).
Then the Middle District Court would also have to be in on the gag, since from what the stories have said, a suit has been filed. And I'm reasonably sure that IR would be aware at this point that they are being sued.
Take it for what you will, but here's the latest update on Turbulence from Screamscape...http://www.screamscape.com/html/hersheypark.html.

It seems that IR was not demanding more money.

Per Screamscape...IR said, “we feel the contract is still in force”.

Looks like Gonch was right after all...They are still going to build the damn thing. ;-)

Imagine the look on the faces of HP exec's when the trucks start pulling into their parking lots with track pieces.

No further explanation needed. I'm hopelessly lost.

Heh. IR is like a jilted girlfriend who refuses to believe you really broke up with them. Like the chick in the first Wayne's World movie. :)

BTW, Gonch never said "they're still going to build the damn thing" - Gonch paraphrased what Lance at Screamscape was told by people at IR. ("We're still building this damn thing")

I'd prefer you don't put words in my mouth :)

Gonch also just referred to himself in the third person no less than three times which makes him cooler than anyone who has referred to themself in the third person two or less times.

It seems like little more than PR spin to downplay the whole thing on IR's part, but if Hershey is just using the lawsuit to play hardball and get the ride for $2 million, it looks like it may be working. According to that statement they seem more than willing to deliver the ride (a tad late) at the original price tag. Hershey obviously wants the ride and their lawsuit seems to be based on the agreed upon price. If IR says they'll deliver at the $2 million - then what?

Regardless of the outcome this has been an amusing and bizarre story to follow. I'd love for the ride to be at Hersheypark when we visit this upcoming season. It looked like it would be an interesting little ride.

Well, with them bringing back the other 2 rides, where would they put it?

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
My guess is that the two rides would go back into storage, and Turbulance would go where orginally planned.
Clint Feels that if Hersheypark does deliver Turbulence, the other 2 rides will still be erected somewhere, but what does clint know?

Clint thinks that this would be a great ride to try out...if they'd just build the darn thing!

Clint understands Hersheyparks' and IR's frustration, but hopes that both can work it out to get this coaster.

Clint just refered to himself in the 3rd person 4 times, and is infinitly cooler than Gonch, but we knew that anyhow, didn't we?;)

"It is enevitible".

George reminds Tek that it is spelled inevitable, not enevitable.

George also reminds Tek that it is infinitely not infinatly.

George laughs because Tek said erected.

George just referred to himself in the 3rd person four times and is much cooler then Gonch.

George just referred to himself in the 3rd person five times and is exponentially cooler then Tekno. ;)

Hey, thats what happens when

A) your up @ 3:00am
B) your more interested in the DVD playing

Normally I would have ran the post thru Word for Errors;).

Same thing happens when you're up @ 3:00.

Oh wait, shouldn't I be inserting a winking smiley there?

In case no one ever got a final answer on this (they probably have), Hershey cancelled the ride. The manufacturer couldn't might their requirements for the specs and the time table.

Hershey has a pending lawsuit with the manufacturer.

Perhaps you missed the 7 pages of discussion preceding your post. :)

And the news item.

But, umm, thanks for the input.

If Interactive Rides agrees to build it for the original amount, granted a little late, what then?
