Valleyfair Preparing for a new Coaster?

I heard from screamscape that there were markings on the ground near the challenge park and i also heard there is a clearing of land over by high roller, there was also a spotting of what looked to be like a support.

Yeah, he's basically repeating what I've said here and on URC.

I don't think this thread will last very long....

They get one and WOF doesn't!?!?

Riiiight

I think VF attracts more people than WOF, and pluss VF hasnt got a major coaster since 96 so stop ur whining.

Yup.

It's not about perceived 'need'...it's about justifying the expense. 200,000 more attendees a year will justify ROI a whole lot quicker.

WOF is still profitable, but has dipped well below the million mark for two years now.

Attendance doesn't just go up magically. I bet if WOF got a new coaster, it would go up, but then again, I'm no amusement industry expert.

It all depends on the location of the park and How many people live in the state, in minnesota there is about 5 million or more people so you can see why valleyfair's attendence is up all the time.

I visit Minnesota each year and it isn't too big. And a lot of the population is in cities that are far from Minneapolis. But with my expierence from here in Denver which is very similar, advertising can boost the attendence greatly. Especially with a coaster. SFEG has been advertising the hell out of TFC, and the attendence has gone up a lot. But this is just my assumption from my expierence.
No question Valleyfair has a much better collection than WOF. As said before Valleyfair gets more attendance so a new coaster would be more justifiable. I'm sure WOF will get something in 2004. Maybe even something next year.

I don't see much of a difference, except that VF has an over-sized mine train, and a wild mouse. Please explain how that is so much better than WOF's.

TO put a spin on an age old question:

Which comes first: Attendance or the coaster?

Valleyfair doesnt have an over sized mine train and there collection of coasters is better for example:

Wild Thing- Hyper Coaster

Corkscrew- Steel Coaster

High Roller- Wooden Coaster

Excaliber- Hybrid Coaster (Wood/Steel)

Mad Mouse- Steel

See the variety on the coasters and alls there are really missin is like a Invert.

Uhhh...

Mamba-Hyper

Orient-Steel

Timber Wolf-Wooden

Worlds of Fun has the first three things you listed. And Excalibur (while I'm sure it's a great ride) IS an over-sized mine train. Just like Gemini.

Plus they both have kiddies and WOF has a plain old Boomerang instead of a plain old mouse. I'm still not convinced that their collection is SO much better.

The real question is: When am I gonna get my $10 million back and how long is it gonna take?

CP and KBF can pay off an investment quicker than the other parks due to their higher park attendance and their hotels. So they get more money.

DP has a larger potential audience than any other park in the chain, but stiff competition and no hotels. So they won't get CP or KBF money, but they'll get their share.

Tiny VF doesn't just draw more people to their tiny park than WOF...they've drawn 200,000 more people last year in a market that's only 1 million people larger. And they did that during an operating season two months shorter than their southern sister. A shorter season in a smaller park = less expenses and more profit. They've got the track record. They get the budgets.

This is a business. It's about dollars and cents. This is how it works.

(who just hopes they don't blow their third $10 million cap budget in seven years on a WT clone when they could build a B&M for about the same $$$)

PS - VF does in fact have an oversized mine train. It's called Excalibur. Wooden coasters with steel rails from Arrow are called mine trains. CP's Gemini is an oversized mine train, too. And while I'm at it, let me tell you I like Boomerangs. A lot. In fact, if VF's next coaster turned out to be an Invertigo, I'd be tickled pink.

I agree with PT300, the collection is almost identical. And unless you have been to both parks, you can't say one is SO much better than the other.

I think you have had your head banged around one to many times on Vekoma Coasters to say something that crazy!

Someone that enjoys boomerangs…………what’s this world coming too??????

What wrong with Widl Thing being a good over sized mine train. The fact is Arrow and Morgan's mine trains are the same coaster as the Arrow And Morgan's Hypercoaster. This is why I call Mamba a mine train. Another name for Mine Train is Jr. Hyper (I guess its a coaster between 160 and 200 feet).

Go to WOF durring the week when its not Busy. You can marathon our Boomerang. I done this many times. It preaty cool going upside down alot in 10 mins. I never go on our Boomerang on busy days or when the line goes almost into the Zinger house. I would ride ones if its walkway is half full. I would reride when it's a 1 or no train wait for the Boomerang.

In fact when I was at SFWoA right after Coaster Mainia the day before. The Boomerang there (Its called Mind Eraser and has early Vekoma trains on it) had only a 1 train wait to get on.

I think this is one of those situation where whinning is acceptable.

If I can't whine about this then what can I whine about?;)
