Two more out the door at Geagua Lake?

^Nice signature. Boxer is one of my favorite albums of the year so far.

It's my favorite of the year, so far. But Strawberry Jam and the new Jens Lekman are pretty darn close. This has been a great year for music. Lots of phenomenal albums.

That's pretty cool to hear about KD. Lake Compounce is right down the road from me and I just realized a few weeks ago there's very little music anywhere. That sort of thing can really enhance the atmosphere of a park even if it's just for background noise. IOA's soundtrack is still awe inspiring to me.

Let's not forget how they handled Steel Venom last year and Raging Wolf Bobs this year. If these were at any of their other parks they would have been up and running after their accidents within a week. Instead they just let them stay closed. Wolf Bobs has been down since June.

It very well may be my favorite. Strawberry Jam is impressive. I think it may reach an even larger audience for AC. I can't believe they didn't include the song "Safer" on the album. Sooo good. Special bonus for fans who will dig that stuff up I guess. I need to listen to the Jens Lekman. Hissing Fauna and Sound of Silver are the two other albums that really stand out to me from 2007 so far. Great year for music indeed.

Most of us aren't full time staff in maintenance at the park. So yes, we don't know the whole story.

It would be nice though, if the park at least came up with some sort of excuse as to why the rides are down. It doesn't even have to be true! Some statement from the park would be better than saying nothing, and then removing the ride.

At Cedar Point, at least they come up with excuses for some of what they do. It would be nice if they did it chain wide.

While it was sad to see Steel Venom go, that ride was, in my opinion, too much of a liability, and an accident waiting to happen, due to poor design. Wicked Twister was a HUGE improvement, in my humble opinion.

I still stand by my opinion that it seems as though Cedar Fair has given up on the park after their large expenditures in 2004 and 2005 had virtually no returns.

By the way, are you working at the Point again this year?

I think they need to salvage the rides and then move them out to different parks. Then move Soak City to GL and make it a huge water park. It would change GL and clear up some space for Cedar Point.

^^Well it looks like they might have to seeing as how SF ruined the park's reputation.Remember that Kinzel had high hopes for the park when CF first aqquired it but when the attendance turned out to be lower than expected those hopes obviously changed.

You keep barking up the wrong forrest!, SF did not ruin Geauga Lake, the people that deported all the animals, uprooted the waterpark and moved it to where the animals were, and then proclaimed a NEW WATERPARK are the ones who ruined it, it's almost a bait and switch, people showed up hoping to see a "NEW" waterpark and basically what they got was the ride side's waterpark moved over to replace the animals. Even Kintzel admitted the animals were a bigger draw than he thought.

anyway

I can almost guarantee that Dominator will be at KD soon

The old Hurricane Harbor waterpark was used only 2 seasons ago in 2005 as well as 2004. They completely closed it off once the new Wavepool was built. Oh, and other than the tops of shark attack, you hardly see anything in terms of rotting waterpark from the road. A car passing at 35mph wouldn't know the difference.
^and most of the cars that pass there everyday are locals, many of which had no idea the park was even open.

Why?
You have a ninety degree day and as you look at the park, from rt43 toward the old waterpark you see no one on any of the stairs to the slides.

If anyone wants to hear some funny comments, go to the Speedway Gas station across the street from the park and talk to the workers.

Only three weeks ago we stopped for gas there and one worker said. Wildwater Kingdom? Dude, there ain't been no waterpark there in two to three years. Look (and he pointed the old park.
Even his co-workers agreed with him.
You see anyone climbing the stairs?
Duh!!!
I told him it was on the SeaWorld side and he laughed, along with his co-workers and said;,yeah, sure it is...

This thread is kind of funny. Nothing has been announced yet and your all putting down Cedar Fair for removing rides that haven't even been officially reported to be moving yet. Once it happens talk about it all you want.

About the waterpark, its one of the nicest I have ever been to and probably #3 after Disney's parks. My girlfriend and I both agreed that we felt like we were on vacation when we only live 2 hours away. Thats hard to do.

^^You know, over at the GLT forums some posters there are thinking about taking things to the extreme over these rumored relocations & in a way it's starting to get out of hand.

Kind of like you getting out of hand with all of your "SFA needs a new coaster" threads? What are people supposed to talk about on a forum dedicated to Geauga Lake? Yes, there are some diehards there that are upset. If you don't like reading about it, don't go to that site. Simple as that. Isn't there some sort of SFA Today website with pages of Ultra Twister or Stand-Up Coaster discussion?

... it's a wasted effort for them to behave as though the world is going to come to an end if these rides are in fact removed & relocated.

I guess it's just funny to hear someone who whines about additions at SFA lash out at fanboys of another amusement park. At times it sounded like the world was going to come to an end when a new coaster wasn't announced or the park's newest addition didn't live up to your high standards.

LOL!

Oh. You were serious?

^^ man you guys are nasty to each other...
I had no clue the animals were deported! What happened? Did their green cards expire?
I talked to Bill Spehn tonight at the park. (Okay, it was brief, it was perfunctory, but hey, I talked to him.) His words, as verbatim as I can remember, were: "Obviously, it's park policy not to comment on rumors, particularly those spread by some sixteen year old boy who doesn't know what he's talking about." So I guess I'll relax a notch or two about the whole matter.

On a separate note, according to one (other) employee I talked to, a fair amount of work has already been done on replacing track for RWB. I'm still guessing they won't get it up and running before the season peters out in a couple more weeks, but at least it's nice to know they're attempting to do something and not merely waiting until the off season.

^Bill Spehn was probably thinking "if I do tell you that the rumors are true you'll probably want to hit me in the face." :)

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

^ Or, "you'll post whatever I tell you on the interweb and our secret plan will be foiled!" :)
I actually felt like an ass afterwards for bringing it up -- like I was representing the worst of 'enthusiast' behavior. But I just ran into him and the question just sort of popped out.

^ Wouldn't that be a little presumptuous of him to assume that I, a complete stranger, would immediately go and post his comments online? Of all the sheer effrontery . . . oh, wait. ;)

If someone asks about coasters being removed, it's a pretty safe bet they read it on the internet. So, if that person reads things on the internet, they probably post on the internet as well. I'm guessing he made a pretty good assumption about you Mike. :)
Ensign Smith take it easy with the vocab. Your like Greg Graffin from Bad Religion. No offense he's awesome I'm just making a suggestion.
