Geauga Lake named their new coaster for 1988 Raging Wolf Bobs out of horor for another coaster that had burnt down.
Accually, the coaster it is named after (The Bobs, Riverview Park, Chicago, IL) never burned down. The park closed, and everything was demolished. I think a school sits on it today. I don't know, would I want to goto that school or not? You would hear the screams of all the ghosts (who didn't die in the park, but of old age and returned to it) going on Blue Streak, The Bobs, The Flying Turns, The Fireball, and many more, but you would not be able to ride them!
DDFire19, accually, Pepsi Max Big One is simple. Sponsership. Pepsi Max is a Pepsi product (well, isn't that obvious) which is not avalible in the US, but almost everywhere else, for sure Canada and the UK.
This isn't a coaster, but I don't think The Play Station (Blackpool Pleasure Beach) fits the ride. How does a video game console fit into a S&S space shot?
As for coasters, one that doesn't fit at all would have to be S:TE. I don't understand it. Superman must escape from what? His fortress of solitude! Why would anyone want to escape thier fortress of solitude? It would be so peaceful in there you'd never want to leave, and to top it off, Superman doesn't escape at all, but instead gets caught by a villian not even he can escape (gravity) and gets put back in his fortress of solitude.

Uhm, if you didn't know, Batman was always referred to as "The Dark Knight". Just FYI.

Iron Wolf: Can you stand it?
I think I read somewhere that it's the Chinese word for fear, but don't quote me on that...
I guess I should have asked my wife about that one. She is Japanese, but she uses a lot of Kanji's and if I remember correctly, isn't there a Kanji with name on the sign? I guess I shouldn't have said "strange" about Chang, just different. The only comment I can make to continue this thread is the fact that I dislike the movie themed coasters. I love most of the actual rides, but really dislike the names...Batman, Riddlers Revenge, Speed, Top Gun. The sad part of naming rides like this is that the ride is 'dated' to a specific period of pop culture (or if you are Disney, you are too late, and name a ride after Who wants to be a millionaire.), and places that pop 'concept' forever in the minds of the riders. Will we ever see a coaster named something simple like "Cyclone", or "Twister?"...and NO...I am not talking about the movie! lol:)

La Montana Rusa...Sure, it's Spanish for Roller Coaster, but would you name a roller coaster 'Roller Coaster'? Sure! Let's go to "Bar" and have "Drink".

I'm sure you already knew this but it actually translates to Russian Mountain, which is what they call rollercoasters. I think it sounds cool, IMO.
Anyway, I get a kick out of some of the foreign coaster names. Elf, Rhythmical Coaster, Space Salamander, Antelope, and Hundeprutterutschebane are pretty strange.

Just so you know, in Puyallup Wa, there is a 1935 Miller ACE classic at the Western Washington Fair called "Coaster Thrill Ride." Hoooo...quite an exciting name. I get to ride it tomorrow afternoon, though. Great ride, boring name.
