TOP THRILL Disappointment

My friends and I just got back from a 4 day excursion to Cedar Point. I can honestly say that I will never step foot in that park again as long as I live. I am sure many of you know about the special technicians that were sent in from Switzerland to fix the ride on Monday morning. Well, THEY DIDN'T! And I bet that none of you know the real reason why Dragster is down. Yes, there is a major problem in the Hydraulic valve but why there is a problem is an entirely different story. When Dragster broke down initially last Wedneday, the illustrius Cedar Point technicians believed that they could fix the problem by replacing the broken part of the motor with a part from another ride. Basically, they "Jerry-rigged" the thing into working...at least for the test run. When it broke down in the final stage of testing, they, and as I quote the Swiss technician whom we spoke with, "they really did it in then". So now, there are about 18 technicians (including the Swiss specialists) sitting in the Hyrdaulics chamber staring at the motor trying to figure out what to do. We left earlier today in disgust after staying 2 extra days because Cedar Point's "honest" management told us that it was a "small and easily fixable problem...it should be open later today." Oh, and by the way..."It should be open tomorrow morning."--- Be sure to spend that extra $43.95 (or if you get one of those soda cans- $33.95) to stay an extra day.

For heaven's sake, don't cry! You couldn't enjoy the other rides?

IT HAPPENS. Try to deal with it and have fun anyway.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Someone call the whambulance. I have yet to ride a Deja Vu and I have saw two of them and watched SFGAM's valley in front of me twice.

Big Deal!

Dude it will eventaly run without problems just go back to CP then. It's a little extreme to say youll never go back, and you quoted it yourself that they said it SHOULD be running tomorrow.
Your crazy.. no matter what happened to TTD. It still is part of opening a new ride. life goes on and the world is still spinning. Cedar Point is still the best park on earth and we are all lucky to be able to go there at all.. I am still gratefull TTD has opened at all this season as we had one of the worst winters on record..

The only reason you say that Coasterguy is because of your little "ttd-7" thing you have going there. YOU'VE BEEN ON IT!

You people really misunderstand the entire situation. How would you feel if the management continuously told you it was going to be open later in the day, or be open the next morning? Of course, had you not had the chance to be on it yet, you would pay (like we did) to go back. BUT IT NEVER OPENS. Personally, those damn technicians should be shot for trying to jerry-rig it. That is just repulsive!

I hope you honestly don't think that Dragster is the first ride that CP's maintenance has jury-rigged at some point or another, or that Cedar Point is the only park who practices this procedure.

And I haven't had a chance to be at CP for the last couple years... spare me your tears, boy.

Did the park actually say "It will for sure be open later today", or "It might be open"? There's a big difference... you sometimes hear what you want to hear.

I HEART OHIO

I would have to agree with Jaisen15 on this one. Maybe if they went for one day I could see this as whining, but four days and management telling them it would be fixed is inexcusable. After four days straight the park does kindof start to get old. Slipknot, I think the remark about it being open tomorrow was a bit sarcastic. To me, the status report page on the CP website is not a good sign. If you have to check to see if TTD will be running I don't see how that is good in any way.
I think that Coasterbuzz is made up of some really idiotic people. I can guarantee that each and every one of you would be complaining like I am if this happened to you. WE WERE GIVEN DEFINATES BY CEDAR POINT MANAGEMENT ALL THREE DAYS.

Yea your right I am a idoit for not getting so pissed and all worked up because a ride was broke down. And besides its YOU who buys the tickets if the ride was promise opend or not. Maybe they did plan on opening it tomorrow but that night the ride ran into more problems while testing after the park closed.

Can I have a 'definate' too? Are they really shiny?
You bunch of fanboys will do anything to keep that Point image spotless.

Have any of you actually taken a look at the Mantis lagoon or any of the park's planters throughout the park before you check a vote for "cleanest park"?

EDIT : As for the Top Thrill Dragster incident (which this thread is all about), even Six Flags (which many of you so greatly despise) have their ride ops/hosts stand at the entry of a new ride that is down (or have a sign) that says NOT OPEN or they tell inquisitive guests that they don't know when it will be up and running, which is the truth. Having management tell you repeatedly over a course of three days "it will be up and running later today/tommorrow/sometime this evening" is just ludicrous.

You know, I'm sorry you didn't get to ride, but bad things do happen. You act as if TTD is the only ride at Cedar Point. Even without Dragster, there ought to be more than enough rides to keep you busy (though four days is a bit much IMO).

Its not as if they weren't trying to open the ride, and I respect that. Thats just how new ride techology works.

I came out from California a few weeks ago and got 3 rides. I would have been happy with 1, and though I would have been very dissapointed if it wasn't open, I would still have had a good time at the park. That is the difference between some enthusiasts and others I guess...

8 Days- 10 parks. May 2003

Fighting the urge....fighting the urrrrrge......

If this were SFMM, they'd still be tightening bolts and we'd still be waiting till December for it to even open! You know, like with S:TE or Goliath or Deja Vu. So by that particular timeframe, CP is just plain awesome, no?

Now see whatcha made me do.

"Maybe they did plan on opening it tomorrow but that night the ride ran into more probles while testing."

idiot --- it hasn't budged since last Wednesday...as far as I am concerned, they don't have a clue what is wrong with it.

What the hell did that have to do with anything?
