After riding Quantum Loop, the ride as it is today is an unmitigated piece of junk. However, I don't think the ride is unsalvageable.
What I noticed is the ride has a decent layout for a small; portable coaster, and the train seems to have very solid tracking.
The popblem is the trains, or more to the point the restraints in the train. Quantum Loop uses a one-size-fits-most solution and has a non-adjustable lapbar that positively mechanically locks on both sides of the train. They would have been fine to leave it at that, but noooooo, they fouled it up by the way theey attached it, instead of having it come down from overhead either on the sides, or in the center, much like on a Breakdance or a chairlift, they instead tried to fashion pseudo OTSR's by having the main lapbar attached to the hinge by four bars. The higne points are in back of each rider n the headrest, and are unpadded steel bars that extend from the pivot point then as they cross in front of your body, narrow as to form a "V" shape. It's a VERY secure system, except if you are tall. If you are sufficiently tall, like me (6') the pivot point is lower than your shoulder, which means the only way to get the bar closed is to severely pinch your shoulder blade, which results in excruciating pain. (I was literally screaming in agony when, after they got two ride ops over, were able to force the bar closed) The ride does have two rows for "Larger Riders", but gut wasn't my problem, height was. I did eventually move to the "Larger Riders" row before riding, but only so I could slouch down in the seat, after the train left the station, I slouched down far enough to get my shoulder baldes out of the 'vice of death', which put the lapbar about over my stomach.
Therefore, if we can get a restraitn system overhaul, or get a PTC steel train on it, this might be a salvageable ride, as it stands now, its a prime candidate for the scrap metal recycling facility.

Just to add fuel to the fire... SFDL had their SLC blocked off this past year for FrightFest when in years past the trail to MindEraser was a huge haunted path. I was hoping it was b/c they were prepping for a new ride but could it be they are prepping their SLC to be torn down? I hope not, I love the front seat on that ride!!
I can say that I don't think that it is SFDL's since I know for a fact that they just sent the trains back to Verkoma to be rebuilt. So I doubt that they would sell it. Also when was the path way a haunted trail I have worked both on the Mind Eraser and work fright fest and I know for a fact that it never was a haunted trail.

I'll rephrase... Not a Haunted Trail as in an attraction you wait in line for but they did theme the trail & bridge over the water to Mind Eraser...

SFDL's Mind Eraser is rarely full, the only time the wait is over 20 mins is on a packed day. Knowing how bad that park is becoming its probably the Mind Eraser from there. If they do move it we'll only have 4 coasters. If it is leaving maybe it's going to make room for another coaster? (We're in need of one)

Well then it looks as if the field has been narrowed down to two,the one at SFDL or the one at SFNE.
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to which of these two coasters is up for sale? the thing is who would want to buy it.
I say that if either of those two parks have it for sale... then a local park nearby should purchase it for their park!!
SFNE... If they sold their Mind Eraser, then it should be moved to The Great Escape and re-themed (and re-painted). It would certainly help the coaster count at The Great Escape, and would DEFINATELY help keep up their reputation to keep purchasing rejected rides.
SFDL... If they sold their Mind Eraser, then it should goto either nearby Martin's Fantasy Island, who could use a steel coaster, or Seabreeze in Rochester, NY. I would much rather see Seabreeze get this since they are a little further out.
Then again, wouldn't the public eventually catch on that these coasters have only shifted a few miles to a different park??
Following 2002's season, Mind Eraser was SFNE's third most popular attraction, following behind strangely, was #4 Batman:Dark Knight. Mind Eraser is still being advertised as one of the park's biggest attractions, so it wont go if the board knows what's good for the park.
Came you have a campaign for three straight years saying: Come ride the Mind Eraser-Monster Coaster, and then turn around the next year and say our monster coaster is gone. Besides, we know that the townspeople will not allow another major coaster into the park for while now. So if Mind Eraser were to go, a coaster wouldn't go in it's place for probably a couple of seasons.

it's common sense really. like it or not SFNE's Mind Eraser still draws a crowd, and as Vertigo just previously posted it is still one of the parks most popular attractions, beating out the parks newest coaster B:TDK. (I myself perfer B:TDK over Mind Eraser any day)
The town board has already stated that the park will not be allowed to add any major attractions until a few things are straightened out first.
So why would a park remove a coaster that's still quiet popular w/the GP, and leave that land empty for a few years until they can fit another major attraction in its place? The answer is they wont.
Now that's not to say that the Mind Eraser will be there forever, but it will definately be there for the 2003/2004 seasons.

I really dont know what the complaint is about Quantum Loop at Seeabreeze. I thought it was a decent enough ride, comparable is just about all aspects with Laser from Dorney Park. I am approx 6' tall and I had no problems whatsoever with the restraints. In fact, I recall being mildly impressed by their weird "Bastardized OTSR" configuration. It ran just fine to me.
And I think that y'all should pay attention to rollergator's point. After all, CP#16 was *built* in 2002, though it will not open till 2003...
