track sighted at Cedar Point!!

It was also mentioned on GTTP that the color scheme may not be specifically for patriotic reasons. Ohio the state was founded in 1803...hence 2003 will be the bicentennial for the state. Thusly...red, white and blue. The tan supports may also be for the wooded areas while the yellow could be in the more open areas of the ride. Just a relay folks...no actual facts on these things.

Would the launch be able to maintain the speed up to the 420 if the lims or what ever method is used in a longer part of the track. I know the Batman and Robin only have lims for a short distance, thats why I was thinking they might run the lims up the side of the top hat to get it over the top.

Just a guess. I am not a coaster engineer!

Just a thought....

From an engineering perspective, the cost to build supports for a 420' tower for two tracks versus one is only slightly more. Now, assuming what people are saying about the top hat element only turning 90 degrees versus 180 is true, it would make sense that it could be a duel launched ride. Place the tracks parallel for the launch and the ride up to 420'. From there, rotate the track in opposite directions and continue with the rest of the ride.

Hmm, I know I am no genius, but it makes sense to me!

guys what TYPE of track is it?I know its an Intamin track, but what kind of Intamin track.

Those stats are pretty accurate from what I've heard. I have my sources for information....

I *thought* you were one of those with "sources"....man, this ride is gonna rock.....how long before next season starts.....:)...I'll try and make do over the "Winter" with Gwazi and Fire Dragon, but I'll be thinking CP....

No it won't, it will just move to another park. ;)

I haven't seen Xcellerator, but I have seen pictures of S:TE....

Here comes the point Where is this thing gonna go? I think it could take alot of track to get up to speed to hit 350'+ or whatever the height may be.

Joe, didnt mean to spoil anyones fun. Like I said at the end I hope im wrong. Eithier way be happy the parks getting a coaster! my homepark hasnt recieved a new coaster in years and next season doesnt look to hopeful eithier :(

I can't wait for Teenage Ninja to come tell us to shut up that its not a coaster now ...

Those stats have been basically "confirmed" for a while now, and as to location, somethings happening to Troika, Chaos and Paddlewheel, be it closure, slight movement or total relocation, not sure, but its a good bet thats where the launch station will be.

If you have only seen S:TE then I could see how you would think that. S:TE's launch is many, many times weaker than this one. (Different launch systems) To compare, Dodonpa hits 107 mph in 1.6 seconds. S:TE hits 100 in sround 6.5 seconds, I believe. There's a lot of difference in launch length there (200 or so compared to 1000+?).

So, no need to worry about space for a launch track. With the new launch system, it won't take up that much space.

Mmmm, so I wasn't the only one thinking that? ;) (See my post on previous page)

Hehe whoops ... double posting there ... well maybe if he sees it twice it'll get him to come out and defend himself =) (and at that point, I will try and exhibit my best self control to not start a flame war)

Why not set of LIMs going up the hill? I mean, other than the fact that I know nothing about physics, that seems possible.

I would guess the big problem could be capacity-short track, two train operation at best, maybe only one?

I just got off the phone with a friend at the park, and he said from what he could see, at least some of it is the Intamin 4-sided "box" track.

But does it curve in a certain way that gives away things? top hats? overbanks?

Mark: Chris Goodsey says there will be three trains. (He seems pretty trustworthy :) ) With a 2 station system similar to MF it should work nicely.

I think since this is not a LIM launch, there's less of a chance of LIMs being used to nudge the train.

Hopefully they don't go with the Knott's "Staple you in your seat" policy! I don't really care how tall it is (sounds from Jeff’s post it’s not 400+ ft.), along long as it gives a sweet ride I'll be happy.

“If you give a enthusiast a footer.......He’ll want a coaster!!!"

Too bad it isn't an LIM launch... I think having LIMs on a straight vertical track accelerating the train going straight up would be a really cool feeling...

I said from the beginning that the ride would settle various records and such, and I also said that there'd be one aspect that I know people will complain about. What do you suppose that will be?

What a strange coincidence that I was going to the park tonight...

Actually you said it would probably be some kind of pay per ride and judging by the footers it would be a slingshot style ride.
