Ugly Coasters

As for the ugliest coaster, I gotta say that, while this may have not been the ugliest coaster to begin with, after the reconfiguration, it's hard for me to look at, it just looks indescribably terrible. http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery254.htm?Picture=2 blah! I can't even tell you how much I hate the look of that coaster.

Ewwwwwwwww that is an ugly coaster! Lol, I wouldn't be caught dead on that thing. To kick the sky, I also think Maggies trains are hideous. I forgot to mention that in my post. Those trains are very 1989. They probably looked very cool and high-tech back then.

The thing about Volcano that really gets me is the fact that the inside of the volcano is not themed at all. It just looks like you're going up out of a support with some plaster around it. It would've been real nice and added to the ride experience if the inside of the volcano was bathed in red light and looked more like the outside.

I forgot one in my original post. Top Thrill Dragster. Just the way it twists and the fact that it doesnt make a nice neat parabola (sp). There is just something that makes it look "not right". Then again it is the largest phallic symbol in Ohio since the Perry Victory Memorial. ;)

I thought NITRO was pretty ugly looking. It even took away from the ride experience, personally. Those colors are just so 80's and ugly.
Yeah, I think the ride experience would be so much better if everyone turned their collars up, grew a mullet and wore leg warmers.

That ride looks alot uglier in person, still really ugly there.

Personally, I find coasters that start getting into a 3 color scheme don't work out.

As for the WORST on the planet, my vote goes for...

MANTIS!! What's up with that color scheme (they at least repainted it this year). Purple/blue/whatever they call it now. Yellow spine, and then Red track? It would have been fine, with purple and yellow, but to add the Red?

On top of that, it's one of the few coaster colors that doesn't even match the name! I would expect some type of Mantis/Nature/Wildlife colors with it. The worst was last year, when the red was actully sun bleached pink!

I like many things about TTD, but I'm still not crazy about the supports and track. I'm not a big fan of parks that switch the colors of supports througout the ride, or go from one pattern of track color to another.

X I think is just one of the ugliest coasters I've ever seen. All that support looks good on a wooden coaster, but on a steel coaster just makes it look retarted. How the track, color, and train looks just makes it look ugly to me. I know it maybe a good ride, but it just looks weird to me.

Throwing out the fact that Mantis' color scheme really has nothing to do with its name (or 'theme,' if there is one), the colors work well together. They're the 3 primary colors, for Pete's sake! Ever seen a Mondrian?

Volcano: The Blast Coaster. The inside the mountain theme is a good concept with the train blasting out of the top, but the entire look is lost by the scafolding like support structure and track work surrounding the mountain.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

*retarded*.

Explain, please, how a coaster growth has been inhibited or slowed? Better yet, explain why you think it's okay to insult people who are learning disabled because your pea-sized brain can't manage to comprehend some other adjective that doesn't hurt people. K, thx. I'd imagine you're capable of better; otherwise you're quite self-depracating.

Yeesh.

Uh. Did I mention yet that Dragon Wagons are ugly?

I waited for 7.5 hours through four tornado warnings and all I have to show for it is this lousy kiddie coaster credit.

Ugly coasters...hmmm...I think they just turn ugly when people dont take care of them...hum, hum, SF Astroworld, as already said. Excalibur is ugly cause its all apart at Frontier City, or at was at least. I need to check on that .

First off I never intended to hurt anybody, I have nothing against disabled people so why are you starting with me just because I used the word retarded. I'm sorry if I offended you.

I'm a fan of bright colors so I like Wildcat and Mantis. BTW, Mantis color scheme has always been red, yellow and blue. It was just freshly painted. I think the Batman rides, and Demon look great in black...it matches the theme.

The only coaster I have evern considered ugly was Iron Wolf at SFGAm. Even in my trip report from last august I asked why they painted it such an ugly color.

I would also place Disaster Transport's building in the "ugly" category.

PT300: I said it's supposed to be green because its a copy of Raptor, and Raptor is green and looks much nicer.

About Expedition Geforce and Goliath @ SFH, I think those coasters look pretty sharp, especially Goliath in this picture. I think I'm in the minority on this one, but there's something about TTD's look that I like....it's probably just the fact that it's 420 feet tall though.

I agree that TTD is pretty ugly. The way the supports start to lean in on the back towards the top makes it worse. A good picture of this would be the 3rd live park cam. I think MF is very good looking but TTD is just plain ugly

There are some ugly features about TTD. I would have built a restraunt and obsevation area near the top hat.

Sure Raptor looks nicer, but a park can paint a ride whatever color they want.

Personally, I think Raptor and Mantis have their colors backwards.

Mamoosh: That was Hilarious!

As for ugly coasters, I think a ride which has not been painted in a while or has gotten weathered will classify as ugly.
