Why not? I think that now GCI has become more popular, CF could start making more wooden coasters now. Not just because of GCI, but because better wooden coasters are being made.
Sure, GCI has been doing well for themselves, but I think this is hardly a reason to believe that a certain park will install one of their rides.
I think MagnumBarrel is correct when saying wood is doubtful. VF is lacking a couple of signature steel designs, and Cedar Fair hasnt built a wooden coaster in quite some time. Although not impossible, I think a GCI is one of the least likely possibilities overall.
Oh and CFLP hadn't built a rapids ride either until Grand Rapids @ MiA -- again what's your point?
Not saying either way what it may or may not be, but when does it end up being a GCII, will you all eat crow?

When or if?
Yes :)
During the morning ERT on High Roller, I witness a ride op make a comment to the loaded train in the station about "keeping your eyes open for something new next year".
When asked to continue he looked over to the other ride ops and seemed to regret bringing it up.
Went to ACE Preservation Conference:
First question of the Q&A during dinner was about these rumors. The speaker's answer was a very vague yes about something to look forward to but does not know what...so he says.
Later that night another ACE member told me he continued to talk to the speaker until he got a real answer. And the answer was a new woodie. Did not get if it was to be GCI or not though.
Even though there is evidence of the GCI possibility, I will still hold this to speculation concidering my personal source on what kind of coaster this will be. But the other question is answered in my mind that VF will recieve another coaster for 2007.
And if it is a woodie, take into account that there are already two "out-n-backs" at this park. Even if one is a steel hyper.
I've seen the stakes by the tunnel. And there is one visible through the fences across the road towards T Canyon. I did not see any at the antique cars. Did not know to look there until after everything was done.
READY FOR 2007
Thanks for another great season, VF!
Beyond what has already been announced or known about already for next season, I can see CF tightening the pocketbook for a couple of years to work toward elimating their recently aquired debt.
I could also see a bulk of what will be happening being behind closed doors. Getting all the new parks up to CF standards will be their #1 priority and that includes more things than "what's our next ride going to be?!" That's just my opinion though.

Maybe in '08 like mentioned earlier, but I doubt it for '07. With all that CF is going through right now having just purchased Paramount's parks, I wouldn't count on any huge cost rides for the very near future.
Why not? Patriot was bought 2 years before it was built. I'm sure the same thing is going on here. PP's purchase has nothing to do with anything. Unline SF Parks, each park in the CFLP chain has their own pool of money to draw from. IF the ROI is not there then it doesn't get built.

^Where were you sitting at lunch at Coster Craze? CostaPlaya and I were sitting right in front of the "prize table".
I was way in the back corner by the waterpark sitting with the old guy in the leather vest. I was the one wearing the green bucket hat with the ACE patch on the front.
I think I know who you are too. I remembered you from Mayhem at WOF, answering all the trivia questions. And I've seen your site and agree that the event at WOF was better. Even if VF is my home park.
Thanks for another great season, VF!

^Proof?Xtreme Swing was running before Christmas.
That is NOT proof that there is money left over and I'm not exactly sure what you are getting at by even mentioning it.

Yes that was me at Mayhem. IT really wasn't fair on my part to answer all of those questions since there was maybe (at most) 5 people in attendance that even half-way knew most of that stuff. I just happen to be a huge WOF nerd like Jennifer Lovesee-Mast (The one doing the questions) and just happend to know things like that.
At Craze, I was wearing my yellow MiG polo, if that helps.
