What are they (HW/SS) up to now? (Timberliners on Voyage)

Really? Voyage, old/rough?

Not the most precise choice of words - changed :)

It has been reported that Will Koch said there is a 40% chance the new trains will be ready for Holiwood Nights.

In other news, the Alveys won the HW staff auction. CB isn't getting any HW love lately.

Uh... you do realize we're having an event there, right? There's a 100% chance the Timberliners will be ready by then. :)

Speaking of Alvey, go to Google and type in Robb Alvey and see what suggestions pop up first ;).

^^Come on guys... this isn't the place to personally knock people.

Not cool.

Sorry, but it isn't my fault that his past caught up to Google. I was merely stating a fact. Besides if you do a thorough search of Buzz, you'll see far worse Alveybashing.

^Especially if you are seeking to bash someone :)

I think we all have facts in our past that may or may not be perceived to be ... unsavory, what's your point?

So, can't wait to ride those Timberliners!

You know, having looked back at what I posted, I didn't even 'knock' Alvey. I simply said to Google his name. You can take up for him all you want, but you're not going to find too many supporters outside of TPR. Anyone who puts themself up as a celeb be it on TV or the Internet is going to have the more unsavory parts of their past shared on the internet, commented on, editoralized, etc. And weren't we recently Knocking that other old CoasterGeek that used to be in all the TV shows? Why didn't you come in there and stop us all?

^Yes, I saw that and thought that too was pretty low.

I try to keep my mouth shut and let the people who should be saying 'stop it' do so. It's not my site, but I still have an opinion.

If it makes you feel better about yourself to make others look bad, that's up to you.

And if it makes you feel better to do the same, more power to you, as it appears that would be your goal here too. You're entitled to your opinion, and I mine (I have an informed opinion on Alvey, BTW), but don't try to take the moral high ground when I said something, when you failed to do so when the site's owner said something about someone else.

I think we can probably talk about something more interesting now.

I'm still wondering why there's discussion about "one" PTC train for HWN....did the other two already leave HW for future destination(s) and I somehow missed that part of the discussion? Entirely possible.....even probable. TiA! :)

Pagoda Gift Shop's avatar

Yeah, sorry I opened that can of worms.

As for the PTC situation, there has been no confirmation as to the status of the other PTC trains. I would assume they are still at the park, but do you think HW did full season prep on them thinking they wouldn't be used?

Tekwardo's avatar

They should still have 2 full PTCs. They'r running them on the weekends, I thought?

^Hmm... the other 2 PTC went to Darien Lake for the Predator - I'm pretty sure 2 of them went.

There was a picture on another website of the Predator with the Voyage train. They have fitted it (them?) with the previous 'high backs' that were on Predator. Other than that, they look like the Voyage trains - same color and everything, with a Predator logo on back. Supposedly that ride is fast and smooth now!

Billy

Can't wait for HWnights regardless of what happens with the Timberliners. Perhaps you can buy one of the trains back from Darien Lake, it's not making a gigantic difference to the ride... :)

(though i'll admit I havn't felt the need to see a doctor after taking 3 rides on it, but it's definitely not making the HUGE GIGANTIC SO SMOOOOTHHH difference everyone seemed to have expected. But i won't lie, it is better and I had REALLY fun rides on it. Thank you Holiday World! The gift that keeps on giving...)

Sorry to quote myself ;) -- yes the trains are running on Predator at Darien Lake

ALSO: http://coasterbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/57179.aspx

Wasn't quoting to be an ass, it's a long thread. :)

When I rode only 1 train was running, but I'd assume the other was on the transfer track. I didn't think to look (plus it's all enclosed now and not easy to see), but I would think they got 2 trains, leaving the third at HW.

But didn't Predator have the hard seats? In which case at least 60% of the ride improvement that could come from putting the Voyage trains on Predator would just have been *wasted*.

Someone was talking about how HW and GG are not getting Intamin-style complaints for being so late with a running train...

My thought is that this is recognized as a major technological advancement, a train that has never been built before, never been tested before, never been run before on this ride, and never subjected to any form of acceptance testing. Delays are almost inevitable these days from any manufacturer. It's just that Gravity Group doesn't have Intamin's long record of successive failures for us to point at. With proven hardware, Gravity Group normally gets the work done on time. Meanwhile Intamin can't even measure their own boats...

The other thing is, they still have (one) (non-timberliner) train running while the park is open... so all is not lost. If voyage was closed completely, I'm sure it would rile up a few people.

For what its worth, there are 5 functional PTC trains at Holiday World.

I doubt it would be worth the trouble, but I wonder about the logistics of borrowing a train from Raven or Legend for Holliwood Nights. I believe Raven and Legend's trains have 6 cars (vs. Voyage's 7), so that might pose a challenge with the loading gates. The 6 car train would give a slightly different ride experience too.

It would make for unique photo ops anyway, and even a new coaster "credit" : The "Ravoyage".
