I think there would be much more noise about this if it were true. Just hearing that a couple of random, nameless people said they spotted some track leads me to believe that it just isn’t true. I’ll see for myself in a week or so, hopefully.-------------

BTW, I am no more nameless than you are.
Hey, if anyone is at the park for Fright Fest, pay attention to the tombstones that are by some of the rides, for example these were found by S:ROS:
Wild World
Poorly Lived
Poorly Died
Poorly Buried
No One Cried
Sky Escaper
Free at Last
Free at Last
Last but not least, there was one about Rainbow Falls (the mult-color water slide by Around the World in 80 Days). I don't remember the exact saying but what was odd, the park did a lot of tombstones from ex-employees, old names for the park and and old rides. Could this be hint about Rainbow Falls? Trick or Treat?

If the local area is against the park, they're shooting themselves in the foot. I've spent money at McDonalds, Safeway, Food Lion, Popeye's Chicken, and 7-11 which are in a two mile area around the park. Central Ave., which is two lanes in each direction, seems to handle traffic just fine, and there is a traffic signal at the entrance to the park. Residents should be happy the park is there.

If you want expensive rides, you're going to pay for them, in one way or another.
Everything you just said is the reason why they are against the park, it brings traffic, supposedly noise from the coasters is a problem and bright lights if I remember correctly. Do some research on the Washington Post website and you may dig up what they are talking about.

I believe that Rainbow Falls, while it may be removed next year, was renamed last year, and the tombstone may just refer to that (like Wild World's renaming). Anyways, I think SFA will get something next year, but it may not be a major full circuit roller coaster (etc water slides, wild mouse, impulse, ferris wheel)

Keep in mind also that if track has indeed arrived the park is going to move it to an area where it is as hidden from view by the GP as possible
Gee, you're right. There's plenty of photographic evidence that CP and SFGAm (and countless other parks in years past) are doing just that. [end sarcasm]
No offense to CP but what's that got to do with this? a park like CP in fact does the opposite, they want to give hints & are aware that mmost of us speak highly of that park and know that enthusiasts will flock there by the millions whenever a new coaster is built.
Just because SFGRAM may show hints of their new ride doesn't mean that management at SFA has to do the same,in fact when I spotted track for JJ back in 98 before the AW conversion to SFA was announced I got strongly warned by a ride op on Mind Eraser for mentioning to another guest what I had seen.
As I said before I'll be going to the park on the 26th and if I see any signs of new track on site I will be sure to post it in my TR as well as in this topic(if it's still open)and then we'll have the proof of a new coaster for 2003 once & for all,I think it's the fact that some of us here don't want to accept the fact that SFA may very well be getting something new & good for once and don't want to admit it,that's just my opinion of course.

New and good??? I guess you are saying that SROS isn't good then? You should be happy with whatever the park gets because over the past few years, they have gotten a lot. Most parks, such as SFDL, SFAW, etc, haven't received anything major over the past few years. So if you be patient, and accept any new ride that comes your way, im sure one day they will put in another major ride.

Actually if you look at the track record of SFA, they have a tendency to hide parts for new attractions. They have the space to do so. They have the big area behind adminsitrative offices and 300+ acres of undeveloped property. I don't think these others parks have that kind of space (I could be wrong). But if they have this much space, why remove rides?

Right now it's just a track sighting and we don't have much more information to go on than that and by posting this information maybe others will be able to confirm or deny this by actually taking a look at the area described while in that area of the park, that way we'll know for sure one way or the other wether or not it is indeed true.
Most of my posts have been related to SFA because it's my homepark and I'm somewhat familiar with the way they do things there after having attended the park every year since 96 and I believe I know what I'm talking about, why is it whenever this is bought up by anyone other than me or about any park other than SFA most here choose to belive the source and automatically assume that my information is false? and what I meant earlier by "new & good" was mainly a reference to a new ride,I'm sure whatever the park adds for 2003 will be good, also about my sources of information,I'd prefer not to mention them because I'm not 100% sure if it would be a violation of the TOS here and do not wish to take such a risk by posting that information.
Once again the park will be open for frightfest tonight, tomorrow & sunday so if anyone is going just try to look in that area so we can be able to confirm that my information is true.
I believe that somthing is happening at SFA, but just what it is hard to pinpoint. We have all these words flying around that it is hard what to believe. To tell the truth, I won't be 100% convinced until I see pictures or with my own 2 eyes. And for those who say that SFA shouldn't be concerned with a new coaster when all these other SF parks get nothing is because of SFA's location. 15miles from our nations capitol ring a bell... Or how about 70 miles from PKD? SFA could easily loose to PKD (and still dose) that is why they need somthing.
I know alot of people that won't set foot in SFA because it is not appiealing to them. One on my friends says that he dosen't want somthing new (the park in general) and the other friend says the park is just flat out bad. But of course these people have been going to PKD for the past 12 years and will settle for nothing less.
So that is why SFA gets coasters more than the other smaller SF parks, location and competition. Get used to it SFA will grow and try to be better and the only way is with new things. SFA isn't out in the middle of nowhere, it has people who demand new things.
I never said that most of SFA's rides "suck" but it's that we havn't gotten any rides by reputable companies (cough B&M cough) but maybe someday we will, notice that I'm n ot complaining about S:ROS at all.
Of course any new ride for 03 is good wether it's a coaster or flat ride, right now it looks like a coaster is indeed coming for 03 & not a B&M but I'm still happy with the park for providing something new for next year, and for those who doubt the reported track sighting just wait until SFA has an announcement after the end of the season and then we'll see who's right & who's wrong.

I chose that specific "buzzname" because at the time I joined coasterbuzz Batwing was the latest ride to be added to the park,on all the other boards that I'm registered at I go by the username SFA Fan.
Technically I don't have a dislike for any coaster regardless of manufacturer, the only problem with Vekoma that I do have is that some of their rides aren't as reliable as they could be if they were better engineered.
