Two 4D coasters coming to two northeastern parks?

Generally, I wouldn't believe in these rumors, but the head designer that envisioned the ride had some comments on X's debut in Amusement Today. He said that it "exceeded his expectations" because he didn't expect that the first one would be so huge. This leads me to believe that they thought about building some smaller ones, but SFMM felt like going for eXtreme with the magnitude of X.

It's a really good article because it talks about him growing up in Indiana and envisioning Zipper-type seats on a coaster. Incidentally, I thought about this myself a few years ago...great minds think alike. :)

1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone

wasnt there a rumor that a flying coaster at sfgadv would be built over the lake would be named delerium? maybe it the rumor was wrong about the flying coaster, and it will become a 4d!

what about SFKK? theres some room behind chang for a new coaster. :)

what is it with you and SFKK? SFKK isnt in the NE or SE its in the middle.

remember that there are a few different styles of the 4d coasters...that should give you a little better clue as to which coaster MIGHT end up at which park. It's useful to think in terms of what demographic each park might be looking at, and which parks mught warrant an attendance increase to justify such an "expenditure". Sorry to those of you in smaller markets...

and it's all rumor anyway until I read about it in the Enquirer...:)

Actually, what was 2001 new was that Six Flags did consult in buying two more 4D coasters. The rumor of where they are to go accounts for:

Six Flags Great Adventure

Six Flags America

Six Flags Darien Lake

Great Escape

Six Flags Great America

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom

The writer did specify parks, but Noreastern United States was for the sake of simplicity. It doesn't matter wether you think Six Flags America is in the Northeast or not, it is still one of the parks specified.

How many times must it be said before you guys get it?

I still think SFWoA has the Greatest Chance for a 4D if any park does in the NE. According to a TON of mechanics at SFWoA, they have been in contact with Arrow or Intamin for a while, and all this past year on designing a Ride fit for a park of that magnitude. 750 acres is too much land for 10 coasters. I firmly believe that the "2003 Hypercoaster" for the park will not be your normal type coaster... Whether it be 4D or not, It's not going to be simple.
Oh - "X" will never be used in the Six Flags Chain after SFMM's recent addition... too big of a name to be Reused. SF want's the name X to be directly connected to SFMM, not like Mind Eraser or Superman : Ride of Steel where you get the question of "Which one?!"

I have to ask the "LOADED" question.

Do you think CP will get one?

I really would like to know.

No, I don't think CP will get one, they just put in wicked twister; plus, where are they gonna put one?

Steve, I'm glad you brought up "The Space Problem".

As you are probably already aware 4D can be designed on one plane.Translated, It can be one great big out and back that rides on top or itself ( structurally ). With that in mind it could be positioned almost anywhere in CP. My personal fav would be to see it either next to BS or positioned next to DT and have it travel along the beach next to the parking lot.

True, I never thought of it that way. Where is that old mine ride in relation to the beach? Maybe they could weave it in there since its so "flexible."
I've been reading this thread with interest and here's my take on the situation.

Even though the other 4D models are smaller in size compared to X, sometimes good things come in small packages.

I consider Six Flags America as Northeast/Mid Atlantic. It's as if it's on the border.

My guess on who may get the next 4D coaster - SFGadv and SFGAm. I would like to see SFDL get a 4D since they haven't had a new coaster since Superman in 1999.

For those who think SFWoA will be the next recipient, I don't think so. The proposed hyper is rumored to be from Intamin.

I started a thread about two months ago about a similiar topic. In one of thr post Agent Johnson stated that Gary Story hadn't purchased another 4D for Six Flags yet. Gary wanted to wait and see how X performs.AG also said that Arrow hadn't sold any more 4D's at present but, if park decided to with in the next few weeks that Arrow could have it ready for the 03 season.

Um, anywhere they want?

If the shoe fits, find another one.

(rasing his hand and standing before the class)

Just as a little "geography" lesson: Maryland is a southern state (south of the Mason-Dixon line http://encarta.msn.com/find/Concise.asp?ti=02B78000 ); Illinois is a midwestern/great lakes region state. Neither is rightly called "North-Eastern". Therefore neither SFAm nor SFGAm should be classed as north-eastern.

Does that *really* matter for purposes of this discussion? Not really, but I wanted to make sure everyone was clear on the facts.

(returning to his seat in the back to throw spitballs @ RGW)

Anyway, I could most likely see 4-D coasters @ SFGAm and SFDL. I have a gut feeling that SFGAdv is going to get a B&M flyer and I just dont see the need in putting in a 4-D in any park which already has a flying-varient coaster.

Besides, if we were really shutting down people we disagreed with, would Jeremy (2Hostyl) still be around? :) I think not. - Jeff 1/24/02

That wasn't agent Johnson that said that. It was me. Those statements came from Arrow personally via e-mails to me.

2hostyl, quit with the spitballs already, it's starting to look as though I have dandruff already.....lol. But seriously, Md. may in fact be south of the M-D line, but I lived there for quite a while (Go Terps;)), and I'll definitely call it Mid-Atlantic...of course, where I lived in the DelMarVa was just referred to as "the sticks"! Illinois is the Midwest for sure....but enough geography.

On to the parks as listed: SFGE, SFKK, SFDL to me just don't bring in the $ necessary to fund such an investment...of course I could be wrong...SFGAdv is "rumored" to be getting a Beemer flyer, and as much as I hate to agree with anyone, I think jeremy's got a point about a 4-d and a flyer at the same park. That leaves SFA (which has plenty of competition and nothing new for '02) and SFGAm, which really seems to be a SF "mega-park" waiting for the final piece of the puzzle...

Actually although Maryland is below the Mason-Dixon line I would hardly call them a Southern state. They were a Union state not a Confederate state. Further the whole area is in current times referred to as Mid-Atlantic, and in this regard I would agree they are not a Northeastern State.

Ok, stop the arguing, next time I'll make sure Blast Coaster types the full thing out. Straight from the writer I have posted what parks were included above. Six Flags America is in there, Six Flags New England and World of Adventure are not. If a little simplicity causes this much arguement then mabye we should just make an indepth document explaining each rumor.
