What has happened to CoasterBuzz?

Had to look that up. I thought it was Single Jewish Woman, and I didn't know what kind of responses they would have.

Winston, let's review what happened here:

Post #1: MrX asks what other hills compare to a specific hill on El Toro.

Post #2: A few minutes later, he posts again by noting the recent lack of activity on the site.

Post #3: ApolloAndy politely informs him that this kind of topic really doesn't fly on this site, and then he answers his original question.

Post #4: MrX gets defensive and takes a shot at CoasterBuzz.

Post #5: Jeff tries to diffuse the situation with self-deprecating humor.

Post #6: PhatomTails criticizes MrX's grammar, but does so in a way that points out how bad grammar can actually make it hard for other people to understand what you're saying.

Post #7: MrX gets more defensive and stands by his bad grammar.

Post #8: Le Monster responds directly to the original question with a specific example and includes a video.

Post #9: MrX responds to Jeff by clarifying that the CoasterBuzz community is mean rather than boring.

And it continues to devolve from there. He got four responses to his post and only one of them was hostile (and even that response included valid criticism that could actually be useful), while two of them actually attempted to answer his original question.

Dude came here looking for a fight, period. Call us dicks if you want, but he got what he wanted.

Also, your SJW comment is a non sequitur; it has nothing to do with any of this.

Ahhh, the Coasterbuzz of yore. Love it.

Hey, any of you ever max out the height of your RCT coasters and put a sharp little hill at the bottom to max out those Gs? Would that be considered a "mistake"?

Dang dude, I'm envious of your MS Paint skills.

Raven-Phile's avatar

LOL. No MS Paint here. I used a Mac. They're better for editing.

Vater's avatar

Clearly! No way could I have done that on a PC.

Raven-Phile's avatar

Not a chance. And, get this, the software was *included*. I didn't even have to pay for all that power.

Also, note the subtlety of using the beef flavor, because El Toro is a bull. I thought I should clarify that as well.

Whoa...now you're just showing off. Justifiably.

My latest round of computers, I went back to Windows after 15 years. Those intolerable keyboards, the silly touch bar, the non-touch screens, the extra cost... meh, I'll put up with Windows.

Now I'm in the mood for Beef Flavored Top Airtime Ramen.

On the subject at hand, I've never been on El Toro, but I have recently created a bucket list of Amusement Parks that I would like to visit and SF Gadv is on said list. As far as favorite airtime, I'm limited in my experiences as I have only visited 3 parks. But for what it's worth, Millennium Force is my favorite extended airtime and Steel Vengeance has some wicked airtime on it as well.

I’ve almost reached that point, myself. Working in an all windows environment means that Mac OS is a nice change of pace, but the lines are so blurred now that it’s hard to justify the cost. Although, I have a 6-ish year old Mac Mini that functions beautifully after an SSD upgrade and 16 GB of RAM, at least for what I do with it. Most everything is on my phone and iPad these days, though.

I can't imagine life without my iMac. It's lasted me about ten years now. I know I'm going to have to get a new one sooner or later. It has been a really good value when you consider how long I've had it so far.

If it craps out before I can get another one, I'll just use my iPhone until I can get another one. I don't ever see myself with a Windows desktop.

I love Macs. Worked on them all the time when I was doing graphic design work back in Chicago. But I can work with Windows. Even though Microsoft tend to load everything up with too many options that could easily be on a pull down menu.

Oh goodness this was an entertaining read.

You go from an illegible "discussion" about airtime, to bickering over the "state of Coasterbuzz as we know it", to ending in PC VS IMAC. Forum gold lol...

But if I'm to humor the OP's question, there is this hill on the Tornado at Stricker's Grove, where it literally feels as if all of the car's road wheels are completely off the track for a split second. Those who have ridden it will know what I'm talking about. It always terrified me as a kid, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Last edited by Llama Drama,

I would agree with that. It’s such an innocuous looking ride, but sure does manage a surprise punch. It’s almost as if they left out an entire bent when building that stretch and said “aw, it’ll be fine, just forget it”.
Dorney’s Coaster (now Something Hawk- Thunderhawk?) used to have a similar moment on the return trip, right before the final brake shed. This was way back before CF, when it was still yellow. Someone must’ve since ironed it out, if I recall correctly it’s not nearly as good now.

Check out this write up about Lightning Rod... There’s a picture that really gives a sense of the airtime about 3/4 of the way through.

But then again, what do I know?

RCMAC- ChickenHawk at Dorney Park could’ve been fun, but I hate PTC trains with those stupid orange bars.

But then again, what do I know?
